If you're ever in Edmonton:- Take a right at the light - Go down past the poutine stand - Hang a left at the hockey rink - Stand and face the sun - Say "return top" three times...and Chris will magically appear in a puff of maple-scented smoke and grant you one wish.
If im correct, the original peak when it was sold on yoyo nation, was retailed around $45-$50.
So what was the first yoyo that you guys released that ventured into the $120-$150 price range majority of your return tops fall into now?
I think they started creeping up there around 2011, but our prices have steadily increased through the life of the company. Our material and machining costs increased, the size of our team increased, our finishes got more complicated, but our run sizes stayed about the same. It's a tricky thing, making art but still running a business. We feel like we've managed to balance things out well so far, and we're looking forward to the next chapter of CLYW.
I think the basselope is amazing one of your best return tops. Why did you stop making them? and any chance we will see a Basselope 2 maybe with a stepped out gap or something?
I'd like to see the Basselope get an update! The shape has potential, but there were definitely some issues with that design. It's always tempting, to revisit something you think of fondly. But at the same time, we have to move forward!Tricky. I wouldn't count on it happening, but I wouldn't count it out either.
i wish i could have a clyw, i've never played or seen one but i want one so badly, problem is i can't afford one at the present time and i'm dying cause i dont have one
Like, you're actually physically DYING because you don't own a return top? That is messed up.
Is the Glacier Express worth getting or should I spend my money on a different CLYW? Also how does it play?
I think it plays great, although it wasn't the most popular thing we've ever done. If you like deep undercuts and very pronounced h-shapes, go for it!
why did you decide to go with a different way of making a plastic yoyo rather than the way, for example yoyofactory, makes them?
First and foremost, because we aren't YoYoFactory. ;)We wanted something that really fit the look and feel of our brand, and we think we really nailed it with the Yeti.
