Chris-I have tuned my Puffin 2 to be dead smooth. Whenever I unscrew it now and put it back together, the smoothness goes away. I have to re-tune it each time and the axle needs to be in a specific place for it to be dead smooth. Is it bad or unusual for the smoothness to go away every time?
Did you change the bearing out? Could be the bearing fit is slightly lose. Not a common thing but can happen from time to time. How old is it? - Chris
When you say solids do you mean exclusively solid colourways, or in addition to the other ones?
In addition to, although the solids will probably release a couple weeks before the rest. We're trying to split batches between two different anodizers to keep things moving along quicker. -Steve
i want to ask chris since you designed the campfire to be a "pocket throw" very small undersized yoyo. did that make it harder making that model full sized?
Small undersized throws are much harder for me to design. The Campfire was a fluke. It did take some time to design the Bonfire, but once I got going it went well. Then After the proto we knew what to change. - Chris
I think it actually is flush and my eyes are playing tricks on me lol. Thanks!
Good to hear :)
If I messed up the axle or threads, I would notice, right? The throw plays fantastic, so I don't think I need to be too worried about it. What do you think, Chris?
I guess so. Just sounds weird that it would not be flush.
I just got a raw wooly marmot 2 prototype... did you ever sell those? because my friend bought it off the website and he gave it to me :)
No we didn't. But Jensen got a bunch when he visited the OD shop and sold them. The ones out there aren't actually prototypes. Well most likely. There were really only 6 protos and those are locked in collector's hands, but who knows now though which is which thanks to Jensen mixing up. - Chris
My Puffin 2 came with a flat 10-ball, and I immediately replaced it with an 8-ball center trac bearing. It fits nicely in the bearing seat, but when I screw it together, it isn't perfectly flush with the bearing seat. Do center trac bearings fit your throws and could this cause any vibe at all?
Yes they do. Perhaps you didn't put the bearing on flat? The bearing post on the Puffin 2 is quite long. And all those C size bearings are pretty standard. Maybe you messed up the axle threads? - Chris
please make the next run of gnarwhal 2's engraved, or at least a couple of colourways, I really wanted the get one this run but didn't have enough money
Hope to again next time! Glad to hear they were a hit! - Chris
It was good. A lot of people like it. I felt the large bearing was really good, maybe a little more center weight compared to our other throws. In the long run it just wasn't a strong enough contest throw. But it was still fun. - Chris
