why do you put different axle type to your yoyos? it's kinda like apple has different charging adapter than androids and that's probably the only thing that i hate about it. i have same problem with clyw axles
I think you need to work on your analogies, home slice. Apple is a company, Android is a piece of software used by dozens of companies in vastly different hardware.
We only have two axle sizes for our line (not including the slightly doomed Yeti), long and short. We decide which one to use based on the dimensions of the return top we're making. We use the long axle in everything we can, but some designs require a shorter axle. -Steve

I sometimes wonder about what I'm even trying to do as a yoyoer. I don't even really know what I could do for the community. So I've been just throwing out in public as I'm out and about. Talking to people that stop to see, trying to crack some smiles. I don't know what else I should do. Any advice?
Contact contest organizers in your area and offer to help? Be helpful on message boards and Facebook groups? -Steve

Hey Steve, sorry if this is more geared for your personal page (I feel more will see it here), but what got you into yoyos all those years ago? You've been so influential and have played such a big part in our small community for the past ~17 years. What first sparked the interest?
I was homeless and unemployed and needed a job. I was sleeping on friends couches, in cars, outside, etc. It was a rough time. I met Greg, the owner of yoyoguy.com, at a coffee shop that used to let me sweep floors and take out trash in exchange for food and coffee (which was a lifesaver at the time) and convinced him to give me a job. I sat in the back of his shop assembling the first production runs of Dale Oliver's "Spintastics" yoyos, and eventually taught myself how to use them.
There is a longer version to that story but I have a lot of other stuff to do right now. But yeah...it was pure, dumb luck and then a lot of hard work. -Steve
