I put smiley face. CLYW trying to work with good peeps. No need to flip out man - I'm rude? Only 2point disagree with - I do think inherently cooler stay local, guy in garage even cooler -2 you have no idea what I think. Not enough characters. Sorry Steve, I go, last: Is it cause I said fart?

LOL if you think that's me flipping out. ;)
I just don't have much patience for anyone that comes in here, insults my friends, and then tells me I need to prove myself on something that you clearly don't know anything about. If you want to have a legit conversation about overseas manufacturing, let's do it! I'm happy to. If you want to insult YoYoFactory and then demand I justify myself, I'm not going to make any effort to hold your hand and be nice about pointing out that you're being rude and I don't like it. I've made it really, really clear in the past and I'll say it again for anyone else who thinks it's funny: do not come in here and insult YoYoFactory or any other manufacturer. Do. Not. -Steve

Can you guys release smaller batches? When your company was younger you used to sell out and now u don't it takes like a Month and your almost getting to big. You should release 3-4 splash colours and 2 solid colours so everyone can choose if they want a cheaper throw or a fancy splash version

We have a hard time keeping product in stock anywhere, people are constantly asking us when there will be more, and we have to turn away retailers with every production run....and you want us to make SMALLER batches? LOL -Steve

Which plays better, the bonfire or the production scout?? Also, will any of your current lineup (including the orca and production scout) be made in Asia? Or just some releases later on?

That's a tough one. The Bonfire has been Chris' "go to" throw since it was released, and that has recently been replaced by the Scout. So I would say they are pretty similar for the most part, but the Scout is a nice alternative if you already like the Bonfire. Does that make sense?
We aren't moving any of our existing models overseas. There is no reason to, we have production dialed in quite nicely for them here already. For us, the value in making new models overseas is if we need larger quantities of something at a lower price point, or if we are trying to do something REALLY high-end but don't want to end up with a retail price over $200. -Steve

You have answered so many questions (8526 to be exact). How many of them approximately have been about Yetis?

Too many. Tooooo many. -Steve

Will you convince me that outsourcing is cool? Done gimme that, more yoyos 4 everyone line. We know, China's cheap, you can make lotsa junk. Convince me it's cool-art-boutique-highend. All reminds me of is YYFart...and underpaid people in hazardous jobs brainwashed just enough to not revolt. :)

You are rude. Maybe you should reconsider that.
There is nothing inherently "cool" about outsourcing, nor is there anything inherently "cool" about making things in the country you live in. There is, however, something inherently cool in having a vision and seeing it to fruition by busting ass, working hard, and making it happen.
You think that manufacturing in China is "cheap", and you are wrong. I don't blame you, you just don't know anything about manufacturing. China is cheapER, for certain things, in certain quantities, but only because the US manufacturing industry has been dying a slow, miserable death ever since American consumers started insisting on buying everything a cheaply as possible. If you have ever shopped at Wal-Mart or Target, then you are the exact reason that it's not only less expensive to manufacture some things overseas but it's often better quality if you know what you're doing. China manufacturing has surpassed US manufacturing in a ton of ways, and while price is the one that people most often talk about, quality is the one that's the most important. Look at a company like C3yoyodesign. I've never once heard anyone refer to their products as "cheap garbage" because they are busting their butts and doing it right. If ever there was an Asian-based manufacturer that is the spiritual twin of CLYW, it would be C3yoyodesign. All made in Asia, all amazing quality.
Cool and artistic has nothing to do with price or quantity. Andy Warhol proved that. Boutique is all about the product, not where you made it. High end is a function of cost to manufacture and quality, not geography. You can talk all you want about "underpaid people in hazardous jobs" but if you think that's exclusive to China you are naive to the point of insanity. Look no further than California if you want to talk about worker conditions and pay. CLYW does not, and will not EVER have products made in conditions that are dangerous to workers, but if you think all of China functions that way you are sadly mistaken. I have factories that I've been working with for more than a decade in China and they are quite exactly the same kind of small mom-and-pop shops that you find here in the US. I've sourced tons of designer toys from a factory that is basically the Chinese equivalent of One Drop only for vinyl molding, and they are amazing people who treat their workers like family and make beautiful products. Small, boutique manufacturing to high quality standards.
If you want to puff your chest out and tell everyone how awful they are for having a larger worldview than you, that's totally your call but dude...don't expect me to buy into it because I've seen and done a lot more than you and I actually know what I'm talking about here.
Thanks for taking the time to ask the question. I hope you have a clearer view now of where we stand. -Steve

This "GN Yoyo Co." needs to be put in its place. Dennis is a BEAST. I don't see any positive community involvement out of them, but a ton from you guys.

I really don't care what their opinion is of Dennis...we think he's amazing, the team loves him, and our fans are really digging his stuff. Works for me! -Steve

What's made overseas nowadays?

Nothing from CLYW is made in Asia yet. Although technically CLYW is a Canadian company so everything made in the U.S. is "foreign manufacturing". -Steve

When you make 5a, did you expect to see things like what Takeshi is doing now?

Hell no. I never expected anything from it. I was surprised anyone besides me gave a crap about it at all. -Steve

who on the team wears yoyo gloves in competition?

I don't actually remember seeing anyone from the team wearing gloves. Although to be fair, it's not really something I notice or look for. -Steve

If you make a budget throw dont outsource. I like supporting those who stay local/support their fellow community to the fullest. It's part of cool integrity factor you and few others have, keep it. If I ask real nice will you guys realease splash scouts first? Solids=boring :) blue/lightblue :)

Thanks for the feedback, but we have made the decision to add overseas manufacturing to our supply chain. We'll continue manufacturing everything we can in North America, but there are just some things we can't do here and if we want to keep growing CLYW it's gonna have to happen. I hope you can continue to support a tiny two-man company that is just trying really hard to make the best return tops it can. :)
Solid Scouts are releasing first. A whole lot of people seem to disagree that "solids=boring", including me, so sorry about that. ;) -Steve

is there a way to fix vibe on your FG return top? if there isnt a way why would people still buy return top with vibes?

Because some people just aren't that worried about vibe. Or they are 5A player who know they'll beat some vibe into it in like 5 minutes anyway. -Steve
