I ordered an orca last night and I'm stoked. I am currently using the shutter and too hot. I know that those throws are by yoyofactory but Do u think that I will enjoy the switch to the orca?
Thanks for the help
I think you'll really like the Orca! I like the Shutter and Too HOT as well, and I think you'll find that the Orca is a step up, but in a unique way. All three of those models play great and feel totally different...great choices! -Steve
So I'm Interested in the business side of the company and feel free to answer this question with a "it's none of your business" but for team clyw do players get a percent of the profit if they create a signature return top. And do team members with sig colorways get money from their colorways sold.
All team member with a signature return top get royalties. Signature colorways we take a percentage of the sales and apply that towards a travel allowance for that player. -Steve
No, but I play Dungeons & Dragons. (3.5, if you're wondering.) -Steve
with the yeti design. Do you think using a different plastic may help the snapping problem. Maybe something durable like derlin?
Delrin isn't *that* durable, plus it has it's own problems. We'll be making the Yeti 2.0 in polycarbonate. -Steve
How do I find the right string length the length I have feels comfortable but looks a little awkwardly short. Is there a trick to finding the right length for ones height? I know this is a clyw page but you guys are most knowledgeable Yoyo people that I have access to speak to
Thanks.
It's really just trial and error. Start with the "from your belly button to the floor" length and then just adjust from there. I've been playing for 20 years and I still don't have a "default" length that I use. Sometimes I want a long string, sometimes I want a short one. -Steve
Next yoyo releases besides the chief?
Bonfire & Scout (retailers) and Arctic Circle 2 (direct). -Steve
Hey Steve! I've had the urge to go back to the roots of throwing and have some fun. What are some of your favorite responsive yoyos? Would love some purchase suggestions.
You can pick up vintage wooden Duncan's from the 50s for dirt cheap. Spend some time sanding and widening the gap, and then use the thinnest string you can find. That's my favorite. -Steve
Where is CLYW HQ located?
We have two offices. One in Edmonton (Chris) and another in Ohio (me). Chris has an actual office. I have my kitchen counter. -Steve
When do you think will be the next release on your store?
We have a tiny quantity of Arctic Circle 2 in Zip Zap Rap (Michael Kurti) and in Ayumu's new colorway (still need a name) that we'll be dropping in a couple of weeks, I think. Plus we've been holding back a few pieces here and there from the past few runs, so we're going to do a "Second Chance" offering on a few models at the same time. :) -Steve
I don't know if this is the place to be saying this but im gonna go ahead and do it, 1 year ago i was brutally verbally assaulted by some socially impaired metalheads on instagram and they made fun of my hobby.
Sorry to hear that. You'd think, they being part of a subculture that has it's fair share of ignorant people talking trash about it, that they would be less prone to doing the exact same thing to someone else. Sadly, some people are simply only happy when they are making someone else sad. Ignore them. They are taking the long route on their journey to the middle. Be kind, forgive their ignorance, and remember not to be like them. -Steve
What makes the 7075 different than a normal one?
7075 is denser and stronger, so you can use less of it without sacrificing play or strength...which means you can make a lighter return top with slightly better weight distribution that will take damage better. -Steve
What video editing software do you guys use to make your videos?
I use Final Cut Pro. Not sure what Chuck used, or what our other editors use. -Steve
