Does the matte (is it pyramette or gruntbull) finish on your return tops wear off a bit over time? I feel like the surface of my AC2 has gotten smother but I'm thinking it's just my imagination. Not a bad thing, just curious

You know, it's not something I've ever paid attention to. I would assume that yes, with heavy play over a lot period of time, you would probably polish out the surface a bit. I have zero idea how long that would take or how much of a difference it would make. -Steve

You guys should make one batch overseas and see what people think

We're going to make more than one batch overseas, and people are gonna be just fine with it.
There is this weird backlash engine in the return top industry where no one wants to see a company succeed beyond a certain point. Everyone says they want to support player owned / player operated companies, but as soon as they start making money there is a huge backlash. I delete so many questions here from people who just want to trash-talk YoYoFactory because they are "too big" and then praise us because we are small and struggling. YoYoFactory is 5 return top players in an office park who learned early on that if you spend money on graphic design even a small company can look good....and yet people treat them like the anti-Christ because they do what? They teach a lot of kids how to play return top, and make low cost return tops that work really well so that lots of kids can afford them. Yep. That's terrible.
For some reason there are a lot of people who a) don't understand the reality of manufacturing overseas and b) don't want CLYW to succeed. And when I say "succeed" I mean "have the money to send our players to lots of contests and for Chris & Steve to get paid and support their families". We aren't aiming all that high, folks. We want to make enough product so that all our fans can get what they want, we want to make the highest quality stuff we can, we want to have a couple of affordable models for new players to learn about CLYW, and we want to have a lot of fun doing all these things.
It's amazing and sad to me that there are people who would wish failure on us just for wanting these things. Luckily, I think most of our fans TRUST us and know better than to think we're going to cheapen the company and the brand. Anyone who has ever talked to Chris and I for more than 10 minutes knows that all we want to do is put return tops in players hands and have fun doing it. That's IT. So if we can make a couple of models overseas and that helps us keep CLYW going and puts more affordable stuff in players hands....dude, what could possibly be wrong with that!? -Steve

I can't decide between Orca or Scout! Both will have colorways coming correct? Which is faster?

They are both pretty fast, but I think the Scout is a little faster. -Steve

I still think you guys should do the good luck yeti bag. Just let people know they're unusable. People still want them. Ask your Facebook page to see what I mean

Maybe. -Steve

Are you guys just throwing out the reject yeti halves?

Yeah. Unfortunately there is nothing else to do with them. And don't say "Fools Gold!" because they are straight up unplayable. -Steve

We have some splash Orcas that will be sold direct (coming this week!) but it's just a few colorways....the big batch will be sold through retailers. -Steve

Im trying to decide if I should get a wooly marmot 2 or a chief? I already have a sasquatch and am looking for something a bit faster.

Get a Chief! -Steve

why is it when you have a yo yo for awhile they lose their smooth playability but yours play smooth for ever. my theory is your bearing seats being not so tight. it stays stabilized unlike the death grip other companies have.

Actually, tighter bearing seats tend to equal smoother spins. -Steve

Shark vs Zombie Beaver? I thought those were supposed to be on the most recent run of Avalanches.

Yep. We did one production run, but split it into two releases. SvZB will be in the next release. -Steve

If you have an Orca, then get the Scout! Such an amazing throw...Chris did a killer job with it. -Steve

Since the big type of yoyo questions are being thrown out there, wood CLYW in the future?

Nothing planned. -Steve

May I suggest if you decide to ever look for collaborators for apparel that you check out Olan Rogers? He runs his business just as amazingly as you guys run clyw and I feel like you'd do amazing things together.

Thanks for the heads up! -Steve

its funny, people need to understand that if you ask nicely, you will get a friendly response, as to if you decide to be rude and say whatever you want thats rude and hide behind a computer screen, you aren't gonna get a friendly response. lets get rid of some of the negativity!!!

Yup yup! -Steve

For the sake of shutting everyone up, just say the Yeti is retired and that it was a fail/ learning experience for the company. PERIOD.

It's not retired, it wasn't a total fail, and it was a HUGE learning experience. And we've learned from it, figured out what needs to happen, and are working on the Yeti 2.0. -Steve

What do you guys think when people tag you on instagram in everything they post? I feel kind of bad since I would imagine you get tons of notifications for it, which takes away from time you could be doing other things, but maybe it's not as bad as it seems to me.

It's cool when they are tagging photos of us, or something CLYW-related they want to show us. When it's just random people tagging us and every other manufacturer for no reason that's a little weird. -Steve

how significant is the difference between the Advance Scout and the production Scout? do they play really similar or not so much?

The differences are tiny on paper and huge in the hand. They really do play very, very different. -Steve

Yoyo workshop seems to be cool with you guys, maybe a collab?

Not really familiar with their stuff, to be honest. -Steve
