what's the best way to deal with being scammed while trading?

Stick with buying retail.
But if you insist, always pay via PayPal and NEVER send money as a gift. If dealing with someone you don't know, make them ship first. -Steve

every year does Clyw have some sort of mind set or goal like for example last year return tops were all seconds of a later return top. This year the return tops are based on signatures. Any plans for next year or what Im saying just a coincidence?

We don't plan that way. We look at the industry, we talk to our team, we decide what direction we want the company to move towards and then we design appropriately. -Steve

Bonfire or chief? I cant decide. Going from avalanche. Both look awesome. i hear a bonfire is alot of fun, almost too fun if thats even possible. But chiefs man. In some peoples eyes its the best/fav throw ever. I got caribou problems.

Chief is what Chris considers to be his favorite design of all time. I consider it to be the flagship model of CLYW...I think that particular return top really embodies the essence of how our return tops play.
Get a Chief. They are still amazing. -Steve

im getting a knot every single time i bind! how do i fix this?

I have no idea, but you are clearly doing something consistently wrong. Revisit your bind. -Steve

Im trying to learn how to do some trick off youtube. I learn half of the trick then i can get the other half! how do i fix this?

Just keep at it...you'll get there. -Steve

hey Steve, just curious but have you ever actually gotten emails from people complaining about fools gold throws they got?

I've gotten emails complaining about everything you can possibly imagine. I've had people complain about the packing materials I used for their Fool's Gold, complaining that it didn't come with a string (and insisting I mail them one, Priority Mail, a single string...no joke), I've had people who didn't understand what Fool's Gold was and demanded refunds because their return top had off-color ano or mild vibe...you name it.
I don't take any of it personally, and every time I take it as an opportunity to revise how we communicate with our fans to make sure that next time I'm a little bit clearer. -Steve

where does the bulk of the cost come from in making yoyo? especially from you guys in CLYW

The whole process of making small quantities of a precision return top is expensive. The machining is expensive, the anodizing is really expensive, the scrap rates are high (which, when you add the cost of all the return tops you had to scrap or sell at half-price makes the individual cost of your good ones even higher), and the costs of prototyping and development are high.
Then you add our two main channels of advertising: social media and our team. We have to pay for the content to get created (photography, video, etc.) and then we have to pay to promote it on Facebook (otherwise you won't see most of it). Then we have our team...paying for travel to contests, sending them equipment (you have no idea how fast that adds up to some insane dollar amounts), and paying them for content that we can use for social media. Then there is the cost of sponsoring contests, which for this year is going to be greatly reduced so that we can focus more on the team.
It's stupidly expensive to run a small return top company, if you are doing it right. -Steve

i read an article about people having trouble to get through the scanning procedure in the airport. will it happen during WYYC in japan? i am planning to buy some there and bring it back :(

Are you referring to this article: http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2015/04/the-yo-yo-effect/389868/
The guy had no problems getting through, just like no one has ever had problems getting through security with return tops. What happened is the same thing that usually happens when you bring a return top case through security: they open it up, ask what they are, and then let you through. This guys, however, is a writer, so he took the opportunity to make it a big production for the sake of writing an article.
I've been traveling with return tops for 20 years, to 19 countries, and never had a problem. Don't worry about it. -Steve
