Hey, it's the response pad dimension guy again. I'm in the process of having prototypes machined for a yoyo I designed. So the correct question would be, would you have any problems with me using Snow Tires as my response? If so, could you possibly tell me the dimensions so I could double check?

Here's the thing: if you want to get anywhere in yoyo design, you need to learn how to use a caliper. We would be doing you a disservice by just handing out the dimensions for whatever you need. Then you aren't really learning how to design a yoyo, you're just copying numbers other people gave you. That's not helping you, that's encouraging you to think small.
We like our pads because they work great for the return tops we design. They weren't intended to fit everyone's return tops, they were intended to fit ours. We design for a certain bearing and a certain response and a certain feel, and if you're just copying us then you aren't moving forward with a vision that is uniquely yours. And that's not going to help you do anything but fail in a crowded market.
Have your own vision. Design the return top that you think moves the game forward, not just a mashup of other people's preferences. Maybe our size of response pad is the best option for you, but if you don't even know what size they are then I really doubt you've done enough work yet to even really know if that's the case.
Figure out your own path forward...it'll end up being far more rewarding. Good luck! -Steve

Steve I love that TED video you put here and why you guys don't want to un-retire a return top (Ex:Peak) can't wait to see what you got in store for us!

So much good stuff ahead, I promise. :) -Steve

Any plans for a Plastic with metal caps like the Vegan Cupcake Parlor? Instead of metal body with metal cap then plastic body with metal cap. Still as hard to produce like the Pure?

Any plans for us to knock off a return top designed by a guy who owes thousands and thousands of dollars to people? Ha ha ha ha no. -Steve

Could I use flowable silicone instead of snow tires?

Yup. Although, it's should be noted that Snow Tires were designed as a replacement and improvement over flowable silicone. But whatever works for you! -Steve

Yuuki is God like.

There have been a lot of gods. I guess Yuuki could be yours. He's certainly nicer than Zeus and better looking than Ganesh. A lot less murdery than most gods. Sure. Make Yuuki your god. The young god of yoyos and video games and sweet jackets. Works for me. -Steve

He's probably not interested at the moment but would you sponsor Yuuki? I know OneDrop would

Maybe. Sponsorship isn't an offer, it's a conversation. I've never had that conversation with him, so I have no idea how it would go. But that conversation involves finding out what he wants and what he's willing to offer, and then talking to him about what CLYW wants and can offer, and then talking through all of these things to make sure that it's a good fit on both sides. -Steve

I'm taking a trip out of state for a week. I can take 3 return tops in my travel case, but only one can be CLYW(like to keep a variety of companies). Should I take a Chief, Avalanche, or Wooly Marmot 2?

Chief!

So, If i already have a Scout, (which you described as a Chief+) would it be worth it to pick up a Chief also?

They play differently enough to me that I keep both in my go bag. -Steve

that link explains nothing about the status of the 7075 AC2. Dont really care. this is the first i have heard of it. is there actually any info about it?

Yes, it's In Assembly. -Steve

how can you just forget you have a box of yetis in your basement ??? ... btw i really like you guys

You have to see Chris' basement to understand. -Steve

I watched the vid you referenced about 4 days ago in response to why CLYW is moving away from more extreme designs such as Glacier Express. But the video seems to suggest the error of perusing universal principles... Variety is necessary. Just a thought... Luv u guys :) http://youtu.be/iIiAAhUeR6Y

Variety is definitely necessary, but a key takeaway from that video is that people rarely have any idea what they want, and often what they say they want isn't actually what they want.
We get a lot of requests for return tops that didn't sell very well the first time...not because people want to play with them, but because people feel like they "missed out". To un-retire something would be a HUGE deal for us, and to un-retire something just for mediocre sales that are purely nostalgia based is just something that, as a company, we don't think is a good move.
We have plenty more ideas up our sleeves, though...don't worry. ;) -Steve

So for the 200 pieces of the Yeti that Chris just found in his basement, will they be put together and released? I already have a Yeti from the recent release

Yes. Eventually. -Steve

I seriously think Happy Dragon is one of the coolest looking colorways ever! I hope there was enough good feedback to do it again sometimes in the future! :)

Thanks, glad you like it! Maybe we'll run it again. Haven't decided. -Steve

Should I get the last run AC2 when it releases or a new run Gnarwhal 2 when that releases?

Sure. -Steve

why are response pads so expensive?(i just want to know)

Expensive material, plus we make them in fairly small quantities. When you're making something that tiny, you need to make A LOT of them to really get them cheap. We can't make that many at once. -Steve

What does Ayumu Harada use for 4a? His 4a routines are insane!

I'm using Another Eagle+S from Japan Technology. -Ayumu

Steve when you school people on the YYE forums and I read your replies I'm all like... (I can't put links on askfm so go on YouTube and search WOMBO COMBO) I had that audio playing in my head when you school people hard. I'd do edits of that stuff if I had the tools to do it. ;) good job m8

Thanks. I don't really set out to "school people" I just get really impatient when people spread obvious misinformation. I have a low tolerance for bullsh*ttery. -Steve
