how do I know when to switch our my pads?

When your return top doesn't bind tightly with a fresh string, it's time to replace your pads. -Steve

Hey guys, I had an idea for a colorway for the Manatee, called “The Mermaid” it would be Light Green w/ Red and Purple splash (kinda like Disney´s Ariel) or just something around the idea, since you know, sailors back in the day mistook manatees for mermaids, what do you think guys, too silly?

Sounds neat, thanks for the suggestion! -Steve

Im currentlu learning to yoyo (advanced -master section on yye) and i love tech, should i get a borealis or an orca? ( i need a really long spin time)

Get an Orca until you have a bit more finesse in your play. The Orca is great for learning tricks, the Borealis is great for perfecting your style. -Steve

Im dyin...i aksed you this 1000 times, but ..i cant decide beetween orca and borealis-i love zach ,but i need something that is long spinning and good for learning tech tricks...can you give me a approx spin time on the borealis ,and is it good at learning new tricks? thank you..gosh...

Garbotei Alex
There is no "approximate spin time" on any return top, since there are a minimum of six major variables at play every single time you throw. Those variables are:
1. How hard you throw
2. How straight you throw
3. Condition of bearing
4. Condition of pads
5. Condition of string
6. Tights of wind from last throw
The Orca has more concentrated rim weight than the Borealis, though, so if you're looking for something to help you power through learning new tricks, I would recommend the Orca. -Steve

I remember asking you guys about 10 months ago if yi remember asking you if harrison lee would ever get a cabin tutorial and you said hes on the list. But tessa just got on the team like 2 months ago or something and she already has cabin tutorial. Do you go through this "list" in order, or random?

We go through this list in order of players who have someone near them who can film and edit tutorials. -Steve

Are you guys gonna have a booth at BAC? Saturday, I assume. If so, what will you be selling there?

Yes we will! Mostly plastic...we have some Fools Gold Big Dippers (play great but the printing is smudged) and some custom dyed Big Dippers. Might also do a pre-release of something new, but not sure yet. -Steve

Will we ever see the old school CLYW-types box cover art? The new stuff is nice but there's something cool about the old boxes.

Nope. -Steve

Are you guys still making Summits? I really want to get one. Btw, I just got my igloo and it's amazing!

Nope, Summit is retired.
Glad you like the Igloo! It turned out great!! -Steve

Is Chris going to compete at bac or is he just going to rep clyw?

Just going to hang out and run our booth. -Steve

CLYW Slackline anytime soon? Really like that stuff!

Last I heard there was another batch heading to YoYoExpert soon. -Steve

So I know you guys are super busy and have your plates filled but any updates on CLYW apparel and comics? Any stickers and stuff to rep CLYW?

Bunch of new apparel coming soon! We found an awesome print-on-demand place with good quality so we are in the process of printing test shirts and confirming colors and then you'll see a lot of new shirts available in our direct store. Just got a bunch of new stickers made, so those will start being added to the return top boxes again soon. -Steve

Are the blackout pickaxe t shirts at YYE in adult sizes? It just says small, medium, and large.

Yep, adult sizes. -Steve

So... Titanium coming? Please tell me is not above $300

We're still a couple of months away, so no final details or pricing yet. -Steve

Will u guys be attending asia pacific competition which is held in singapore?

You'll be fine. -Steve

Igloo vs Blizzard - also, are bimetals durable?

The Igloo is based on the Bear vs Man 2 design, but refined a bit more for Kurti's hella fast competition style of play.
The Blizzard is more organic shaped, and feels more traditionally CLYW. Having the external steel rims gives it a little more spin time and stability than the Igloo, but also slows it down a little compared to the Igloo.
The Blizzard will give you more power, the Igloo will give you more speed. Both will likely be more return top than the average player needs. ;)
As for durability, they are as durable as any other bi-metal on the market. Having a separate bit of metal-on-metal construction means if you ding 'em wrong the rings can shift and cause vibe. This is just a trade-off for bi-metal performance...what you lose in ability to take a hit you gain in performance. -Steve

Have you ever considered trying to get vice to do a documentary of the world yoyo contest?

Might be the other way around. I think we are lucky enough that they recently did a sweet article on yoyoing. -Chris

is there a difference between Bip Bop and Black Bip Bop? also what colours are on the Black Bip Bop?

Nope! Bip Bop is just the name for the speckle pattern: pink, yellow, blue and green. Black Bip Bop is just with a black base and Grey Bip Bop is with a grey base. Bip Bop is actually the name my wife would jokingly call her fictitious baby when she was younger. Luckily our first born was named Marin and not Bip Bop. -Chris

After spending some time with the igloo, what are some of your initial thoughts (Floaty, stable, etc)? Thanks!

What do you all think? -Chris
