so i know the yeti 2.0 is along way ahead but i was wondering if you guys plan to make this like the yyr diffusion where you release different colors,Opacities, etc?

No idea, but we don't look to other return top companies for inspiration with our releases. We try to stay focused on what we think will be the coolest thing for CLYW and don't worry too much about what other companies do. -Steve

Are fools golds available for purchase directly from you guys ?

Yes, when they are available. There are currently none available. -Steve

Thanks for the vibe question, and what about the ashberry chief question? I really hope can get one.

None planned. -Steve

Why do so many people hate on grooved bearings? I've never played one.

A grooved bearing holds the string loop in the center of the bearing and keeps it there. Which is great if you're just throwing long sleepers, but if you're doing string tricks then it doesn't let that string loop moving out of the way easily when you pile in more string segments. So it gets snaggy and problematic. Center Trac and CTX bearings solved this by pushing the string away from the walls of the return top, but still leaving room for string segment to push to the side and move around each other. -Steve

How do I get the break in process for my bearing go faster? Every time I try to play with it, I hear a loud kind of grinding sleep noise, and becomes responsive, and now the sleep time only lasts for about 15 seconds.

That's not "breaking in" that's "broken". Your bearing should not grind and become responsive, you've got something caught in there. Clean it out or replace the bearing. -Steve

How did you guys get over the vibe of yoyo? I always care about my slight vibe of my chief. I love chief soooo much and will any ashberry colourway release in the future?

When I started playing, the only "dead smooth" return top on the market was the Silver Bullet 2. Everything else was wood or plastic and they all had minor vibe. It really wasn't until 2004ish when metal return tops that were perfectly smooth started to become the norm. So the idea that a return top has to be "perfect" has only been expected by players for less than 10 years.
Something else that should be noted: the best players in the world don't pay anywhere near as much attention to their equipment as people who hang out on FB groups and worry about vibe. Hank Freeman won Worlds once with a pair of demo throws that he took off the Duncan table and put new strings on. Higher end players take care of their gear, but they don't worry about vibe like casual players do. -Steve

I can't wait till the 200 pieces of the Yeti be put together, even though I have one from the recent release. Should I get another one?

If you want to, sure. -Steve

Hey Steve, I noticed that on yoyonews, you only post about certain US regional contests... is there any reason why you don't cover all of them?

Because certain organizers don't bother to get in touch about promotion through YoYoNews, or bother sending me results. And honestly I just don't have time to chase everyone. -Steve

What is your all time favorite return top that is not a clyw return top?

Russell Professional. Love those things. -Steve

Any chance you guys would ever make...like a uh....like yeti head or yogi head or something with a hole so I could uh..wear it as a necklace. Certainly not to use for anything another company unfortunately owns the rights to.

No.

Waaaaay after. -Steve

Is the Summit a good choice? I enjoy the Bonfire

It's a good choice, but very different from the Bonfire. -Steve

Would you say the process was much more thorough or more of a learning experience with your most recent return tops (Scout, and Orca) compared to all your other designs? Would you say they're enhanced in potential Chris?

Having spent time designed a couple of return tops with Chris during my trip to Edmonton this year, I can say that the design process itself moves in fits and spurts, although Chris is constantly learning and absorbing. He's always looking at the way things are shaped and how they work and he's very critical of fit and finish everywhere. The design process for him seems to move fast when he has an idea, or when he's got someone else's idea that he needs to find a solution for. Collaborative designs, like the Orca, Scout, and Zach's new return top, take a bit longer because there is a ton of back-and-forth with the player. But generally speaking...everything is a learning experience, if you do it right. ;) -Steve
