which run / year did clyw start to let onedrop do their machining / anodizing? i realised the newer versions of the same colorways seem to have more splash than the older versions.

Don't remember exactly when One Drop starting doing our machining, but they've never done our anodizing.

How often do you guys release Fools Gold return tops?

Not very often. Especially since One Drop is doing our machining now, there aren't many Fools Gold in each run!

He left the team to work on his own brand, and it was a while ago. Not a big deal.

A while back, Jensen was selling off some of his raw Canvases and/or WM's, I think. Where did he get raw CLYW yo- *ahem* RETURN TOPS?

He had those Canvases because they were the last of the production and we simply shipped him the last of the stock before it had been anodized.
The raw WM2s he had were production protos.

Do you guys ship your return tops with slackline in the box? Also, I'm looking to put a CTX bearing in a Chief when I get one, should I expect the stock bearing to be seated very tight in the Chief? I ordered up the YYF Bearing removal tool to be safe, any tips on replacing it?

All of our return tops ship with Kitty String Fat.
There is variation in the halves as well as in the bearings, but we try to keep the tolerances tight because it makes the return top play better. You may or may not need a bearing removal tool, but if you do then be sure to wiggle it out slowly and take your time.

Not many at all...only 150 in this run!

Nope. We are no longer shipping new product with Center Trac bearings. All new CLYW product is shipping with flat 10-ball bearings.

what causes a yoyo to have vibe?

Machining error, bent axle, bad bearing, adhesive buildup under the response pads, flaws in the material, anodizing buildup on the bearing seat, etc etc.

Is vibe quantifiable? Like some of my yoyos have the tiniest buzz, some are entirely dead smooth, and some are god-awful full 2mm differential.

It's not really quantifiable without access to equipment that most of us don't have. So we just think of it as "an okay amount of vibe" versus "dumptrucks having seizures".
