out of context towards you guys, but did you snag a Markmont classic? what are your thoughts on the yoyo and Markmont himself?

Didn't get one! I got a few throws with one at Nationals and it seemed really nice. I've known Mark for a really, really long time...most people don't know he was one of the original Duncan Crew members that I put on the team. ;) - Steve

Steve, do you like Cliff? :O

I love it! It's a personal favorite from the CLYW line. I like my return tops all big and lightweight. - Steve

Why don't you release anything raw

Raw aluminum oxidizes, and without the anodizing the bearing seat can be too soft and end up deforming. It's just a bad idea, even though they look AWESOME. - Steve

Does vibe actually mean you have a faulty yoyo, or is a little really no big deal at all?

It means that something went wrong. Now, what that something is could be any number of things, large or small. Bad machining, flawed material, build up of anodization on the bearing seat, jenky bearing, bent axle, debris in the threading, etc etc etc. Vibe can be incredibly minor (which it usually is) or it can be completely debilitating.
Generally speaking, as long as it's just a little bit of vibe (like on our Fools Gold return tops, or the average plastic return top) it isn't really going to affect play. - Steve

It's funny, i hear people get teased all the time in the yoyo community at contests about how they only like CLYW because they are so popular and there are other companies better, but I've tried other companies, and i always come back to your stuff. It just plays like nothing else. Thank you!

Thanks for your support!
There are always gonna be people who don't quite get it, or do get it and just aren't in to it. Sometimes those people like to mock the things they don't like, instead of just agreeing that their tastes run differently. Weird, right?
Either way, glad you enjoy what we're doing. We appreciate it. :) - Steve

I love the cabin tuts even though I can't learn most of them I end up taking away a bunch of new concepts that they would have thought of before.

Awesome! Yeah, I never learn other people's tricks, but I will watch them and look for new ideas and inspiration. Great way to freshen up your play. - Steve

Steve, do you still sell yoyo art? If so where is it available at?

Not at the moment...I've put that business on hold for the time being.-Steve

chris, you have stated before that the Chief was what put CLYW in/on-top-of the competition metal yoyo design. My question to you now is which do you think has better performance the Puffin2, or the Chief?

It's not really a "better/worse" scenario. I think the Puffin 2 is definitely a *little* better geared towards current play, being a more recent design, but the Chief was a pretty advanced design for the time and still handles current tricks just fine. - Steve

What is, or was, the bear trap?

It's a prototype that never made it into production...a return top with swappable metal caps. Neat idea, but just didn't work out.

I'm debating another clyw. As of now I have a puffin 2 and a wm2. I've also owned a chief in the past. I've decided it down between a gnarwhal 2 or an avalanche. I'm looking for something stable, moderately fast, can handle intricate tech, and bring a smile to your face. What are your thoughts?

Sounds like the Gnarwhal 2 is what you are looking for. Such a great return top! - Steve

What are some really good tricks to improve your technical play? I have trouble weaving in and out of chopstick tricks?

Best thing to work on is whatever you're having a hard time with. Just muscle through it! - Steve

How did you feel the Hulk Smash ano on the Puffin2 came out? I have one and i feel like its the best Hulk Smash yet. The green has such a subtle beautiful depth to it. Very elegant, and classy over all. I just think someone should speak on it!

We like it. - Steve
