That is 100% a matter of personal preference. Generally speaking, a bi-metal will give the the most spin time to figure things out, but that's an expensive proposition if you're just getting started. Compass has a ton of rim weight too, which is helpful. -Steve
I can't wait for what you have up your sleeve to take the moonshine's place! I really hope it'll still come responsive! I absolutely my moonshine and still have it responsive to this day!
What is it that gives yoyos that really smooth grinding surface? Is it the anodizing or the blasting?
Blasting.
so why you guys decide to use snowtires as respond pads? and why is the size different from other pads? what triggers the idea?
The original CLYW response was flowable silicone, but that's such a pain in the butt. The Snow Tires were designed to fit in the response grooves of existing return tops. We kept making them that way because a) they work great and b) they work great. -Steve
What do you mean by blasted finish?Weren't all basecamps already blasted? When is the release? I missed out last time-.-
No, they weren't blasted. Release is coming soon....I think they might hit retailers this week. Check with your favorite retailer for details. -Steve
Big dipper or Yeti 2?
Yep.
Why aren't you guys doing another run of Tundras with Luftverk?
I don't know what Chris and Jeffrey have discussed, but I'd rather do something different if we're going to work with him on another collaboration. -Steve
What are the indicators that one must look out for when it comes to replacing strings?
When it gets dirty and crappy looking, change it. -Steve
When will the photos of the new Igloo release?
Tomorrow. -Steve
I just found out that the moonshine wasn't available to purchase alone on yoyoexpert, why did you decide to do that? It was probably the most hyped up base camp model and would have been a really strong individual release.
We only had a small handful of them left after Worlds, so we put them in packs for collectors. We honestly didn't think they would sell very well to begin with! The yoyo has already been discontinued and is being replaced with something new that will not be limited. -Steve
Just received my Borealis (Maideraide) in the mail and it is possibly the smoothest and most versatile yoyo in my collection! Thank you so much for designing such a sweet yoyo!
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying it...thanks so much for the support! -Steve
when dose the bnam bmental come thru?
We had a HUGE shipping delay on these. FedEx totally screwed us...the box went from Chris to me, but for some reason it got to Ohio, sat in their warehouse for a few days, and then got shipped back to Chris without them even attempting to deliver it! WTF!?It's en route back to Chris, and as soon as he gets it he'll ship it back to me. Slowed everything WAY down, and we're really sorry about it, but I'll get these orders filled as soon as they arrive I promise! -Steve
My calluses are starting to split. Besides from hand lotion, is there any easy to prevent this from happening in the future?
Why are the specs so different on your return tops on different sites? Do different runs sometimes have different specs?
Specs can vary slightly from run to run (and even within a run), but everyone is also using different tools to measure and possibly measuring differently. Lots of room for numbers to wiggle around, even if there are no noticeable changes from a player perspective. -Steve
You guys gonna have a booth/ be there at Illinois Yoyo Contest?
No booth. Not sure if any team members will be there. -Steve
What are the benefits of a longer axle? For instance, my scout has the longer axle and a "nipple", but the compass has a short axle and a finger spin hub. Does the axle effect stability or what?
Longer axles just make the return top more physically sturdy, and less prone to stripping. We tend to avoid small axles when possible, but sometimes the design just demands it. -STeve
Howdy, how soon is the new run of Igloo's dropping?
North America - Nov. 17th / 10 PM EST / 7 PM PSTRest of World - Nov 18th 2 AM GMT
Could there be a possibility that Chris could go collaborate on his own with Luftverk and together make the Pool Party X Luftverk Mango?
He was all "I WILL CUT YOU" and then he punched through a wall and make some nearby kids cry. Nah, he was just "wtf" and then started working on new tricks. -Steve
