Super excited for the peak 2! Is it going to be similar to the old peaks in shape or play, or is it something completely on its own? Either way, I'm totally getting it.
It's a refinement of the original Peak design. Very similar, but fixes a few problems that always bugged Chris. -Steve
Next return top that is releasing?????
Peak 2
Are all retailers getting the same colorway Gorges as pre-release ones?
Yup
Hey, same person as last, they are all sold out 😢
Then they likely haven't restocked yet. Hit them at contact@YoYoExpert.com. -Steve
Will the Peak 2 be sold only on CLYW.ca or on other sites as well?
The first run of the Peak 2 will only be sold at CLYW.ca. Future runs (yep, I said it, it's gonna stay in the line!) will be offered to all CLYW retailers. -Steve
What are the advantages of having a yoyo as thin as the gorge
It's not really "thin" like a Moonshine or anything. It's just when you have something that large in diameter, a narrower profile helps with stability. -Steve
Sorry! We had some ideas for it but nothing that quite panned out. Other designs came together much quicker so we focused on those. It'll happen in 2017, don't worry. -Steve
Fat, silly, fun! The larger diameter makes it feel really light and floaty, the steel rims give it a ton of spin time, and the round profile feels super nice in the hands. It's got a little bit of kick back due to the diameter, but it's really only noticeable if you use a thinner string (or if your string is nastied out and ready to be changed). It's one of those things that looks like a novelty, but once you start actually using it you find yourself reaching for it waaaay more often than you expect. Right now I have the Gorge, the Kodiak, the Dune, and Creep on my counter and I've spent the past week reaching for the Gorge almost every time. Thanks, Kanye! -Steve
Have you guys ever considered starting a club or like a subscription based service thing? Where the average joe can buy in and get discounts on CLYW gear, bearings, early access to new throws, etc. Like a members only type gig?
We've thought about it, but there's a lot of work into making that sort of thing function correctly, and we don't have our manufacturing planned out far enough in advance (yet) to really be able to guarantee something like that for our fans. It's rattling around in our heads, but it's not a priority at the moment. -Steve
So I dinged my igloo, something fierce. It has a sharp edge that sticks out now. What is the best method for refinishing the rims? I don't care about the finish. I just want to be able to do palm grinds again.
This is gonna sound rough, but seriously...just take a metal file and grind it out. I used to use one built into a Leatherman tool and it worked fine. You can go gently and try to just grind down that burr or you can be like me and get all "WHO CARES ABOUT FLAT SPOTS!?" and just blast that sucker down. Either way, the goal is just to smooth it out and a metal file will do the trick. -Steve
Any plans for fade colourways for basecamp throws?
Thanks! We've already caught heat for it, ha ha. It's a total throwback design, but ginned up to play to modern standards. Some people see that as a cop out, some see it as a total BS move, some see it as the best thing every, and everyone sees it how they want to see it. Chris and I see it as a love letter to the kind of return tops that set is on the path we're on today. Side note: Chris & Alec came up with the idea for this while they were hanging out at a Kanye concert. So if anyone doesn't like it, blame Kanye. The Peak 2 is coming soon, and that will be another fat, round, fun return top that is a throwback to early CLYW. Chris is doing what he's always done....designing return tops that he wants to play with. I'm pretty stoked on all of it. :) -Steve
