Will there be any more boxes with special artwork for future Maiderade colorways, or was the Puffin 2's artwork a one-time thing?
We'll use that box art on future Maiderade Puffin 2s for sure. -Steve
My return top is became very responsive all the sudden. I tried lubing the bearing and switching out the bearing as well. Any idea on what I can do to make it unresponsive?
Lubing the bearing ADDS response, unless you're using something that companies called "thin lube" which is basically just a thinner that actually cuts and dilutes the lube currently in the bearing. Without actually seeing the return top in person it's pretty hard to diagnose, though. Twiddle with it some more, and if you need more help drop me a line at steve@clyw.ca. -Steve
So what year are the Yetis releasing? because you just said febuary you didn't say what year
We're trying really hard to get some out by the end of this month. -Steve
We're still working on the future plans for the Yeti. Sorry, but we just don't have answers to that yet. -Steve
What story are you telling by putting a crappy flat bearing that none of you team member likes nor plays with, bearing that Steve confessed immediately throws away and replaces. Your answer (just replace it) is not enough since most of us do not have gazillion spare bearing or live close to a shop..
It's a really good story, actually, and a very important one. And that story is called "The Customer Is NOT Always Right". See, the only reason we switched to these flat bearings in the first place was due to pressure from vocal customers who started a 140+ message thread on Facebook to complain very, very loudly about the CTX bearings that were shipping with all of our return tops at the time. We knew that CTX bearings were the best option for our products, we knew that our designs worked best with a centering bearing, and we knew that of all the centering bearings we tried, we liked the CTX the best. But what we did was second-guess ourselves due to a very vocal minority of customers. We thought we were doing the right thing, letting our customers shape our production, but we forgot something very important:The customers were there in the first place because of OUR vision for the company, not theirs. It was the decisions that we made that created these products, it was the decisions we made that shaped the brand and the products and the history and the story of our company, and it was the decisions we made in the first place that gave these people a reason to be talking about us in the first place. You can always trust your customers to tell you what they want, but you can't always trust them to KNOW what they want. We gave our buyers what they asked for, and it wasn't what they actually wanted. What they actually wanted was the best possible product we could produce, and with those flat bearings...it just wasn't the best implementation of our designs. So, beginning with the upcoming run of Puffin 2s, we are switching back to CTX bearings for all production releases. For the players who complained about CTX bearings being slightly responsive during their breaking-in period, we will be adding a single drop of thin lube during assembly to reduce that initial responsiveness while still protecting the bearing. So there's your story. Also, maybe be a little less rude when you're demanding answers from people in a public forum. It's kind of grating, and with someone a little less patient than me it might just get your question deleted instead of answered. Just a friendly heads up. -Steve
The pick axes on my Fools gold are not lining up.. Like one is on the other side. Is there a way to fix it? Like get a new axel or something? Just my ocd lol
They were lined up when we engraved it and shipped it to you, and lined up when you got it, so you probably don't need a new axle. ;) -Steve
