what benefits do get by using a fatter style of silicon pads considering most other companies use slim I can think of you one drop that use fat pads
The broader surface area means that when it's time to bind, there is more material to grab the string and thus a tighter bind. It's all a matter of preference, but our preference is a broader pad. Also, since there is so much more surface area to grab the string for the bind, the wear distributes more evenly and the pads last longer. -Steve
Honestly, don't look into budget metals. What caught my attention about you guys is how authentic and great quality your products were. That made me really want a yoyo from you guys because you retain integrity and if you lower standards, I feel that you'll become like any other brand. Stay awesome
Not sure how "authentic" and "great quality" mean that we can't put out something less expensive. Here's the conversation that Chris and I have been having...is there a part of the CLYW story that it would make sense to tell at a lower price point? That, to us, is the only reason to release a lower-end return top. Is there a story to tell there? We think there is, but the logistics of a company our size releasing something at a lower price are kinda daunting. It's something we're talking about and investigating but I promise you...if we do it, it will be every bit as "authentic CLYW" as everything else we've ever released. -Steve
Thanks for the quick reply on the Scout rim. I'm going to pick up an Advance Scout because I'm a collector and love the rim design. You guys really produce such beautiful works of art!
Thanks!
seriously what's it play like? floaty? solid? how stable is it ?
It plays like a Bach concerto, broadcast through speakers made of brownies. -Steve
What is it about the chief that marks it as an all-time iconic CLYW? I'm not too familiar with your brand history, apart from knowing a little about the story of the peak. I've got an FG BvM2 plus a Gnarwhal 2, and might consider getting a Chief. (:
Before the Chief the only throws that really had any distributed rim weight was the Supernova with the step. The Chief was an alternative to the step by having a double rim. The way we did it though made a large throw play quick like a smaller one and had a nice floaty feeling too. I think the double rims impressed people because it was never done before. The play is just really neat and different than anything else. Super proud of that throw. - Chris
Since CLYW is based in Canada, do any of the team know French?
As far as Canadians go we had 2 Canadian players and Me (Chris). I can get by barely on the 7 years of French I took in school. I am pretty sure Harrison can speak it. He can do anything. Not sure about Chuck though. - Chris
There some parts in the Bonfire video that I want to learn. Chuck and his magical ways. Can we get sum cabin tutorials?
You might be waiting for a long time. Maybe better to just watch that video on slo-mo over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. -Steve
