So I just bought a new Bonfire from YYE (So pumped!), and picked up an extra pair of white Snow Tires to go with it. However, I read on some forums that the white snow tires are apparently inferior to the aqua ones. Is there any truth to this? Is there a vast difference between the two? Thank you!

Only difference is color. You're good! -Steve

What makes designs cost more than others? I know, you guys set the prices and that's kind of final, but why are -for example- Chiefs more than Bonfires?

We make fewer of them, so our unit cost is higher. -Steve

Thoughts on silver plating?

Looks absolutely beautiful! But silver is soft, so there is a higher scrap rate and potential for problems. But man, it's gorgeous. -Steve

What is the best way to develop style when it comes to yoyoing/return topping?

There is no other way than doing the tricks you like (and not compromising on that) and practicing for a long time. Most people take 10 years to their stride in anything. It shouldn't matter though, as long as you enjoy playing that's what you should be doing it for.
But yeah, style isn't something that you can force or think your way to achieving; it just happens organically over a very long period of time and even then it is likely to change in the future. So yeah, you need to be honest with what you like, and you need to be very proficient with the tools you're using for your personality to shine through.

Hi guys! Huge fan of the Cabin Tutorials— just wondering what kind of lighting hardware you use for those, if it's anything special. Thanks!!

A 60 or 100w lightbulb with a soft reflector on one side (those white umbrella reflectors) - and a stronger work light with the same soft reflector on the other. Sometimes (though we have recently forgotten) we put a black light on directly in front of us to help the string pop. But yeah, for generally good lighting just have a fairly strong source and a way to diffuse it. Diffusing can mean reflecting or shining it through a shower curtain or something like that, just to soften it up.

Advance scout or chief?

For as similar as they might look, they play really different. I've been playing them both side-by-side for the last few days and I can definitely say that the Chief is more of a casual player while the Advance Scout is more of a competition model. -Steve

The previus question about exclusivity- would be a ferrari exclusive car if everyone could afford that?

You seem to be under the impression that everyone can afford CLYW. They can't. We produce return tops with an average retail price around $130 USD. What about that doesn't seem exclusive enough for you?
And you should understand that the price of CLYW return tops is not about exclusivity, it's about sustainability. We charge what we have to charge in order to make enough money for the company to continue. Our return tops are expensive to make, and we have a large team that is expensive to support.
CLYW is about art and good design and great playability and having an awesome time. Those things can get expensive when you make the effort to do them right. But we think they're worth it, and we're really grateful that so many other people agree. :) -Steve

how different will be a final model of scout form prototype?

Different weight and weight distribution, and a different profile in the cup...closer to the Bear vs Man 2. -Steve

How much are the new run of Cheifs going to cost? I'm assuming around $155. I really want one but I don't think I can afford it :( I guess I can get one used off the BST later

Retail price on these should be about the same as the last run. -Steve

Release date on the scout I got to tell my mom so she can get for me for Christmas lol.

Early December. We'll announce as soon as it's been finalized. -Steve

Is there only going to be blue black and silver on the scout?

Nope. There will be two more solid colors as well! Pics when they arrive! -Steve

You (Steve,Chris etc...) have stated in the past that Clyw is somewhat of a smaller sized yoyo company. If this is the case why do you guys have such a large team? When questions pop-up of why Clyw return tops are so expensive one of the reasons stated is,and im paraphrasing, "the team has grown".

Well, think about it like this....how many ways are there really to promote a small return top company?
Having a team of sponsored players is one of the best ways to promote professional quality return tops. If you build products that are good enough for some of the best players in the world to want to use them in competition, then working with those players just makes sense. -Steve

Just saw your scout blog. Looks sweet! How would you say this differs from the Chief? It looks pretty similar. Mainly interested in hearing about difference in stability and spin time.

There are a lot of differences, although they are visually subtle but definitely affect play. Slightly heavier, different weight distribution for better stability and spin time, profile that handles horizontal and counterweight play better, and just generally more competition friendly. -Steve

What is the estimated price on the Scout prototypes? I better start saving up now..

It should be in-line with the usual prices for our solid color releases. Haven't quite finalized it yet. -Steve
