I know you've answered this before, but what is the name of the script font you sometimes use to write "CLYW?"

Mission. Don't really use it anymore. -Steve

Isn't that what state contests are for? So people gather and throw down/put on a show and companies can sell their crap? It's sad that yoyosams is "sponsoring to make money" but when you guys do it it's apparently different? Either way it was fun a show without your personal beef.

What are you talking about? You're obviously all mad about something but I can't exactly tell what? Are you mad that we didn't have product at that "PA YoYo Slam" thing? We don't have product at most contests, unless one of our retailers are there. YoYoSam was the only retailer there, and they aren't a CLYW retailer, so that means no CLYW product there.
We didn't sponsor the contest because it didn't seem like a good opportunity for us. We don't sponsor a lot of contests. It's expensive and we have to be really selective because we are a small company and can't afford much. It's also not run to NYYL standards and not actually a "state contest", just a heads up.
I just spent like 15 minutes scrolling through our Ask.fm feed trying to find this "beef" that you're so bent out of shape about, and there's nothing there. So if you want to talk to me about whatever you are raging about, hit me up at steve@clyw.ca. Otherwise, glad you had fun at that slam thing. -Steve

Hi Steve! What do you think makes tricks "flowing"? Do you think that there are elements that are ruining flow (hops or dropping the yoyo from the string) or benefit it (reversing or doubling mounts)? I'm having a really hard time trying to make up long, flowing tricks.... :/

If you see something that you perceive to have a lack of "flow" then that has nothing to do with the elements and everything to do with the player and the construction.
What makes a trick "flowing" is building a trick where each element naturally feeds into the next, and then performing it smoothly so that the illusion of one, single, fluid movement is maintained no matter how many individual elements there are.
The thing about flow is that there isn't a formula...it's entirely up to you to connect all your elements in ways that make sense. And what that requires is that you really, deeply understand all of your tricks down to the point where they are intuitive, and then you practice the transitions as much as the tricks themselves. Some people have a natural talent for building tricks this way, others have to work hard at it, but anyone *could* do it.
Just keep at it. ;) -Steve

Hey Chris and/or Steve! Too often I find myself standing in my room and just throwing and binding repeatedly in different styles. I just feel that binding has such a rewarding feeling to it haha! Which one is your favourite way to bind? Would be cool to get an answer from some team members as well!

My fav bind is the Guy Wright bind. If you can't do it. Definitely learn it! So rewarding! -Chris

What is your favorite color out of the Borealis batch? I think I'm getting a purple!

I really like the purple and the gold. :) -Steve

plans for delirium dive, 1.21 gigawatts and hulk smash scouts?

We don't "plan" colorways. When we have parts and they arrive at the anodizer, Chris and I jump into a chat real quick, open up a Google doc, and then decide right then. -Steve

Can you recommend a yoyo bag/carrying case?

I just throw mine in the bottom of my man-purse. YoYoExpert seems to have a bunch of options, though. -Steve

I ordered my green Borealis!! Also have you guys started on color ways for the splashed Borealis?

Yes we have! No idea when they will be available, though. -Steve

Trying to find the exact number of how much each colorway of the Chiefs released back in July were. On the blog, it says there are very limited quantities and a google search says 18 for most and 14 for 2 other colorways. Do you know the numbers exactly or confirm that the google search is correct?

We never kept track of that, sorry. -Steve

Did yoyoexpert did the sanding on the yetis? It doesnt break the string like what people have been saying...

Nope, no sanding at all. -Steve

So from a prev. Post it sounds like you're messing with one of your current designs... bimetal campfire? Lololololololol..borealis' look prime btw! Wish I was snagging one tmrw :D It's too bad you guys won't be at PA states.. any reason?

It's not an actual state contest, it's just this thing that YoYoSam put together to promote themselves. Not interested. -Steve
