Thoughts on why washington failed to get a ring

Just simply better teams this year. they had a good season but this was a strong group of teams in 5A.

Are you going to have a dunk of the year award?

We are hosting a dunk contest. I haven't really had a specific award.

You should have Jamal Wooten and Xavier Tucker on your show Sunday they both signed with Dodge City in February

Last show for year was on March 2nd. working on what will be doing next year.

I agree that having "team players" is what it takes to win a state championship. Saw it with basehor and now Lansing. Murphy's and Schneider both could have easily scored 5-7 more points per game but were more worried about the defensive end and getting a W

Semi Ojeleye basically won a championship by himself. it is rare though a dominant player alone wins.

Henley was quoted saying "if bonner beats us in baseball I'll transfer to bonner for my senior year" Thoughts on that?

Can you really anonymously quote someone? I don't believe Bonners baseball team was much good last year so I wouldn't worry much.

What was the last 'nice' thing you did for yourself?

I don't do much for myself these days. I get more satisfaction out of doing something for others.

Yes, people are COMPLETE idiots and quick to jump to the wrong conclusion! That earlier comment was meant as a complement to a good team that was willing to check their egos at the door for the good of the TEAM! Just because some are nasty doesn't mean everyone is! Take a compliment!

We should all be happy for Lansing. represented the area with class. My comment by the way speaks to the infestation of idiocy that exists. some people worry about zombies taking over but we should be concerned about the dumbies.

some people are idiots lansing won because they played good defense and made clutch shots it doesn't matter if they spread the scoring around or not

I would have to agree with all of this especially the fact that there are a lot of idiots in the world.

Lansing was successful because they played as a team. It was obvious they didn't care who led scoring nightly. Other teams would find more success if they played this way. Watching several league games, I tip my hat to those who tried to maintain team cohesiveness and let others score.

There were a couple of teams that had a number of players in double figures. Lansing won because they had the best group of players.

Beemolo must not have attended any Lansing basketball games this season. To leave Joe Lendway offf his KVL team seems a bit absurd.

Its his opinion. The list came out before the last few games which would strengthen Joe's case. I like the young man. being his size and have the ability to finish consistently at the rim is important. I need to look at his final numbers. People are not going to like my list either. Maybe this is why the KVL chooses the reward everybody approach. At least he put himself out there with an opinion.

So in the case of girls POY shouldnt one of the factors be the ability to propel your team to a league championship and or state birth

Sure but did someone on a team with three or four talented players distinguish themselves as the best overall player in the city? Jessica, Tori, Haley all could lead in scoring. I don't have a game log of their stats so I have to go a bit off the top of the dome. They were a good team this year which does not lend itself to an individual honor like this.

Back to orig. Question - would you consider him a valid source of information for the team? Since you know him well. Trust worthy ?

I trust Rodney and consider him a valid source but I heard it from two people. we will find out soon enough.

Yea you heard it from Rodney and he has no idea what he's talking about

I heard it from him and another so two!!

I hope you know jack dale is not going to Basehor?

We will see. I haven't heard it from him or a coach so that is all I can do is wait.

He just always has an opinion on Basehor Had Jack Dale information as well. Does he have a kid on the team or program?

He is a Basehor grad and has done some broadcasting for them. I know him well and he is a loyal Basehor fan.

Bishop Ward recieved a transfer from miege this year but he had to sit out he can maybe help Ward? But overall bishop is gonna be good trust me.

Ok. Ward has had a transfer the last few years. We will see I guess.

Who is this Rodney1904 and why should I believe a word he says?

What did he say that we should believe?

So what you are saying is the POY for girls is really only between 2 girls and you'll throw in a token 3rd name? Way to tip your hand. Should have waited to announce until you could name all 3. Shame you decided on a winner some time ago I assume.

There are many facets to the award that we look at. Winning being important but in the case of Piper was there was not really a stand out player as they had a complete team. Arika Smith's numbers were very good but she had a 12-10 record and didn't win the KCAL and got bounced in the first round of substate. Sophomore Sydnei Patton won the KCAL with a 9-1 record and came on strong at the end but again got bounced. Posted a 24 point and 19 rebound game though so that is good. Donesha Womack posted a 48 point game. Julianne Jackson almost averaged a double double. Cushinberry at Atchison averaged a double double this season. So no I didn't tip anything. I am really hung up on the number of candidates because who I name as finalist will also be on the first team for the girls as well. I will release the final candidates once I have figured it out. It is not as clear cut as the boys was in my mind. No the 3rd or the 4th will not be a token candidate or I wouldn't name a third.
