Tongie fans might be getting a little angry that the last once of athleticism just left they're school.... Oops

I would be more upset from a loyalty stand point. In the end sports are a small part of the high school experience.

This is just my opinion but I've talked to Aslin and he feels very confident with the up and coming players they are building this year. They have large lineman that haven't seen much time (Jones and Roult) and possibly double tight this year (Pearce and Hogan) both are 200+ and are good athletes

I wouldn't expect any coach at this junction to say they are going to be bad. They have pieces I am sure as he has done an excellent job building a program. We will just have to see if those that were watching last year will be able to perform this year.

How is Dontae Gibson not getting more post season recognition? The kid does so many things that don't show up on a stat sheet. You'd think people who know basketball would recognize that.

I really like Dontae's game but lets be honest just at your description. That in this day and age of basketball is a role player. Does that mean he isn't good? No. He could probably put up some sick numbers at another school but why would he want to do that. Stats drive all post season honors at every level.

How much are the all star game tickets? And can we pay at the door

Yes you can. Organizations at a school can sell tickets though and get 10% of sales back to their organization. All presale tickets are $7. Adults at the door will be $10 and students $7.

Thoughts on Bonner Football in 5A next year?

Struggle. I really have a hard time grasping reloading with so much offense lost and a defenisve POY candidate.

Do you see Washington repeating and going to the playoffs finally ?

I need to see Horde in action at receiver. They have a good shot.

What do you think of Mitchell ballock? D1 material? NBA material?

I will never answer NBA. D1 is a big enough leap let alone trying to determine if a kid is going to be in the less than 1% in the world to play the game. He is going to be good. I would like to see him pack on a few lbs but I say that about most. We will see how he develops. Eudora has 3 more years to look forward to. Don't wish him away yet.

So is it a forsure thing for dale transferring?

I have a lot of reliable sources but no parent, coach or player officially stating it so in my eyes it is still speculation.

How mad do you think head coaches are at Tonganoxie high school?

I have an email out to Coach Phillips. If he responds I don't know yet. I know I would be hot. I will see if I get any good quotes from either and how honestly he is willing to answer on record.

What do you do to entertain yourself?

I try my best to be a photographer, sports blogger, radio show host, play by play announcer, marketing, accounting, sales for a not for profit dedicated to high school sports.

Why is there no All Underclassmen team for the girls ?

There is no real good reason honestly. I can think of a couple but for the guys I use it as a tool to think about the future and those players able to excel at the variety level. I can think of a couple. Brown at Sxhlagle, the young pg at Lansing. Again no real good answer. I will add to my list.

Will sumner be a competitor in the KCAL football league next year?

I don't what they will have on the line and how much Miller progresses. are any of the young plauers skilled enough to take his spot? not impossible.

To say that tonganoxie has Dale transferring for 'educational' purposes is garbage. The staff at THS is great and Jack gets the 'All Star' treatment. It's strictly based on basketball. Any different explaination is a lie. He's had two DECENT years and he won't be able to do it all by himself at THS.

That was put out there. I don't have quotes from either coach yet and not from him so to me this is still all a bit of speculation. If it is academic why not Blue Valley? I live in Olathe and think highly of this school system as well. Decent years as a freshman and sophomore and had the opportunity i am sure to go down in Tonganoxie history but now he will be an important piece for Basehor. This doesn't guarantee anything but puts a ton of pressure on next year. I know some hang their hat on the 19-0 JV team but if it was about a state title it has would need to be next year with a bit of development from Muldoon.

Just saw your SHUKC lists. It's a shame you are just looking at numbers as you stated. It seems some kids are being dismissed because they did have lots of scorers on the team and they didn't need to score as much. That seems to diminish being a team player.

This is the dilema with this type of conversation. I have to use numbers as part of the guide but yes it does hurt players that are on a winning "team" IF you have 4 or 5 players that all can contribute at a high level. Stats however tell a complete story of what a kid is doing on the floor though. 1 season is a small sample size but if you shoot 40% - 45% from the field, 30% from 3 and 60% from the FT line then those numbers hurt you. So points per game is a stat to look at but rebounding, assists, shooting percentage, assist to turnover ratios all play a huge factor. passing the eye test is also important. People are focused on numbers but winning certainly helps a team like Lansing. If we did a draft or if I were playing one game certainly my list would be a little different but we have said who are the best players and who had the best year. All individual awards are interesting in a team game like basketball. Is it the guy knocking down the shot or setting the screen?

who u think is going to be pound for pound best defensive players in KCAL next year (Football )

Rodney McNeal, Phillips (Schlagle), Steve Peoples.

Piper really got snubbed on your list! Can't believe not one player deserved honors. I hope your not letting all the "your pro Piper" talk effect your decisions now.

I made no secret the entire year how I felt about Piper. Luke Long specifically is one of my favorite players and kids like him are why I follow the area. It is not really a slight but when we dug into the stats they just weren't up there with those that we listed. Eskina, Jennings were also considered and discussed but their individual numbers this year again didn't match up. This list is an individual performance list and it is not that I don't think any of these three or you can even include Owens but it is the case that each of those 3 or 4 could lead the team that night. If I did a third team or honorable mention you would see a Pirate but stats were the key for Piper players being excluded. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/piper-pirates-(kansas-city,ks)/basketball/stats.htm

Thoughts on Jack Dale officially transferring to basehor today?

None really other than it is sad for Tonganoxie. I know the recruiting talk will get going but if his parents made a decision to sell and move in Basehor's district then ok. I have heard of parents moving to Texas for example for football. I don't really know what this accomplishes unless there was some type of conflict with the administration with Tongie. Recruiting for basketball is 90% AAU and that is just my opinion on it. He is a good player that will improve Basehor's chances in 2015. Two key transfers for Basehor the last two seasons from with in the league.
