mill valley can't play a lick of defense
They were a soup kitchen especially in that first quarter. Lansing has owned them now on their own floor the last two seasons.

What can washington do to get better
Washingtons glaring problem stuck out like a sore thumb. They don't have a shooter. so either they turn you over and get layups or they will struggle in the half court. big guys needs to get more aggressive as well.

Did you, or anyone you know, think Piper would have this much success this quickly? It really appears they have turned things around from just a couple of years ago.
When you acquire that much playing time to a core of young players then you will develop a special group IF that core group of player is good and dedicates. No you don't predict 1 or 2 wins and then a trip to state.
What do you think about Atchison High boys basketball now
The value of guard play is grossly under rated but not by me. If you have a PG that has a better than 2 to 1 assist to turn over ratio then you have solid base to work with. Washington did not look good last night but still got the game to overtime. There are still signs of youth on the squad taking quick shots with the lead but that will be learned in time. 22 and 23 were very active on the boards and just out worked Washington on the glass who were a lot longer than ATchison but for some reason could not rebound. Not a deep team but a positive league start for Atchison.

I was a huge fan of his and the run they made at State. We named him to our very first team his senior year. So a part of the original group. I had heard he got hurt but would be very happy to hear he is doing well. Very gifted player.
Top five out of the last five years then?
Chase Younger, Alex Garvin, Colin Murphy, Joe Schneider, Wyatt Voorhess, Deandre King. You could stretch with players like David Patton, Brandon Roark although he was more of a driver. BJ Watson could fire it up as well.
How has Koch been playing? And what do you think of the mill valley vs Lansing game tonight ?
I don't get the stats from Mill Valley. I know they have really missed Boatright but I understand he will be back on the team. I don't believe he is playing tonight against Lansing. Koch shocked me against Piper and I didn't get the impression he was doing anything that surprised himself too much. He looked very comfortable but again no stats on the last 3 games where they are 1-2. I would pick Lansing tonight without Boatright.

Harmon is in a bit of trouble with Atchison's emergence. They have little size and the size they have should be on the wing. No. He is a sophomore and I have seen players go on to play at the D1 level and even the NBA. He is doing very well but that is a premature conversation.
Prediction for the sumner atchison game?
I need to think a bit more. I obviously wouldn't share the conversations I heard last night sitting with Coach Parra and Johnson from Sumner. I will say they have some good ideas on what to do with them. Atchison is not very deep and blew a 15 point lead so perhaps some conditioning issues coming out the break.

I hope we are saying this year. Schneider, Zach Jackson, Luke Long. He could be in the conversation. You have to keep in mind that he didn't exactly shoot a high percentage. It was just good timing when he got hot. 43% from 3 is good so you could make the argument.
Basehor is a complete team now with the addition to the big man Muldoon.
I would argue they were near complete without them. Sanders was doing just fine as a big.

No. Twins are a legit 6'5. McGee twins would struggle to get a shot and would get trashed down low. They have time to develop so this isn't a good conversation to me really. Different players.

basehor barely broke a sweat last night and thumped Turner, looks like the addition of muldoon has opened up the court and provided that missing big man piece.
I will need to watch the game. I would have expected a big win for Basehor. There is a sizable gap between the top 3 or 4 and the rest of the league.

I do name an underclassmen team at the end of the year. I really believe this may be more competitive than the main team and there may be a shot at some of these underclassmen landing on the top team. It would be a competitive game. KVL names: McGee twins, Logan Koch, Jack Dale, KCAL - Gill, Wykes, Luster, Young, Richardson.

What do you think about the atchison squad tonight on the big win against Washington??
I was there and saw it first hand. I was impressed. Too tired to go deep into it. Wykeen Gill looked like a senior PG outside a few late TO's. Luster is a true shooter and willing to trigger at any second. Questionable on a couple of pulls but had my eyes wide open on the two threes in OT. I like him although very small. A good team will take advantage of that. Very impressive. Answered the bell big time despite taking a big run from Washington late.
