Not a SHUKC topic but what are your thoughts on the Clippers owner situation

I agree with a lot of what Steven A Smith and Mark Cuban said. We are all bigots in one way or another. I am guilty of it myself in that I turned on the TV Sunday night on HBO and saw Julia Roberts in a movie. I forget the name but I like her as an actor. The movie was about AIDS in the 80's etc so a lot of homosexual content to the point that it was basically soft porn. My wife and I decided to turn the channel but I was a little turned off by that on the surface as HBO used their most powerful night of the week to show that to America. So let me get to my point on Sterling. The guy was in his house and to the best of my knowledge he owns it and if we are going to go into peoples homes to record and then hold what is said against them then that is not cool to me. If he chooses to be a racist and post it on the jumbo tron at a Clipper game then that is a problem but some gold digger recording him saying these things is not cool and people should be careful. If a black player is caught or recorded at home making derogatory comments about a white person would he be banned from the league? Slippery slope. I don't agree with what he said or how he feels but honestly I don't care enough to see him lose his business. If you think he is the only owner in sports that feels that way you are kidding yourself. I have a unique perspective as well as a mixed individual. I know equally racist or bigoted black people as I do white. I have heard just as many black derogatory comments as I have heard about how white I am. Speaking very honestly more fights over my white mom than being half black. Ok I may open a door on this one.

Who do you think will win the NBA finals and why

I think Lebron has finally emerged so I would say Miami. I think Oklahoma City will come out of the West for another great finals show down.

Favorite KVL and KCAL schools? Which ones do you think have the nicest people/you like seeing succeed the most?

I am not sure I look at any one school like that. I think the relationships I build through my efforts lead to me learning more about kids at a specific school. I think there too is a direct correlation to how much I talk to the coach. I have some coaches I communicate with quite often mostly about players or accomplishments. Doug Key does a marvelous trend setting job as AD at Piper when it comes to communication. Without fail he has his coaches email success stories from each of the sports or programs that he is able to easily compile and send out to parents. I am not saying this is a requirement for AD's but if you want to get the word out about your kids and as an AD I feel that is part of your responsibility then this is a good model. Some AD's look at the job as just running the events and hoping everything goes well instead of understanding the power they have to influence how much they can help students get exposure and thus scholarships. Scholarships are transformative assets. If you don't know what that is then talk to me about it. As a village we should promote everyone as much as possible. There are an incredibly few kids I shake my head at to the point that I don't care about their success. If you take care of business on and off the field then I want to see you succeed.

What do you think about Sion Midgyett

I like Sion. I can tell he puts work in the weight room and has some deceptive speed at the FB position. He showed well at the combine as well and I look for him to help with the load at RB next year for the Sabres.

What do you think about Jamar Grant

Grant is a welcome addition for the Wildcats. Good size and I thought he showed well at the combine. We will have to see how well he can block in the running game which is hard to tell in work outs. We will also have to see if Harrison is going to be more of a threat passing the ball this year or if Washington will be a ground and pound style.

Are their any freshmans you are looking forward to see in basketball next season?

Jamison Jackson (Bonner Springs) and Saadique Perkins (Sumner) we will see if they are able to get varisty time.

Oops! And Emily Brigham of Mill Valley last year. #1 pole vaulter in the history of Kansas.

This is my first year covering Mill Valley so I can't claim her. Awesome accomplishment though.

That is awesome for him. 2nd SHUKC athlete to head to South Dakota in track. Good program up there.

Tristian is a woman. :) who is the other?

What Track athletes have gone D1?

The only one I am thinking of this morning is Tristian Davis who is headed to south Dakota.

What do you think about Javeon Williams

I am a fan of J's. Powerful runner with good vision. The only knock on him will be his speed. He is a good linebacker as well.

How do you think the class of 2014 stacks up to the class of 2013 or past classes from an athletic standpoint ?

The elephant in the room is Khalil Bailey when you compare classes. This year though we have one D1 player in McKinzy. 2011 class we had Vernon Vaughn and Benny Parker. Need not forget Marcus Allen, Murphy twins, Bradon Roark, Adrian Goodlow. JJ Jackson and Stevie Williams are also beats. Overall I still think that was the power class I have covered.

Looking through past posts I see Long was part of the team that won your 3 on 3 tourney. I also heard he was MVP of the all-star game, though it is not listed on your site anywhere. If that's the case, why didn't he make the SHUKC team?

Luke Long is a good player and yes he won the 3 on 3 tourney which has nothing to do with our awards. yes he was mvp of the all star game because he had a good game. The team was guard heavy as it was and it was just our opinion a few others had better numbers overall for the season. the other factor is underclassmen are included for awards. Long is still my guy though.

Bonner is one of the best football teams in the kvl.?

The league overall will take a step back this year especially without Mill Valley. They are starting fresh this year with a lot of production needed. Its not impossible.

What do you think if Piper's WR corps this year?

Jake Jones returns but am hoping to see Emmett Lockridge. Young but the young man has a great frame for a wide out. catches the ball well.

What are you predictions on KCAL football next year? Like pre-ranking?

Washington, Schlagle, Wyandotte, Atchison, Sumner. complete guess.

I am a Lansing fan and I would agree that mill valley is best all around, maybe not in basketball but all around, yes. It's not very debatable, facts are right in front of us all.

Oh. I believe we agree.

Just saying though that Piper is 4A... I think if you're going to say best school in KVL, you should look at KVL play not regional/state things.

I would describe that as a KU line of thinking but it is valid. Mill Valley fan I would assume asking this and your point is well taken. League championships do hold value so if confined to just kvl success then Mill Valley.

Justification on the best school.

Look up the trips to state this year. girls have gone in each sport. football team had a good run as well. regional champs in track as well.

Who do you think is the best all around school in the kvl. All sports included.

This year Piper if you include the girls. Mill Valley is there as well.

Andre Jackson of Turner ?

Would love to get in contact with him. I have a trophy for him for making our All SHUKC underclassmen team. I thought he had a big year for the Bears and a flicker of hope for the basketball team.
