Would you say some of Parra's coaching late in the game tonight was questionable? Like staying a zone while youre down 4th quarter and piper is stalling

He saw it once Piper did that and turned it into a trapping zone. He pressured the ball to try and cause mistakes and they made a run out of the defense. Sumner got tired I thought. They had hands on hips in the 2nd and hands on knees in the 3rd. Piper's depth showed well tonight.

D you think that all coaches should submit players stats to maxpreps to help with exposure ? What could possibly be gained by withholding this information

I think stats should be made public. most are public are readily available but you have to hunt for it. You can get some information about a team based on numbers so I think it is more a competitive thing vs trying to hold a kid back.

I don't know I think they all need to get together or some sort of recognition for signing for sure

I may attempt to make that happen. getting that many teenagers together is a challenge.

Do you think the Atchison win over Washington was an outlier?

No. They held their home court and it will be important for them to keep doing that. Protect your floor and still some on the road which they did at Schlagle.

shouldn't kahlil bailey got better offers than a community college?

When you blow up plays a big role in recruiting skill position players. D1 is still with in his grasp if he goes to Butler and works harder than ever before.

Your true thoughts on hall of famer coach "touchdown" Eddie Brown

I really think highly of coach. he is dedicated to Wyandottte and preparing young men for life after high school.

I honestly like his game. If he is able to cut down on the turn overs he will be nice along with the twins.

Jackson or Schneider?

I was thinking about this last night. Jackson is having a fantastic season and is a big part of why Lansing is still undefeated. Joe is behind in points but has a couple of more rebounds and assists per game and will draw the best defender on every team that they play against. I almost hate that I brought that up because the conversation is interesting but I don't want to generate any distraction from what this team is doing overall. They have an incredible unit with these guys being damn reliable from long range and the free throw line.

Football wise what about piper this up coming season?

Plenty to be optimistic about. We called last year a rebuild and they still went deep in the playoffs. Colton Beebe's senior year will draw a ton of attention to the team especially after all these off season accolades he has received. I know the team is already back in the weight room doing work. Who is the QB???

Do you plan on covering some baseball this spring? Posting stats, players, records etc.

I have started thinking about that. If coaches post them then I am happy to do so on the site. I will be very honest here that the stretch from football to basketball is rough on me especially with the TV stuff going on. I only know one way of doing anything and that is all out and radio and TV is not easy. I wish I could just show up Sundays and do the radio show but there is some prep to make sure the conversations flow. If the coaches do their part then yes I am happy to post and discuss. I will likely make some games too and I am not ruling out broadcasting just yet.

Derek Sykes isnt really being aggressive towards the basketball , Deomontae Sykes isn't really consistent on his rebounding, and Jordan Young has his moments where he's great on Defense and offense but then has those moments where he's MIA . Would you agree?

Spring Hill wore them out Friday night. They looked visibly tired. I think this sums up when coach Parra said during our halftime interview Friday.

What's Sumner's biggest problem right now since they move to a 5-6 record?

The roller coaster of a rebuilding year. They are just in a rut and likely will come back out of it. The thing to watch is how long it takes to come back up and when. If the timing is right and the competition at Substate is down then why not make a run?

Do you think inexperience can hurt a team in the long run?

In one season sure but not over the course of a career. Depends on when you are getting that experience. Playing as a freshman and sophomore and being inexperienced is ok. Being inexperienced as a senior sucks. Having a balance is a good thing.

If you coached what would your scouting report be for the starting 5 of Sumner Academy?

I would hope that Derek Sykes is in a jump shooting mood. I would do everything possible to get him to take those shots. If he hits them then I am living with that but I don't want this team in the lane. Marshall earns a living coming into the lane with the floater as well. I would be physical with the bigs and emphasis boxing out. Deomante Sykes is a worker down there but again good boxing out. Honestly I would adjust as I go based on which Sumner team shows up. Find out who is having an off night and try to force the rock into their hands. This team will come together in time with a solid nucleus of Jordan Young and Derek Sykes.

If you coached what would your scouting report be for the starting 5 of Piper ?

I hate talking strategy. I can't imagine anyone is paying attention to what I am saying anyway. The key against Piper is making them defend for long periods of time. If you play at pace and not make them work then you are in trouble. Multiple sets that make them work off screens and inevitably they will get a bit over aggressive. I would go periods of box and 1 face guarding Luke Long to try not to let him touch the ball. I would also help a lot of defense because outside of Owens they don't share the ball very well. Outside Owens no one averages more than 3 assist and he is right at 3. This team would be special if they shared more.

Theo Bass or Deontae Nunnally? Which would you put in you starting 5

Nunnally would start on many teams in the area. No disrespect to Theo but Nunnally is very good in my opinion.

Biggest key factor to stop washington boys?

I would require Washington to beat me from outside. Your help defense has to be on point against Bennett who I would run at to get the ball out of his hands. He is scoring a ton and I would do everything I can to get him to give the ball up or more importantly make him a jump shooter. He is scoring a ton of points in the paint on drives.
