What do you think about Luke Long!?
Luke is one of my favorite players and not just because of what he does on the court. You are talking about a high character young man. He has impressed me with his generosity as well. just the thought of what he is planning for his senior project speaks to what I am trying to build at shukc. that the players that we follow, cover, broadcast and promote come back and make their contribution to the community. Oh and I think he is a very good basketball player and soccer.
Who will be the show out player in the piper vs. mill valey game!?
I don't believe any one person for Piper is going to be a sure fire leading scorer. I bet they lead the area with individual game scorers in the season. at least five will do it this season. I am calling for a double double for CJ Harper. Clothes I think will have big numbers out of necessity.

Basehor vs piper who wins?
I am going to be pretty consistent with my picks with Piper unless they completely disappoint me. Basehor I would pick second and would not be surprised by a split home and home. Really depends on how well Basehor shoots the ball.
What makes a "state championship team"?
You need one stud that everyone on the team and everyone playing knows is good. So one great and four good. two great and two good in my opinion is good enough. Reece Holliday, Brandon Roark, Colin Murphy, Benny Parker. sometimes one player like Semi Ojeleye is enough but even he took three tries to win with just him. this is the prime difference in winning in basketball. you can win state with four or five good athletes in basketball. football you need fifteen to twenty.
How bad will Basehor beat bishop ward tomorrow?
Ward will be out gunned. the big guy can't play until second semester and I have heard that Cole Henley isn't on the team. I was very high on Henley because of his hard work ethic and hustle. take that off the team and you have trouble. Noah Alexander is a name to watch for Ward. Basehor will eat tomorrow.

Who are some of your favorite athletes you have covered the past few years?
Twins, Benny Parker, Vernon Vaughn, JVeyon Browning, Stevie Williams, JJ and Jordan Jackson. I had a lot of fun covering Bailey. I got excited because I saw it coming. There really are a lot. Roy Clatter was fun.
Who's the best athlete in kansas?
I really couldn't answer that as I don't know many out west. I am sure there is some sick talent in witchita that I don't see. Trevon Evans at Eisenhower comes to mind. depends on how you define an athlete. interesting question.
Thoughts on piper girls basketball team?
This will be an interesting season for coach Stout. he should almost treat this season like he has a very good transfer coming in. this team will have time to establish some second and third options once Wayne gets back. senior leadership is strong as they only lost two players off last years team. no reason this team can't compete for a trip to state.

I am getting a nice collections of favorites with some of the best talent on the city.

I don't believe there is an "official" one. I would guess over the years the lists just gain credibility. Most can't help but be biased.

Who is your pick and why? what does not winning a state title have to do with picking a team this year. There are only a handful of active players right now with a state title and I can say definitively it means nothing this year.
How many area football players have a shot at all state?
These teams are typicaly generated in the west. word is starting to spread but it typically takes a playoff run to get that type of pub. Bailey, Beebe, Dumler. McKinzy should as well.
Who was a better quarterback austin or spencer
I never saw either of them. I hear Spencer could spin it. Wassman actually said on the radio he liked Spencer.

How you think Atchison basketball will look this year? Who are some key players in there system?
Atchison has been the door mat of the KCAL for a few years now. They did get a league win against Wyandotte last year. Huntington and Gill are two players I know about but I am curious to watch them this year.

Piper. To much up front. Not saying they go undefeated but they are my pick.
Who will have to step up the most this year for their team to be good/compete?
Derek Sykes at Sumner. Wyatt Voorhes at Mill Valley. Also Joe Schneider at Lansing. Those seniors from last year will be missed.

Who do you think will average the most points per game this year?
I will go with Wyatt Voorhes as I think as the season wears on he will be asked to do more and more. Chase Younger will be up there but he along with players like Luke Long have so many weapons. I want to see Deonta Nunnally up there as well.

minus mill valley I think piper will have a lot back but a new qb who will have little to no varsity experience. tongie is a complete reboot. basehor may have a shot. tough to call right now.

yes we named lineman to our team on offense and defense. they are noted on the post naming the team.
