Who would you consider the best player in KCAL & KVL in basketball and football ?

For offense in football we named Dimonic McKinzy our POY and Colton Beebe our defensive POY. If I picked an offensive players in KVL it would have been Khalil Bailey. Defense in KCAL Rodney McNeal. Basketball we will see. We will declare our POY at the end of the season.

I would add people like Mark Haynes (Harmon) NFL, Larry Drew (Wyandotte) NBA, Neil Allen (Ward) MLB could have played QB in NFL, all graduated in 1976 that could be our list of KCK Best Athletes. Your list was great too. You go back into the 60's and you have other athletes that played in the pros.

Stuckey's (multiple as Darryl's sister was a great one), Chris Weems, Willie Vaughn, Vernon Vaughn, Benny Parker, Maurice Green. There are many.

Do you think the Mcgee twins from Bonner can be as goods as the Murphy twins were from Basehor?

No for a couple of reasons. The Murphy twins at this time were a lot bigger and had already been a part of a state title. That is my first impression and I don't know who these guys play with over the summer, are they training and eating right to put on some good weight. It really isn't fair to compare them so soon in their career.

How do you think the matchup between Atchison and Sumner will go this friday ?

I have been informed that Atchison hasn't beaten Sumner in an incredibly long time. the mental aspect of it I am sure plays a role but that is the beauty of youth for Atchison. Gill and Luster won't know much about that. A sophomore party Friday at Sumner.

Why have you underrated Washington high all this year and who you think the standouts are this season?(basketball)

Jeremee Bennett appears to be the leader on the squad. I wouldn't say under rated as I haven't really seen them yet. I do know that they lost a lot of weapons last year including the SHUKC POY Deandre King. Allen, Jappa, Trevillion is a lot to replace.

What plays have made your highlight reel so far this year?

I am watching the dunk collection from Lansing so far. Luke Longs game winner was awesome. What got lost is the pin off the back board he got as well. Bailey, Gibson also but I am a bit shocked by Schneiders rise. I am going to start posting some highlights. Logan Koch's performance in our game was very good as well.

Would you be a fan of trading Cain and/or Butler?

I would have gotten rid of Butler long ago. Slow DH's that aren't hitting 25-30 HR's a year is pointless to me. The problem is you wouldn't get anything for him. Cain I don't know I would want to wait a bit longer.

What do you think about the Royals trading Lough for Valencia?

I am not opposed to it. If Mustakas comes out the gate slow again you have someone you can put over there. Lough had a good year but he is not going to take the Royals where they want to go. They got a second basemen and right fielder and a starter to replace Santana. It is time for one of these farm system pitchers to really take a step forward. Duffy needs to take that next step or this window will close fast.

Do you think it will be a shoot out between the Atchison Redmen and Washington? Or do you think it will be a blow out?

As good as Atchison has played you still have to keep in mind they are young. Washington while a lot of turnover still has some experience from good teams in the past. I just don't know how Gill and Luster are going to hold up. Washington has a very good big man as well which will be a challenge. We will see. I have my eye on this one.

How do you see atchison doing in football next season?

I am always tempered in expectations when you are replacing a starter who has played so much. I don't know who fills Huntington's shoes. Wykeen Gill and there will be a few sophomore's on this team that may be able to step up. Munsen and Grippin are a couple of others that I believe will be back.

I think I was asleep by the time it was midnight. I really don't see the point of that being a holiday. If you are waiting for a new year to make the changes you need to in your life then you have bigger issues. Each day should be treated like a new year.

Hayden may be the only real threat. I can't imagine that Ottawa will have much of anything this year. Coach McBride talked about the field. I need to decide what tournament I want to go broadcast at that week.

Predictions on Washington next football season

I have very high expectations. I would like to see them get into the playoffs. Can they rally the troops over the summer. They will have three good senior leaders in Javeon Williams, Kalem Harrison and Steve Peoples but are they leaders off the field. Are they going to recruit the hallways and find some more talent to go along with them. Not just during the season but to come out and work over the summer as well. Washington players should be regulars at our sessions as well as the combine we are hosting.
