What do you think of Lansing's Joe Lendway turning into a double-double machine? He has to be among the best bigs in the area, don't you think?

Yah he has really found his way. the most important thing for bogs like him is a willingness from team mates to feed him. He is really playing well right now. as if Lansing needed another weapon.

What did you think of the games last night and did any players stand out to you?

I was proud of the energy from Tongie in the first half. thought jack dale played one of the best halves I have seen. piper vs Atchison went exactly as I expected.

Austin Downing vs Wykeen Gill??

In a game of one on one I would say Downing. Gill is a true point guard who distributes. not sure I see him as a break down off the dribble guy. downing may have a few lbs on him. both are good young players.

I think people get the Piper biased thought from the sponsors on your webpage and how much you talk about them. I don't mean that in a negative light but you can understand why someone would think that.

If I were to track supports of shukc in terms of sponsorhip then run away winners would be Piper and I am grateful for all those that back us financially. I wish and hope we get support like that from all the schools. I however try not to lend bias their way. I road with Tongie for football for example. I do not knock anyone for not getting involved financially and nor do I show bias toward a school for lack of sponsorship.

Who do you think will win Saturday, piper or basehor? And who would you like to see win?

I will answer the second question first. I may reconsider making picks in the future before the season. I think a lot of people took me picking Piper as a means to say I cheer for them. I try to view each of the 14 schools subjectively. I got no less excited in that double OT game for Luke Long's three to send it to OT as I was when McPherson hit the game winning shot. I can't lose in this substate in my mind because I am behind any of the 4 schools involved. Lets get to Piper vs Basehor before we talk about a prediction out of respect to Tonganoxie and Atchison.

who will make a big impact in football next season in KCAL

Gill, Williams, Cobbins, Harrison, Moore, Wilson, Ford, Randle, Ruff. there are many.

Any opinion on a early signing period for football players like they have for other sports in NCAA? Personally I am a huge fan of the idea. I cant see how this would be nothing but good for both players, and the schools. I think a late summer/early fall signing date would be perfect.

I am focused on seeing players having offers on the table rather than when they sign. If they have offers and feel strongly to sign I say go for it. I would support it.

Thoughts on Terrance Maddox. I know this is non sports related but WYCO related

I honestly have not gotten too deep into the political scene. I have attended a few chamber meetings where I have met some of the civil leadership but again I don't have a desire to get involved in that. I read an article but do not have facts. I will say that any abuse of power is unfortunate. This answer sounds like a politician.

Will you be as dispointed as me If we don't get a Basehor vs Piper round 3.

I am at a point right now in my thinking about both games that I will be jaw dropped tonight if either lose. I won't say disappointed because Atchison and Tonganoxie are my schools as well.

Who is gonna be the girls Player of the year?

There would not be much drama for the award if I answered that. I need to name candiates first.

I agree there is a huge difference between the JV and varsity level of play. What you seem to be forgetting is that many of those top programs, loaded with seniors (including Piper, Basehor and Lansing) have JV or varsity bench players who would most likely start and excel at most area high schools

One way to look at it.

what are you think about ward team about their players they are pretty good during those last games?

I didn't see the games to know. tough one tomorrow against Eudora.

hey can you pls add me on skype? I want to ask you something. My skype is kate.phillips93

I don't use Skype. Odd request.

Obviously some basehor parents need to take their rose colored glasses off an undefeated jv season does not always translate to winning at the varsity level a couple of the "jv" players sit on varsity bench and look completely lost when they come in

It is an opinion just like my initial statement was. I almost got the impression it was a coach not a parent.

Do u think Basehor has a chance to beat piper again on Saturday?

They have done it twice already. it is hard they say to beat a team three times. I am intrigued to see if both coaches stand pat and play or make adjustments.

There is a big difference between playing JV and playing varsity no matter how deep a program is and you have to recognize that. Just out of curiosity, what makes reporters for The Star or 810 varsity any more qualified to write about BB when they haven't seen all city teams play. Granted they are s

I think the jump from JV to varisity is a big one. Yes they can play but if they were that good it would be my opinion they would he playing varisity. Its fair I don't watch JV but I would guess there are few that will say how a JV performance can or will translate at the varsity level. I see the underclassmen making a contribution right now. The point the coach, player or parent is making is a valid arguememt to my point so I won't throw that big of a stone.

To finish my statement, really good programs start their building very young so that when the seniors step off the floor, there are others waiting in the wings, that's called reloading, which is exactly what I would expect an undefeated JV team to do next year...one comprised of almost all sophomore

Fair enough and your point is well noted. I am sure I will he wrong at some point. :)

With all due respect, you have a full time job and covering high school basketball in depth isn't it. Due to that fact, there is no way you are in any position to declare a team in rebuilding mode or not. And to address your statement about knowing if there were worthy underclassmen out there, you

Your comments are not offensive to me at all. Any comment I make about a team, player or game is just that a comment of my opinion. You obviously disagree with what I am saying and that is ok. I will buy you dinner if I am wrong. I love none of the teams a bit less and look forward to following and supporting each of the Jew faces we see at the varisity level. I however don't find it necessary to say they are going to just roll out and findbthe success the seniors from this year accomplished. I guess a good sample of your arguement is Washington.

Not diminishing the value of varsity experience at all. I get that, but condemning a program more than a year in advance when again you have no clue on the make up of or depth of the program or the kids that you claim to want to promote just doesn't make sense. Just because you have a mic in your

Saying a team is going to take a step back doesn't mean I won't be there to promote. kcal all took a step back this year and I talk about all then just as much. someone could surprise I guess but not thinking they take a step back is not being honest. if there was a underclassman with that status then again I would be seeing them now.

Lansing, Basehor and Piper come crashing back down to Earth next Year? I'll say there are a lot of talented kids in those programs that may or may not step up. It's really a long ways off, so why don't you just be honest and say you don't have a clue about them as you don't attend JV and Freshmen.

No I do not attend JV and freshman games. A team starting five talented seniors one going to play division one and another that had a historic season at receiver. Another senior that has played pg for what will be back to back seasons for state teams is going to get replaced by jv players and not skip a beat. Piper who has nine seniors will easily replace two and three year starters and keep it going. Basehor will have Muldoon but lose two starters from a state championship team. one of the most prolific scorers in the area and will easily be replaced I am sure. If the JV players were that good they would be playing now and contributing. I think you ate diminishing the value of varsity experience. No shame in rebuilding.

To say Lansing has the easiest road to state is so ignorant , those boys have played there butts off against some of the best competition around. KVL one of the best leagues in Kansas don't ya think?Btw those Lansing boys have been playing together since they were younger that's why they are so good

Playing with each other that long makes a big difference. I think he just meant the two games they need to win to get to state Emporia and Mill Valley. That is a nice path to Topeka but one they earned.

Dont you think Mill Valley should be performing at a higher level each year in basketball? As the amount of talent they have, or at least would have.

Throw this year out. Losing Pat to transfer and then Wyatt doesn't equal success in a season. yes there should be enough kids at Mill Valley to put together a decent team. Like I answered the other questions its not like football where you pick the biggest and fastest kids and have them line up and go. Basketball you need talent that can work together. Last years team was good they just ran into a buzzsaw in Lansing. Lansing not to go too far into the future is coming back to earth next year along with Basehor and Piper so maybe next year is their time.
