Thoughts on Kilil Richard from Piper?
Break out year possible for this young man. I really hope that he has put the work in over this summer to take that step forward. I will always remember Richard because he kept making play after play and we didn't have his name and number on the program. He has a motor and if he develops has a load of potential. Keep an eye on him in 2013-2014.
How does bonners defense look to you?
Up front it looks real good with Joshua Adams and Kyle Dumler. I may get a look at one of the linebackers tonight. The secondary will have Hoffine and Kubas patrolling around. If you dominate up front you have a good chance of doing good things on defense.

Thoughts on basehor Linwood football?
We will have to wait and see what Tim Sanders can get done at QB for the Bobcats. Jahron McPherson will look to take a step forward with key weapons graduating in 2013. I won't say rebuild as they have some good talent returning but we will have to see who steps up and shoulders the offensive work load.
What did you think of Matt McDonald
It is unfortunate he got hurt toward the end of the season. A healthy McDonald would have given Piper a better shot against Eudora. He had one of the best 4 or 5 game stretches I have seen and played a big role in Piper's success last season. A hell of a one on one defender in basketball as he didn't get enough credit last year for that. He is a worker so I wouldn't be shocked to see him on a roster this fall.
Most overlooked player from each team in the KVL?
That would take a while but I will name a couple. Cory McCleary from Basehor and Shane Levy from Tonganoxie. McCleary led the bobcats in tackles yet I snubbed him on the SHUKC defensive team. Levy had almost 1000 yards last year. Not enough said about these two young men.
What do/did you think about calvin johnson from Piper?
I remember the first time I saw Johnson play the opening game against Bonner in 2011. I was very impressed with his game and think he played a key role for the substate champion Pirates in 2012-2013. The only evolution to his game would be to think assist first and let his scoring a bit more freely. I think he is a skilled enough point guard to average 6 or 7 assists per game at Butler.
What do you think of mike carson
I really enjoyed covering Carson. He has a very live personality and I will long remember his performance at the state tournament in 2012. It was a catch 22 with Carson because he got under the skin of many players he played against. That sometimes motivated his opponents specifically against Wyandotte. He was a handful for anyone he went up against. I will be keeping an eye on his at the next level. I wish him nothing but the best.
Who do you see playing at the next level out of the KCAL & KVL after this football season?
There will be a ton of players that sign with JUCO's I am starting to get a little down on this process because I need to see the young men land on the roster. I don't want to see the percentage of players that sign and then are home in the fall. McKinzy, Berry, Jackson, Dumler, Gibbs, McNeal, Hunter, Ford, Eikenbary, Housh, Holloway are just a few that will play in college some where. I also think they will have the dedication to stay and play.
Who will win league in baseball for KVL?
Mill Valley until someone proves otherwise.
What do you think of roy Clayter from Lansing
The most explosive dunker I have seen in the area the first few years covering sports in KCK. I think we learned a great deal about him during the state tournament. Had to play big which hopefully he won't have to do at the next level. I really enjoyed watching him play.
Who had the best individual baseball season last year? Although Tanner Garver Seagar Smith and Luis Gardwas all had great season's on bad teams. Stats are on maxpreps.
Stats are incomplete but Gardea had the best season. Would guess he led off and also played well in the field. 26 stolen bases and willing to take walks is always a plus for me. The lost stat which you would take forever which would separate these 3 is total bases. Gardea turned 26 singles or walks into doubles. Speed is grossly underestimated although he slugged .636.
who was the most interesting point guard last season that you covered?
Jajuan Taylor will be a player I will not soon forget. Very skilled ball handler with good speed and ability to finish

What happened to the kckpreps website?
The site belongs to nick Sloan who was ready to move on and do other things. Www.shukc.com does the exact same thing as what we were doing at kckpreps. We are continuing to expand with broadcasts, workouts and all star games.
There's some incoming sophomores who are excellent now. They have a great shot at doing great at state next year!

Trevon Jones is going to surprise you during the season
I already think he will do well. It would take 1000 yards and 10 tds to surprise me.
What do you do for a day job?
I am an IT manager at Sprint. I support Vm ware, Aix and sun farms. The servers we support run the business. I got my degree from kstate in computer science. I have an awesome team of 17 that helps me look real good.
Best running back kvl and kcal?
Kcal I have said Javeon Williams. High on Antonio Moore austin housh, Brian cobbins. Kvl is an interesting question. No Matt McDonald, Kendall Short, drew potter. Jared knernshield if he is back with his knee. Piper will be by committee although I think Beebe could be a beast but unrealistic to have him play that much. Cole Holloway will look to improve on last year. He would be my choice.
What do you think of Tyson downing
Very explosive player. I was impressed with him as a player and a respectful young man. I was happy to get him on the all star team. Hit me up where he landed.

Are you going to watch track this year??
I didn't attend a single event last year. I will plan to improve this year. I heard a lot about piper just because the ad does such a good job sending me results. In short I will try.
What do you think about Washingtons football program?
Bryan Salsgiver has an infectious attitude and puts the time in. I got to speak to him today and really think he will build a winner. Young core to work with. I predict a league title in 2014.
What is your outlook on atchison highs football team?
I am optimistic with what they have coming back. They will have some key players off a playoff team in 2012. I don't think they win league but have a good chance to go to the playoffs again.
Best baseball player in KVL?
I won't muster a guess. I am not sure what is coming back this year. Silly numbers put up in baseball.
