Do you think the center position is dead in basketball because it seems like kids are number 1 center in the country and they are just 6-9 forwards.i just feel like teams aren't drafting big strong posting centers anymore.

I would blame AAU basketball for this. Playing with your back to the basket is not sexy any more to the point that kids that are 7-0 don't even play. I have noticed that you just don't see Greg Oden's, Patrick Ewing sized players anymore. To the AAU point in that they aren't developed to play down low. Dwight Howard is one of the top centers in the league and he is horrible with his back to the basket compared to players like Ewing and Olajuwan. Center position is dead because it is failed to be developed. Its a shame but I bet it makes a comeback at some point. the 6'10 PG's are in style right now who can't bench 135 pounds.

Xavier Tucker?

I am watching closer this year I will say on Tucker. I saw his highlight and the skills are there. We will see if the work put in over the summer will pay off. I know he was active in trying to get better. He will need to play big if Ward is going to compete this year. He should see a lot of single coverage with the athletes they have on the field.

What do you predict the Chiefs record will be?

9-7. I haven't gone game by game but there is a lot of talent on the squad. I am done with the 49er QB retreads we have gotten over the years. Deberg, Montana, Bono, Grbac and now Smith. Receivers are a big weakness but I am high on what they can do on defense.

What are your thoughts on Bonner Springs Tailback Jared Knernschield? Looking past the fact he's coming back from injury, how do you think he will fair this season?

I was very high on him last year and am this year. I never really got synced up with him to see him work out. I don't know what camps he hit or if he was even able to after the injury. Hard to tell what type of work was put in to get back at it. I hear there is another RB making some noise so it may help to have a partner in crime. This helps Jackson as well not having to run as much.

Do you think Ned Yost should be fired before next season?

I don't think you can fire him. He makes some questionable calls but you can't argue with what they have done this year. The expectation going in was .500 and they are playing better than .500 and would have to collapse not to be over. You don't fire a manager when you have spent the last decade being the doormat of the league after going over .500. His insistence in playing Chris Getz is one of the most mind boggling things I have seen in team sports. Second only to KU's insistence in playing Elijah Johnson at PG. He gets another couple of years. Don't be shocked when they move Hoche back into the starting rotation.

Do you think speed is the name of the game now.?

It certainly doesn't hurt. Depends really on the position you play. Technique can certainly make up for a lot of things in high school. Speed and agility.

Piper plays Turner tomorrow in soccer at piper 6 pm

I wouldn't be able to make it. My son has flag football at 6:00 PM tomorrow. 2 kids along with what I do with SHUKC is hard to juggle. I recommend a video camera. I will be happy to watch and even do some highlights if film is provided.

Do you cover soccer at all?

No I haven't done that yet despite numerous requests. I think with the TV broadcast and radio show planning that could prove to be even more difficult. When are the games? Are stats updated anywhere? I would love to have someone that is interested in soccer to come write for SHUKC. I will give you a forum.

Austin Housh

All SHUKC RB possibilities for Housh. Enough noise and he could be a player to get enough touches to be considered for our player of the year award. Short young man but a very solid frame. I know college coaches like that low center of gravity RB that can make moves. Big year coming up for him.

Think anyone will surprise you this year at Basehor or anyone looking forward to see play? Heard anything from anyone about certain players

I saw Tim Sanders, Jahron McPherson and Broc Lindsay at the Bonner scrimmage. They have some players guys my only point has been the amount of production lost. Mill Valley is in the same boat. Sure other kids can step in but they don't have the experience and until they perform you can't predict what they will do. I certainly won't expect Lindsay and McPherson to come out and crush like Ben Johnson for example but they can still be nice pieces to get some dubs.

Josh Adams

Looking forward to see him not just in football but basketball. Good size and work ethic and most importantly young enough to develop for a few years. Huge advantage getting coached up by Steve Cline. High upside on him. I can't wait to see how he does Friday night.

Brenden dotson?

I am looking forward to watching Brenden this year. I got to play with against him a few times and got crossed over a number of times. Confidence is his biggest thing. Does he think he is good enough to have a big season. Could be a solution for Bonner at PG.

But what if Ward beats basehor can they recover? And still play well vs piper

No. If Basehor losses to Ward I think that will be an early death blow. I don't think that will happen though. Basehor has a mental thing going on.

I heard that Freese isn't starting on Friday due to Dooley being a senior. Do you think Jonah will live up to his expectations and do you think he should start?

That's interesting. I think I say Kubas in at receiver. I don't know who would be on the other side. I would have expected to see those two line up opposite. Interesting. I won't speak to if he should start or not. I am not watching practice. I know the coaching staff there wouldn't sit him because Dooley is a senior. This is the same coach that benched a senior QB for a sophomore. Something else is there.

Any stats on Ross hogan last year?

Senior from Atchison? I hadn't check his numbers from last year. I know he had a good season. I watched a lot of Atchison film.

What will it take for Basehor to make a statement that they arent the bad team everyone thinks they are? Will a win at Piper speak volume?

I think the best thing for the Basehor players and team is to not care what I or anyone else thinks and just play ball. I think a win at Piper a game that will be broadcast on This TV next weekend at 3:00 PM would be a huge statement for the Bobcats. Thanks for the plug. Good lead in for next week!!

Hahn plays baseball at Basehor I believe

Ahh. I do plan to follow baseball this year and I am kicking around an idea of an All Star game.

Any KVL guys you wish you had the chance to cover but never did?

Jasper Sanders from Piper. I have heard some stories about that young man.

Jake hahn

Name isn't ringing a bell although I want to say Bonner. I don't know the name. My guess is a DB at Bonner? Am I right?
