What's your thoughts on CJ Harper for next year?

CJ should be the best big in the KVL this year. He has a great frame and has enough athletic ability to play over the rim. The knock on Harper would be his ball handling and decision making in the post. If he gets it on the way to the rim he is a train which will be hard to stop. All a matter of continued development between now and the start of the season. Harper should be a walking double double this year and if he can toss in 3-4 assists then he could have a very high ceiling. The points and rebounds will be there. I am watching his assists and turnovers in 2013.

You get 5 basketball players combined from KCAL and KVL to make an Allstar starting 5. Who are they?

I am not sure I am taking anyone from the KCAL this year. It would also depend on if I am playing 1 game or building for the future. Many ways to answer this. Nunnally, Schneider, Younger, Bailey, Harper. Before you pick a team I win.

How many interceptions do you predict atchisons Tanner Huntington to produce?

I got told yesterday he doesn't play defense. Pretty sure I saw him pick off mckinzy. 4.

Who do you think ward can beat this year in football, or have close games against? Who gets player of the game? And what's the score?

Sumner Academy, Bryan Barnhart, 21-20.

Whose the strongest people in the leagues?

Strongest is an interesting term because weight matters. Sterling Owens won the power lifting competition last year at Basehor so he obviously has a lot of overall strength. I think Bonner probably has some people putting up some silly numbers. I recently spoke with Austin Housh at Atchison and he has some pretty impressive numbers for his size. I don't hear much on this.

Biggest threats for Piper football

Tonganoxie and Bonner can beat them. Mill Valley will be a challenge as well.

What do you bench?

I am weak. I just started working my way back up. I am working at 225 right now. My max a few months ago was 260.

What colleges do the best job recruiting KCK?

That is a weird question. Colleges don't recruit areas they recruit talent. What happens in KCK is that the talent doesn't have exposure to get the attention of the colleges. JUCO's right now are gorging themselves in KCK taking advantage of talent getting missed and students who can't meet the requirements for a 4 year school. If you want to go to a college your book work better be in order. It really depends on a teams need and not so much a school targeting a specific area.

Is maxpreps accurate with their stats?

Only as accurate as the staff is in entering it. It is my dream tthat all coaches get the stats input there weekly.

What is the best game you have covered?

Piper vs Bonner football. Schlagle vs Washington basketball at Washington is a silly good atmosphere to be in.

McPherson isn't playing football he has quit now what do you think

A little early to focus on one sport. I will explore this and talk to his dad.

Who do you think will be Piper's biggest threat this year?

Threat is a bit vague. Travon Jones and STERLING Owens may be the home run hitters. Beebe will command more touches but will that affect him on defense. A dilema when perhaps your best weapon on both sides of the ball are the same person.

What's your prediction for the BL and MV basketball games this season?

Swapping Muldoon to me gives BL the edge this year. I don't know what bigs MV will have around Voorhes yet.

How much of a threat are atchisons wide receivers between. Smith, gassman, housh, Harris, and enzbrenner

Atchison has some speed and weapons. I am not sure yet if Enzbrenner will be playing varsity this season. I don't know Smith and Harris. Gassman is more of a slot guy but if Enzbrenner is that good to play varsity then that will at least give them some height outside. Huntington likes to throw it up. Housh I understand will be more in the backfield.

What makes Ben Johnson and Drew Potter D1 football players?

You don't coach size. Johnson is a legit 6'4 6'5 and probably in the 220 - 225 range. Potter is a freak size wise as well at 6'3 235 (I am guessing). Both have done an incredible amount of work in to dominate at this level. Potter specifically jumps at opportunities to come work. Size plus desire and skill = D1.

who do you think will be Sumner Academy's quarterback this year?

I only know of Ben Miller who came out with us a few times. I would guess it will be a competition at Sumner. He was the backup last year and has a good arm.

Predictions on BLHS football.

Any time you are starting a new QB there will be a lot of questions. What Basehor has going for them however is that that new starter is a senior. Tim Sanders threw a good ball but we will have to see how he handles the pressures of playing under the lights. You have good leadership on defense with Phillips and McCleary. I don't expect a lot but there could be some surprises if players like Jahron McPherson becomes a weapon.

What do you think about Buhler coming into the 2014 season?

Sorry but I don't know much. I believe I spoke with a couple of prospects from that school. I am focused in the kcal and kvl.
