Mill valley will blow out lansing they just need to designate their best defesive back to kalil bailey and thats a dagger in the heart

You think that now and so have many teams. I don't know if Abbott is going or not but they will eat you alive if you just try and double Bailey. Great scheme bringing players in motion and then forcing a LB to cover porter and McQuillan. This is why I wanted to do the game to see this matchup. Hopefully we get a Jegen vs Bailey match up or two.

What will atchison be next season?

I would guess a rebuild. You will have Bennie Smith and Wykeem Gill to build around but you will be looking to fill some major holes.

Do you think bonners gonna pull this win off and make it to the playoffs? I mean every team has it's crappy games ya know.

I would venture to say that Bonner has had 2 crappy games. They should have smashed Desoto but have slept walk for 7 of the last 8 quarters. Mason has been very quiet. So I don't know what is going on right now. This looks like the team that hit a wall last year. DO NOT LET THEM HAPPEN!!! Yes I think they can do it if they go out from the opening whistle and leave it out there. Exhaust yourself!! There is no tomorrow.

Thoughts on josh munsen Atchison?

I just spoke with Josh on twitter. I think out of position at LB. His future is definitely in the secondary. He needs to keep doing work and be a leader on defense for Atchison next season.

How do you think Lansing basketball will do this year?

It will be interesting to see how the younger players step up. You have your givens with Gibson and Schneider. Bailey obviously becomes a starter. I can't think of the big guy that played a bit against Basehor in the game we broadcast but it will be a different look from Lansing. Schneider will not have senior leaders to lean on. He will have to take a step forward if that is even possible. He should average 19-21 a game from the 2 guard position.

So Guys like Barnhart and Diaz would be ruled out based on their teams overall lack of defense?

I wouldn't go that far. Barnhart did actually show up on one of the prelimanary lists for defensive POY. it however is a factor in how much their performance impacts the entire team.

Alex Diaz from Lansing is one of the top tacklers in the KVL.

yes he is on my list of top tacklers I pulled last week. I mentioned that on the broadcast as well. Lansings defense overall though has not been great. he has had a good season.

Candidates for Defensive player of the year???

I am not final yet but. Dumlrr, Beebe, Rounds, Phillips, Grizzle, Peoples. Some talk about Barnhart. if you have someone that we should be looking at speak up. I am still evaluating which Schlagle defender to consider. Bruce or Phillip.

Who was number 15 for schlagle? & did he break a record?

Mike Davis is a senior at Schlagle. We were discussing if his 5 TD's were possibly a school record but certainly not a state record of any kind. He finished with like 263 yards and easily the best game of the year by Schlagle on offense.

What KCAL players stood out to u this year

Steven Peoples, Javeon Williams, Dimonic McKinzy, Antonio Moore, Jeffrice Wilson, Steve Ford, Shawn Rainey, Brian Cobbins, Tanner Huntington, Wade Gassman, Joshua Bruce, Marvell Wheeler, Cornileus Ruff, Phillips, Dedric Bradley did the best he could as well at Harmon.

How do you think the Sumner's basketball team will do this year?

When you lose so much it is hard to imagine hitting the ground running. Sykes is the main player coming back and he will need to be the leader of this squad as just a Sophomore. Young will need to take a step forward as well. My expectations will be low but if this young team gells perhaps they can surprise some people.

Any other kids in your coverage area deserve any talk for any of those awards?

Those awards are for something ridiculous and right now Bailey is the only person I would put in that category. To illustrate this a bit more I am actually tracking stats through week 8 which I do each year to help with our award selections. Bailey is 10 TD's and 500 yards clear of the next receiver in our area. Sirr Green will with a lot more catches quietly have a sick season at receiver with 810 yards. But that doesn't even register against 1321 and 16 TD's. I have only done this one other time and that was with Benny Parker at Sumner Academy for the Dirhinna Award. So that is the long answer. Short answer is no but that doesn't mean I don't think others aren't have good seasons.

I know you support Bailey for the Otis Taylor award, but who votes on those, Taylor, simone, Buchanan, bel, etc.?

I got a few names. Some of the guys on 610 radio are on the panel. I am sending them Bailey's film each week to make sure he is not overlooked. He needs a big game this week.

Things that stuck out in the last Ward game?

Coaching. The offense looks to use that spread option and they were very quick to adjust to the 2 tight end sets. Cole Henley shocked me with that performance. I would see flashes but he is breaking tackles and showed a ton of heart Friday night. They got in Atchison's head as things got chippy. They should approach Friday as a must win as well. Starring at a rematch with Tonganoxie or Basehor if they don't beat them but maybe they relish that opportunity now.

When is the ceremony?

Right now I am targeting December 14. That will be after the playoffs and allow for some planning. The early discussions would be to try and have it on a Saturday evening instead of an early morning. make it a formal event that we will air online. Still preliminary but we may have a $5 dollar entry after party to celebrate the 2013 football season.

You havnt mentioned basehor football as much this year. Anyone grabbing your eye?

I like Chaney and Phillips. Dalton Inlow has been impressive to me as an all around player. He has done good on both sides of the ball. McPherson's move to RB was good and it appeared to spark the offense. I do need to get someone on the show. Get that dub this week and we can make that happen.

Can Mill Valley pitch another shut out against Lansing?

Mill Valley has not faced a passing offense yet this season. It will be an interesting matchup to see if they can defend in the secondary. I am hoping to see Jegen and Bailey matchup a couple of times. Abbott will be key. Banks threw the ball ok but looks to be more of a runner. SHUKC will be there to broadcast the game that will air on Saturday so I am hoping to see a good matchup.

Javeon Williams this past Friday

I thought Javeon ran hard. There were a couple of spots that he pressed the edge vs stepping and going up field. I only base this off my reaction. Having watched the film I would still say that. The numbers look good but the out come was not.

How was the tournament today and any surprises?

I thought it went great. I am always humbled by the turnout. For my part I give myself a B. We went from 9-12 and I hope everyone had a good time. These events are important to keep shukc going. Basketball is my favorite game so I really hope we get the support to get the broadcast on tv. I thought there were some very good teams. I will admit that I was surprised Luke, Vince, and Darius won. I think Vince Eskina is going to be a handful. best front line in the city.

I witnessed theWard win I watched teir deffense as well how did Wooten do deffensively along with 41 Wilson, are either one of them KVL definsive team picks?

Great win for Ward but I would be shocked to see anyone outside Barnhart at safety get league recogition. Wooten and 41 played well. they locked up summers running game. but with dumler, Chaney and a host of other lb's I don't know that they make it. congrats to ward.

How do you think Atchison's defense played tonight?

I just watched the game and thought they did ok. Piper is content with this ground and pound style offense and they have 3 players and perhaps 4 with Eikenbary that can move it. Atchison at least in the first half could not get off the field often enough and dug another whole that despite a strong effort was not able to dig out of. Once again the defense locked down in the second half. It takes 4 quarters and spending the first half of games getting warmed up to compete in the second is not going to work. Atchison has a shot still to get to the playoffs. They need to figure out how to come out with that intensity they had second half for the whole game. I dare you to come out and play a whole game like you did second half.
