Keys to bonner success

I won't go with the givens here. I think the supporting cast will need to be more prevelant. Jonah Freese and Travis Dooley at wide receiver. The other one which can really be the key to success if Jared Knernshield. Les Wessel will anchor the O-Line which will have to step up with Kyle Dumler focusing on defense.

So as the season approches, I'm getting nervous that expectations for Piper are too high after losing 15 Seniors. Do they have the leaders, and will they compete against other more experienced league competition?

That is the dilema for coach Brindle. It is not fair to expect semi finals of ther state tournament. They did lose a lot. This team will get into the post season with Eikenbary, Beebe, Ortiz, Jones, Saunders, Owens who all have experience. Khalil Richards will be a leader as well.

If Ward does get a W Or 2 who can they beat?

I won't say anyone but on a special night they could. Sumner is the one game I have circled. Any games in league will be tough although basehor better be inn their toes.

Who are your top 5 picks for the DL from the KVL

I have to be very honest that I don't see DL until we get going. I know a couple I have worked highlights for and know but ask me this 3 games in once I start watching some film. I won't beat a dead horse with players I have mentioned before. Am curious to see Phillips with his hand down playing Ben Johnson's position. Ask me this later in the season.

Player to watch ? From any class graduated or not

At the college level I am watching out for any SHUKC players. Matt McDonald had a big run this weekend. Keaton Cofield and Steve WIlliams are at Butler playing. Drew Potter will be on the field at South Dakota. J'Veyon Browning will hopefully get some carries this weekend at Northern Iowa. Paul Berry, Dimonic McKinzy, Jordan Jackson, Tanner Eikenbary, Khalil Bailey, Colton Beebe, Kyle Dumler, Antonio Moore, Javeon Williams are just a few of the players to keep an eye on in town. There are many more.

What do you think about Bonner springs boy basketball team?

I am intrigued as last year was ugly. We will have some young faces to watch in Dotson, Adams, Freese but led by Jordan Jackson. If he has to play PG they are in trouble. You have to hope dotson can.

Oi you had to choose between the four girls who would you pick?

If Wayne is healthy I would pick her first. Jackson and Wayne are d1 caliber if they keep working.

Haley doesn't play defense for Atchison? At least not often

He has a motor. He is also a worker so he could go both ways.

Wood is a middle linebacker such as Harris and Haley should be a force also, but he still has a bit to prove

Austin Bennett thinks Haley is all league his sophomore year. I can see it as well.

Wood joins Harris in at middle linebacker. Both strong physical players. Harris is an extremely hard hitter and Wood is also pretty good. We are expecting Harris to have a hundred plus season! Both phenomenal athletes.

I really like what atchison had to say. I really can't wait for that game with Washington. They have a lot co.ingback. tell me about wood. What position does he play. Believe the Harris kid is a linebacker.

What female basketball players in Kaw Valley do you expect a lot from this coming season?

I don't think Jessica Wayne will be back by then. Prayers to her on her knee recovery. Oropeza at ward. Tori Webb and Haley White at Piper. I think Julianne Jackson takes a big step forward.

Best song to walk onto the field?

If I was a player I would have about thirty minutes of music I would listen to. Heart of a champion by nelly would be top of the list. It would be my can't quit playlist.

Do you think Basehor will win any games?

They will win some games. I have said I think they will struggle not go winless.

Do you think Coach Hopkins from Basehor Linwood is an idiot? I do. He should be fired in my opinion and I do not even attend the school

If you listened to him yesterday and came to the conclusion that he is an idiot then you need a self assessment of your own intelligence. His program is 80+ at a 4a school and he has a great personality. Your job would soon be lost if you made the decision to fire a coach like Hopkins.

Do you buy what the Washington coach is selling? Seams fake as hell

Coach has not given me a single reason to question him. Ask Lloyd Standfield his thoughts. I know it is tough to not be skeptical but you can't fake passion. I buy!

Why do you say Phillips and salsgiver had the best media day?

The key to interviews is to be engaging. Just perception. I could just tell that Phillips was taking it very serious and said some good things. Specifically his comment about doing what the team needs versus what is best for him individually. This is not to say anyone else was bad just that these two stuck out in my opinion. Salsgiver more because he covered a couple of my questions I had written down for him. Not good when you are learning how to ask open ended questions for people to run with.

Talking to Washington's players who do you think is goin to make thebbiggest impa?

I am holding onto my early prediction that Javeon Williams will beast out this season. 100% agree with what coach said about not acting like Barry Sanders. Down hill runner, single cut and then hit the hole with the power he has, coupled with his frame. He should punish defenses and really get his big gains in the 4th quarter. I was very intrigued also when Shakir Love was said to move to receiver. I will need to see if he has that speed. Harrison I want to see run the rock. If they can add some option to the strong I formation sets then Washington will be a handful. Possibly the best running team in the city when you combine what Bowens will do for them.

As a tight end i mean

Weight matter at tight end. It turns into effort when blocking. You however need to present a sick mismatch in the passing game if you get locked up against linebackers. I think Wyatt Weeks does some great things as an under sized TE for Tonganoxie. He simply out works you.

Do you believe if you're smaller than most people. weight wise but you're still strong and say 6'2 you could still be successful?

As a receiver on the outside you can. Honestly you would be better in the slot so you can build up a head of steam. If you know how to use your hands to get people off then your weight doesn't matter as much. Technique is probably > strength when it comes to this. But when you are playing against superior competition at corner it will be a struggle.

Atchisons Tanner Huntington? Predicted touchdowns and interceptions?

19 and 6 is hard to follow up. He may get some cheap TD's off screens to Housh. Ehhh.. Ross not being there may have an effect. I also think they will find more success on the ground. 17 and 8 conservatively.

Did you ever get to see Steven peoples sophomore season??

I obviously watched a lot of Washington film. I didn't watch specifically for him. If there is a highlight please send it to me.
