Who all do you think will be in the dunk and 3pt contest and how will you pick the All-stars?

Right now I have Todd Kennedy of Wyandotte, Patrick Muldoon of Basehor and Carl Hecht of Tonganoxie in the dunk contest. 3 point is pretty open but I will only have 3 reps per league on the girls and boys side. Shoot off will take place in practices the week before. All Star selection are strictly up to us. We will get some input but if you are a top senior on your team then we are inviting at least one. If that invite is turned down then we will work to fill the spot.

The problem with most of the KVLs "shooters" is that they may score 20 but give up 25 in the lack of D and no help side. I'd take an all around player over a "great shooter" any day unless I am playing a game of PIG.

I will take the shooter and coach defense.

Thanks for your input and spotlight brought to the young men and women representing their schools ! What motivates you to spend so much time working for these teams ? There is very little info out there about games, results etc..Local coverage is all but long gone ! Thanks

I have really developed a mantra that "to whom much is given much is expected". I am not famous or wasn't really a star athlete but I love sports. I grew up poor and just want the kids of the city that I grew up to see someone care and what is possible. I am not perfect but if what I do helps one kid get money for college then I would be happy. There are sacrifices that I make and that is why I have pulled back a little this year to avoid getting burned out. I enjoy it and I feel the appreciation so that helps keep me motivated.

Please get your facts right. Downing and Younger were starting Sophmores on the 2012 Championship team not Freshman.

Who cares. They were still good role players with very talented stars.

I would be very surprised to see anyone from the KVL get a D1 offer this year in Bball. Usually those recruits sign before their Senior year. Bball is much tougher than Football to make it because of so few spots open. Your thoughts ? Have you watched any NAIA or Division 2 Bball this year ?

Getting a d1 scholarship is hard. 3 i can think of off the top of my head. There is zero shame in getting to play at any college level. I have played against naia players and to me they are extremely talented. Getting a free education and seeing the kids take advantage is all I really care about.

McPherson must be related to you he can do no wrong in your book. Funny how you don't even mention Younger from the 2012 team he was a very important part of that state championship team

Not related at all. I didn't mention younger because he was a freshman. A part of it, yes but we know who ran the show. Every championship team has to have a good supporting cast so they were all important. No player is perfect.

Ryann Smith from Basehor is on the come up. Tons of talent and a hard worker. Watch out for her Senior year.

McDowell is the only one you would get out of Basehor lol... Not a large talent pool at Basehor in terms of girls basketball.

Prospects for the All-Star game for the girls?

KVL - Leggett, hammock, white for sure. Need to research basehor, ward, turner and tongie. Bennett from Bonner. Kcal - Scales, Cushinberry and will be looking from there.

Jahron is a much better athlete than JP, but Downing was a far better basketball player. True, Downing wasn't flashy, but protected the ball, shoots much better and didn't play careless. I think Muldoon starts with the 12' squad, but that is about it. Either way, BL is playing great this year.

Again I like JP but I dont get the protected the ball. Many players handled the ball and others got doubled. I wont turn it over if i have waterman twins and ben johnson to pass it to.

Great performance from Kalem Harrison the past 3 games scoring in the high 20's.. Do you think he is becoming Washington main scorer?

One of a few players that can make it happen for them. Happy to see him break out.

I'm a freshmen at Basehor and play football. I just want to be good like Ben Johnson and Drew Potter. How do I get good like them

Genetics plays a major roll. Work your ass off.

Who would win in basketball.. Eudora or basehor and by how much if you had to predict?

We could feasibly see that at state if eudora gets past miege in sub state. Basehor has more firepower. Mcpherson would lock up with downing. Can alternate muldoon and dale again ballock. Basehor has too much fire power in my opinion. Eudora is not very deep.

Matt Appl is the best shooter I've ever seen. What do you think

I can see how he goes off like he does. He can prove it in 3 point contest.

Wouldn't Say Ward put up "a hell of a fight" vs basehor they only posted 13 Pts in the second half.

The statement was a hell of a fight for a half.
