That is news. Not sure why he would be at a camp participating with linebackers if he isn't. I guess it is possible he isn't.
What about basehor football?
Talk about unknowns and holes to fill. Perhaps the best linebacker combo in the city with Phillips and McCleary. If Phillips is going to be the focus of the offense then that could have an impact on him playing defense. Lindsay and McPherson are also wild cards. Also take away Lillich and Barnes on the line and it could be a struggle for Basehor football.

How do you think basehor boys basketball will do in the league and substate?
I don't know yet how Muldoon will fit in with Younger, McNabb and Downing. KVL basketball league is going to be pretty sick this year. I like Piper in the league. I would have to see who is in the substate before predicting. The bottom line is that Basehor is going to be just fine in basketball in 2013.

What's your prediction on tonganoxie football this fall?
Tonganoxie has a lot coming back. Levy and Holloway is a very good combo on offense. If Ford keeps the INT's down they will be competitive this year. Good playoff run in 2012 so we will see if this group of seniors goes out with a bang.
What's your predictions on Atchison?
Atchison is going to have some weapons. Huntington is coming off an injury. I really am high on Housh. Wyandotte vs Atchison should be a good game. Possible SHUKC broadcast game. I would pick them to be second in KCAL with a playoff birth likely if the district is the same.

Dumler, Jackson are givens. Need to see what this receiving group is able to produce.

Burl Brisbane, Colin Murphy, Dimonic McKnizy. There are others I think are very good but this would be my top tier.

The player of the year will be an underclassmen. Derek Sykes (Sumner) or Deionta Nunnally (Wyandotte).
Who are the best teams you have covered?
I am a bit partial to the Sumner team Vernon Vaughn played on. Piper's run last year was very good. Basehor's state title team was very good. I wish Vaughn would have gotten to play his senior year in basketball.
What do you think about Bonner Football?
A lot will depend on just how dominant Kyle Dumler is just playing defense. If Jordan Jackson meets my goal of 2500 total yards then Bonner will do just fine.
Players to watch in basketball for the KVL this season?
Chase Younger, Joe Schneider, Khalil Bailey, Evan Brull, Wyatt Voorhes, Jake Dale, Dominique Jennings, CJ Harper, Luke Long, Patrick Muldoon, Jordan Jackson. There are a bunch. KVL wins Boys All Star game this year.
What's your prediction of Piper's season this year?
Piper will make the playoffs again and that has a lot to do with who they get to play. Well coached so we should see another run in the 4A playoffs.
Thoughts on lansing football this year
I am optimistic they take a step forward. They lose Lucas Mein and the big lineman. There are some capable athletes. I think they have a good coach as well.

Possibly starting a sophomore QB locks you in as an underdog. Sumner will have to figure out how to stop the run before they are a favorite.
