What sports do u cover?
I will report all if information is shared. Primarily football and basketball. I will report as well on track and baseball. I don't have the time to monitor and track every sport. If you want to report for your school I will accept guest writers.
How do you think Ward will do this year in football and basketball?
Football they get a win. I am bringing the Oreos to the party. Ward should have a shot to make some noise in substate. Brull, Henley and tucker return in basketball and should improve from last year.

We will see if he takes a step forward this year. We will tell the first time he breaks open. If he can get the edge and go then he will take a step forward. If he gets run down then there is still work to do. I am real high on him as a person. Very respectful young man. Should be a be a leader for sumner.

From which incoming freshmen class do you think can win state in basketball their senior year?
I have been told the freshman class at Basehor will be special. That however was just hear say. I haven't seen any of these young players. I really don't know.
What about this Kid Trevon Jones?
I think Piper will look to get the ball in his hands a lot this season. He will be Pipers human joystick. Was a threat in the return game as team Jones did a good job establishing good field position. The obvious concern is his size but he will have a productive season.

Who do you think is the best Senior, Junior, Sophmore, and Freshmen from each league at basketball?
I won't do freshman. Kcal senior: mckinzy, junior: cobbins, sophomore: Sykes. Kvl: senior Berry, junior, Abbott, sophomore McPherson.
Do think Basehor will make a run at state this year?
In basketball they will be in the conversation. Big pick up for them having Muldoon transfer in. Downing, McNabb will be steady but the Bobcats will rely on Younger to open everything up.
what are your predictions of Javeon Williams this year
Williams burst on the scene at rb and lb for Washington. The return of the big power back as he had an incrredible four or five game stretch. If he can handle the load I believe he is the top rusher in the kcal.
Which kvl team had the most skilled freshmen team last season?
I really don't know. I heard the freshman class for Basehor this year will be strong. The younger Murphy will be a freshman this year. I only keep an eye at the varsity level. There aren't enough hours in the day.
How come you don't do alot of coverage or talk about Leavenworth Highschool Boys Basketball . They should be interesting next season
SHUKC is dedicated to the KVL and KCAL in terms of coverage. I attended Schlagle and graduated in 1994 and this is a portion of what I do to give back to my home community. This was an area of neglect for KCK and it is my intention to make other areas wish they were playing in KCK. No offense of course to any other schools but I intend to stay local to KCK.
What do you think about powerlifting?
I attended the powerlifting event at Basehor-Linwood and think any football player that is not playing basketball should participate. It is essentially combine prep x3. This was not around when I was in high school but I wish it was. Basehor has done an awesome job with that event and I would like to see more in the area. Not every school has the equipment to compete at a high level but the benefits of the training are many.
is the future of BLHS womens bball better off with the new coach, or with former coach simpson?
I never had the pleasure of meeting coach Noah Simpson. I have watched more than a few Basehor girls games and I don't think I see anything glaring coach is doing wrong. It takes time to get things established.
Whats your opinion of Austin Downing? Solid solid player. And raw talent. D1 potential?
Is that a question and answer? I havent seen him play but if you think it can happen then do work and make it happen!
What about atchison girls basketball? The rest of the kck teams cant even match them! Especially this past year. Ya think?
Sorry let me wake back up because I slept on Atchison girls. Arika Smith returns along with a few other solid players. I am wrong in my earlier response. They walk through kcal.
Who are the best girl teams in both kvl and kcal?
Washington with Womack or schlagle ledesma. Kvl is tough because I know of a key injury. So Bonner will be the team to beat this winter.

Who will be the best basketball team in the KVL?
Piper returns a starting 5 that should be strong up front with shooters. Owens, Long, Eskina, Harper and Jennings. All contributed to a substate title. Basehor got stronger picking up Muldoon. We will see if he is an upgrade to the team over Ogilvie. KVL is going to be fun but my preseason prediction is Piper.
What are your expectations for Maur Hill Mount Academy this year?
I have none. I wish them the best though.
What made that 2010 basehor team so good? Who was on it
Colin Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Ben Johnson, Hiss. Johnson was a sophomore and was doing well at receiver but also making his name at defensive end. There were a few players with close to 100 tackles. I believe Basehor is pretty generous with the tackle counting but that in it self was no perfect science. They lost 1 game that year to a team that got hot.
Witch will the Redmen have better stats at on the ground or throwing and do you think housh will lead kckal in rushing?
Huntington had a very good season last year. 19 and 6 is nothing to laugh at. I would be a tad surprised to see Housh lead the league in rushing although the potential is there. Javeon Williams I believe will get more carries. There are more carries available now that Ross is gone. I think it will depend on what they have at receiver.
whats more important: X's and O's or the Jimmy and Joes? coaching or players?
This is a good question. It is almost a chicken and the egg conversation. You don't see Phil Jackson running to Charlotte to coach. Coaching is what gets the most of talented players. Talented players can suffer from poor coaching. Eric Spoelstra won 2 championships so the answer is players.
What players have you seen in this area who have that basketball IQ?
