Bonner Beat Turner 56-52 way better than them . Told you they the worst team in the league

You also said Bonner would win by 30. 4 is hardly a blow out. They are not worst in the league.

Does Mill Valley have any chance at making it to state this year?

Depends on how substate line up. Girls possible but i am not optimistic about boys.

KVL is one of the worst leagues in the state of Kansas?

It is top heavy. The league has 3 state champions in the last 5 or 6 years and one team that wemt undefeated. Another this year with a shot to do the same. The bottom of the league has been bad yes but not sure it is the worst.

Turner has no chance of winning. Worst team in our league for sure lol

Turner beat Ward. Could beat Tongie as well.

Bryan Salsgiver leaving Washington. His jobs posted on District website your thoughts

That was announced a few months back. No news on a replacement. My fear it will drag out.

Tongie had more students at Bonner than Bonner had. Bonners student section is weak

Shots fired Orange Crush!!

What'd you mean break the code of conduct?

It is a pet peeve of mine to do the "I believe" chant when the outcome is decided. You need to be down or at the start of the game. When you are up 8 with 15 seconds left you don't really believe anything. Not unless you want to chant "I know we have won." but that would be lame. Belief equals faith. Faith is the belief in something that is not seen or has not taken place.

Top 3 student sections in the KVL?

Basehor and Bonner have good numbers most of the time but both break the student section code of conduct. Mill valley crowds have been good but mostly quiet. They had a novel concept of have a cheer leader actually lead the chant. Piper had the best a few years ago but I am not sure this year. The Piper Harlem Shake is still a positive memory. Washingtons band does a great job.

I've recently been to watch basketball at Bonner,Basehor, Tongy, and Mill Valley. It surprised me to see so few students and not much noise from the student sections. Your thoughts ?

I think it depends on the game. Mill Valley had a great crowd for Bonner. Basehor has had good student sections. Piper has been quiet for the last few seasons. Football had some good crowds.

Do you ever follow up on bball players once they go to college ? Would be interesting to see how many players are getting playing time or even still on the team ? Sounds like Joe Lendway may be the most productive player from last years group of bball players ?

I dont as much as I would like. Tyler Owens and JT Bennett are playing. Lendway and there are a few others at Independence. Benny Parker is in his senior season at Nebraska. bJ watson is now at a 4 year school. Not enough time.

POY contenders on the girls side?

Way up in the air. Scales and Brown at Schlagle, Patton and Roark at Sumner, Jackson at Bonner, Wayne at Piper, Leggett at Mill Valley are a few names. Plenty of time for this to shake itself out.

POY contenders for boys

I set myself up for that one. Bass at Wyandotte, Muldoon at basehor, McNeal at Washington, Wykeen Gill of Atchison, Eskina at Piper would be my top candidates right now. Still a lot of games to play.

News flash for Basehor fans Pat Muldoon would not be playing a 4 or 5 in college unless it is D2 or NAIA and he doesn't handle the ball well enough to play a guard. He is a good player but not D1 unless it is at a very low level D1 school. Kaw Valley League is not very good competition this year.

No he wouldn't but what we don't know is if he could be a 3 at a smaller D1. His game overall reminds me of what you see at KU with Perry Ellis. Ellis who is probably a couple of inches taller but has a good back to the basket game. He struggles then against bigger players. Ellis will show flashes of shooting ability from out from but isn't coming off screens to knock down jump shots. What you saw from Shamet is exactly what Muldoon would have to be doing to be a D1 player. I want to make sure this is taken the right way. The kid is very good and the fact this is even a discussion is about as good of a compliment as he could be paid. But if I had to guess he would be a D2 player or NAIA. If he wanted to keep the D1 hope alive he would play JUCO and plan to try and develop his shooting and ball handling. What I do know is unless he quits the team or gets hurt, he will be in my top 3 for consideration for our POY award.

Will the shukc coverage tonight be broadcast live?

Yes that is my plan. I haven't been doing live for no good reason so yes I will be planning to broadcast live on Ustream. I will embed the video on SHUKC's website.

I would ask the Park Hill fan this question...do you not think Muldoon played "out of position"? News flash, he's not a guard. IMO big kid wouldn't have guarded Pat anyways, he would've guarded Fliger. Not quick enough to keep up with Muldoon.

Yes he was out of position guarding a 3. We may have seen Muldoon farther away from the rim. He shot layups basically in the second half of the game. Depends on how big of a presence he would have been.

Who do you got Sumner or Piper?

I like Piper. Just from the sense that Sumner is turn over prone and Piper has the guards to actually help them give it away. Sumner has the talent but has been inconsistent. If they show up and play to their potential though they can win. Close game.

How do you feel about McNeal leading 5a in scoring & shooting 57% while doing it? Is it because his bigs get all the attention?

I thought that at first. It certainly helps that he doesn't need to stay in and rebound but he is one of the better finishers around the rim I have seen. A scorer in every sense of the word because he can get you in so many ways. Gifted offensive player.

do you think Muldoon could/should go D1?

I have been giving that some thought. I would have to write my thoughts out.

Is it just me or does anyone else not like the way that certain Basehor players have to talk to the ref after every foul thart is called on them? Not very good sportsmanship

Refs allow it so if they ask in an appropriate way for clarification then it is fine.

Shamet was playing out of position all night due to park hill missing one of their 6'7 players thatvwas on a recruiting trip Basehor played a great game but Park Hill probably gets the win at full strength

I have never seen Park Hill so I didnt know that. Football player I would assume. Sure it would have helped but there is little point in what ifs.
