I've noticed that some players havnt been taking the weight room very seriously in the KVL. Who are some the kids you have seen that have gotten much bigger since last year ?

It is a culture change that needs to be made across the entire area. You will not show up 2 weeks before the season and make a difference and we won't make noise come playoff time. I would point to a guy like Tanner Eikenbary who really takes his workouts serious. He is a great example of what the power lifting program can do. Keep an eye on Sterling Owens also at Piper.

What are your thoughts about coach bogart at mill valley? Good or bad?

He finished 3rd in State last year. First year that I watched Mill Valley basketball closely so no real opinion. I was disappointed they had their banquet the same day as the All Star game but I will get over it. Time will tell.

The only playoff loss I witnessed first hand was against Sumner Academy a few years back. I don't think he did anything particularily wrong in that game in fact I think the team did good staying in that one. Vaughn, Parker and Allen all went nuts in that game with Brisbane at QB. So no I do not agree with this statement. Getting to the playoffs is tough so at least he is in the conversation.

Once KSHSAA splits up 4A football, how do you think Ward will do in there districts?

I believe basketball will split this year. They will be by themselves in the smaller district I believe. It will even the playing field for them a bit but in the end you still have to have talent. Ward I think has ~325 kids enrolled. You just aren't going to get a lot done choosing from 300 as you do 700. The fact they have 5 or 6 play makers this year is something to look forward to for Ward.

Great question! If you ask me right now I will say football. With the games likely airing on TV I am excited to get the season going. I do think the drama specifically in the post season will come from basektball this year.

I am down on it minus a player we named to our all shukc offensive line twice not being on it. There will be a step back. Les Wessel will anchor the line. No predictions until I hear who is on it.

I didn't know that Hoffine was lining up at receiver. I have heard good things about Freese but I haven't seen either in action yet so I don't know just yet. I need to get them to a work out and see.

Predictions for Turner Football? and Your thoughts on Paul Berry.

I think very highly of Paul Berry. We named him our offensive player of the year. I do think he took full advantage of a very good offensive line featuring another All SHUKC performer Sam Worthy. That is my main concern for him this year is what is up front to create the holes. He is a hell of an athlete and has shown real well this summer at combines. I really hope he gets a shot at the next level at a D1 school.

Predictions for bonner football this year.

There are a lot of unknowns with Bonner. Wessel, Jackson and Dumler are easy targets to say they are going to do their thing. Freese, Mason, Dooley, Adams are a few others that will make or break Bonner. I am optimistic. Last year that loss at Piper crushed that team. Momentum means a lot.

I wish I could have covered the early Sumner teams. I am curious what I would have said about some of the things I saw with Reese Holliday at Sumner. He was a very powerful player. Travaughn White is another. Trinity Hall perhaps.

I am high on Tongie. A good core of senior leadership that made a run in the playoffs in 2012. Ford, Weeks, Holloway, Levy. This team has a chance to do something special because I know at least of few of these players have been putting in work this summer.

I would say Beebe. I am spoiled and have extremely high expectation for simply how the ball is caught. Receivers imo opinion should not catch the ball. I prefer to see them snatch the ball out of the air.

Atchison had one of the biggest surprise wins in 2012 knocking off Wyandotte. Getting to the playoffs will again be a good possibility for them this year. If Huntington and Housh can make up for the loss of Ross then they can take another step forward. I don't think they will win league.
