Any thoughts on KVL league champs in the "Other" sports this fall?

I will be 100% honest and say no. I can have a good conversation about basketball but not much else right now. Baseball I do plan to see if this is going to be viable to broadcast this year. I do hear Piper has a good soccer team but outside of sharing results I haven't had the time to follow too closely.

Evan Brull??

I have a mountain of respect for Evan for reasons I won't go into. I know that he is a fighter and has a ton of heart. Rarely does he turn down the opportunity to work. One of the first nick names I passed out was Evan "Rainbow" Brull. I wish him the best as he tries to make some noise on the football field this year.

I know you know the murphy twins. What are your thoughts on them?

I got to know the Murphy twins quite well. Not many know this but I got knocked out during a league basketball game and Ryan drove me home afterwards. Two of the quietest young men I have encountered but they were a flat awesome to cover and work very hard. I saw them very early in there MoKan careers and they grew up into state champions. Ton of respect for these two guys.

Luke Long?

Great young man. I have gotten to interact with his parents and understand why I think this way. There is no replacing quality parents and what that means for a potential college athlete. Coaches will go to the extent to ask if both parents are in the home and what type of environment they live in. It all plays and factor and his strong family plays a big role in his success. Under sized but very high IQ on the court. Big year for him to show leadership in continuing to build on the success from last year. Big fan!

Dooley is a senior?

I thought he was a sophomore or junior. Another smart Bonner student. Loved his passion saying he was going to ace the ACT!!

What do you think of Jordy?

I met Jordan as a sophomore. He made me a believer with one of the best runs by a QB I have seen in the 3 years following the area (17 TD and 1 INT). He is fast and an overall athlete with his abilities in basketball and track. He is a stellar student who did very well on his ACT as a sophomore with goals to go even higher. Do I get to hang with him day to day? No. I just can go by my interaction with him the last few years and I think the very highly of him. One story I will share about him last year. Its no secret that I am a fan of this young man and last year he was one of the few players that did not make our SHUKC team after landing on our original team a few years ago. His response to me was that he didn't deserve it. Others honestly would hold that type of thing against you so this showed his maturity and accountability. He is the type of player I would want on my team and I expect big things from him this season.

I play for jordy and I personally do not believe he Carries the team, he is a little egotistic and doesn't want to give the ball up, from my experience in the game on highschool level the way to rule the feild is through the air and honestly with him running it every single time we don't stand a cha

If you really are a team mate of Jordan's then this statement is a serious failure on your part. Approach him with issues like this and keep it in house. The fact you would consider saying this heading into the first week of the season is shameful. I really do hope this isn't a bonner player.

How confident are you in your Basehor ward prediction, do you hope your wrong?

I picked Basehor-Linwood in a tight one. I would never hope to be wrong. I just think that 56 points will be engrained in the heads of the Ward players. Sure they will compete but you have to learn how to be a winner. Basehor-Linwood better bring it Friday or they will get embarrassed.

How's bonner going to do when Jordan is gone next year ??

They have been gromming the Conner Byers (spelling) for a few years. He will be a junior and have the benefit of playing with a real team mate the last few years. Freese and Dooley will be a year older. Lets see who steps up this year before we wish Jordan's senior year away.

Have you heard of the color man that drops mad knowledge during games? I hear he is the Ric Flair of broadcasting! The ladies want to be with him, the men want to be him! Wooo!

Thoughts on Missouri combo, Ashton West?

I have watched a couple of his highlight tapes and he is a knock down shooter. He can handle the rock as well. I haven't seen him play live but I hear a lot of good things about him.

Thoughts on bonners tightnends this year? I hear a sophomore is starting due to junior Ross Hogan not being eligible

I haven't personally heard of him or seen him over the summer. We will keep an eye on him Friday.

Wards got a decent point guard in Long Ho, played decent time on varsity since he was a sophomore

He would have to step up big time. Brull played pg too much.

Can you give a debrief of what you see ward doing this year in basketball, with Brull Henley Tucker, and now this 6'7 holy grail of a post? What are your predictions from post season as well since they're getting dropped to 4a division 2?

A lot depends on if a point guard surfaces. I watched the video of the big guy and yes he would be a handful but I would need to see him live. The people he was playing didn't look overly skilled. I am not sure if he can get up and down the floor. If you negate Evan's skills by making him the PG then Ward won't really be able to play to their strengths. I am optimistic they will be better this season.

What is your attitude towards hunting?

Never hunted but I love to fish. I miss my boat. Big time catfisherman. I don't do rivers but love to catch channel cat. I don't have an issue with hunting.

How do you think the braves will fair agents the bobcats this year in football? Should we expect another blowout or a pretty fair match?

100% mental. Braves are better than Basehor this year. Thought they were last year and was wrong. Play in the end zone sunk them.

How do you think bonner will be in basketball this year?

Will be interesting as they will have a young group coming up to take over the team. Jordan Jackson will be a solid contributor but think he has defined himself on the basketball court as a key piece instead of a leader. Jordan is naturally unselfish so I don't see him coming out and going for 20 each night. I heard about Joshua Adams who is young and a set of twins that are supposed to shoot lights out.

do you honestly believe football is a safe sport for high school athletes to play? Seems like a lot of injuries have been happening some of them career threatening

No sport is injury free. It is a contact sport and yes the risk of injury is higher. I will just say you can get hurt in any activity if you do it the wrong way. Baseball you can get hit in the head by a hit ball and get hurt. Baseketball you can turn an ankle or even worse hurt your knee. Injuries are a part of sports.

What do you think of Derek Sykes and His Upcoming Sophomore Season? What should teams watch out for?

I will be a little vocal here and say that I am incredibly disappointed that he didn't play football. He reminds me so much of my cousin Vernon Vaughn who was a very good basketball player and had that same type of explosive jumping ability. There is so much he gained from playing football from a toughness stand point and just overall body development. I think it will be a detriment. He has a load of potential as an athlete so hopefully he plans to run track or something to further develop his frame. I want to see him going to the rim this year a lot more. He has a good short jump shot but he needs to go to the basket and get fouls. Could be his team as a sophomore for Sumner. I haven't seen him coming off the summer to see if he has grown.

When do athletes going to Juco or NAIA schools sign their commitment letters?

Best of my knowledge all sign at the same time at the end of the season's. I don't have exact dates.

do you think coach hopkins will finally be exposed this year since he does not have any true top[ talent to work with?

What coach wouldn't be exposed void top talent. Coaches need good players to win.
