Do you dream?

Yes, I dream. When I take melatonin for sleeping I have especially vivid and strange dreams, but generally not nightmares thankfully.

Though I tend not to recall them.

? It’s approaching the weekend of the Eurovision Song Contest. ? While I don’t follow it myself, I’m interested whether or not you do! ? Do you usually watch the ESC? Will you be watching it this year?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I never watch it, whenever i've heard an entry it was utter wank shite so I'm not going to sit there for hours for the sake of it.

It's a shame as it's not a bad idea but it just doesn't do anything for me

How do you feel about profanity? Do you swear much yourself? Do you mind when others do? Are there certain words you would never use?

I swear a lot at work when stressed. Otherwise I only use it for great emphasis or when quoting someone else. I do think oaths should be sparingly used and if you see me effin' & jeffin' something is probably seriously wrong, or at least I think it is!

Do you think children born today will have it better or worse than their parents? Do you think you are or will be better off than your parents?

I think I am worse off than my parents as it's harder to make a living, buy a house etc, doing the same job.
The definition varies, it's good that we no longer have the diseases like consumption, smallpox etc carrying millions off in infancy, and that almost everywhere the battle against polio is won.
But it's in the human condition to be dissatisfied with our lot (the reasons why are fascinating to speculate on, but maybe not at 7am!) so perhaps we will never be happy on earth.

Have you ever tried to learn song lyrics by heart to impress your friends with singing long verses?

I can sing all of The Impossible Dream but that's the only one I have committed to memory

? I had an exchange with someone on Twitter about our least favourite songs. One of mine was so bad I only have image memories of it. One of his was a TV theme tune. My worst is the UKIP Calypso. We both included the Goombay Dance Band’s 7 Tears. What’s your least favourite piece of music?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I remember the UKIP calypso, just about, though I won't be listening to it!
Everybody, you've been warned about this song and sonehow it seems appropriate that I'm talking in May about a Christmas flop, but this is still the worst thing I've ever heard.

It isn't even aggressively bad in a way that borders on interesting, just irredeemably bad.

? Hereabouts, one’s “local” is a nearby pub where one usually goes to drink or eat and to catch up with friends. ? For the purpose of this question I’m including cafes too ?. ?? So do you have a “local” and how often do you frequent it?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
My local as in the nearest pub is a hellhole that I scrupulously avoid, both because it's awful in its own right, and because all the fuckers I was at school with go there.
So me and my friends seek out the closest good pubs and I'd call this my local even though it's 2 miles away. I go there about once a month.
