Do you love walking? With whom?

I love walking but sadly my girlfriend doesn't!
One of the best ways to get the feel of a city is to walk through it as a flaneur, taking the temperature of the place slowly, if with friends then sitting down in some places for a drink & a rest, if alone maybe listening to an audiobook about the history & culture of the place or a fiction book set there.
Walking is also good for exercise and recreation, I walk 3-4 miles each day and more at weekends and it clears my head in the morning.

Between songs like Every Breath You Take by The Police and Ava Adore by The Smashing Pumpkins, there isn't a lack of creepy love songs in existence. Apart from these examples, what are some of the creepiest love songs and lyrics from them that you know?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
You like your songs, don't you? :)
So do I!
Creepy love songs aren't something I know much about but Judas Priest have done a few.

Why can't I sleep?

Sorry I don't know?
I don't know your circumstances and if I had general advice on how to sleep, I'd take it myself and be a lot happier!
The only suggestion I can make is to be CERTAIN your devices are switched off at bedtime, preferably an hour or so before, and not turned on until morning, as you'll absolutely ruin your chances of sleeping well.
Possibly take some melatonin but not too much as while it's the best sleep aid, it doesn't do to become reliant on anything at all.
Best wishes anon, and get a profile and explain more about yourself if you want a more specific answer!

What's a song you associate with goths?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
Despite being brought up Catholic (as Robert Smith was, obvs) I didn't know what a holy hour was until I went to do a photoshoot at a Catholic cathedral (at Salford, Manchester) and slowly realised that something was going on and that the people in there were doing some kind of organised activity that involved revering the sacrament that the priest held up.
So I beat a hasty retreat as I didn't want to disturb the worshippers, then when I went back a wedding was going on, so the photoshoot never actually happened, but hopefully will soon.

What's a song you associate with emos?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
Interesting set of questions, not all of which I can answer (I don't for instance know what jocks listen to, but I'm sure it's complete shit).
The whole emo thing passed me by and while I've actually listened to a lot of bands like funeral for a friend (my university neighbour was a huge fan so I didn't have much choice!) I've never liked any of them.
It's interesting that Drive-By Truckers, who are normally an excellent country-tinged hard rock band, suddenly did this song which sounds like the emo music, but better. It was 2006 so perhaps they wanted to prove they could do the trendy stuff, better than the trendy people could?
It's excellent anyway.

Have you ever drunk a “Yard Of Ale” (see link)? If not, would you attempt it, whether it was ale or replaced with a non-alcoholic substitute like fizzy pop (soda)? ?? https://ask.fm/CactusDoug/answer/156033063920?utm_source=copy_link&utm_medium=iOS

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I haven't drunk a yard of ale!
My binge drinking days ended at about the same time Girls Aloud split up, and today I just drink a bit, in a sociable, relaxing way, not for the sake of drinking.
I'll have a pint of Titanic Plum Porter if you're offering?

? The deodorant I use has recently changed its spray nozzle so that it looks identical to before, but the spray now comes out of the other end so I’ve just practically blinded myself! ? What’s something you use that’s changed in a pointless, nuisance way recently?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
Some totally futile software update at work. There's nothing wrong with the old software, and it's being changed (in a pointlessly complicated way) just because the hipsters who work there think change is good in its own right, regardless of whether it's for the better or worse.
I have to explain to the new starters what's going on, despite having no idea myself!
It's been postponed once so they obviously realise they've gone too far, the problem is they will just release that bs with minor tweaks when it eventually happens.

What’s something free of charge that makes you happy?

Buddleia plants! I know they are seen as a weed but I like the way they come into ex-industrial sites and beautify them. I love at this time of year looking at and smelling the purple flowers, and watching butterflies dance on them.

Have you ever had an imaginary friend?

No.
But I know Robert Smith used to have one and his experiences with his invisible friend may interest you if you take an interest in that sort of thing.
"In 1970, aged 10, I fell off my bike and suffered quite severe concussion; sporadically, over the following 2 years, I suffered fleeting but intense daytime hallucinations of a girl I called 'Bunny'. In 1972 I flew for the first time; a few minutes after take-off the plane hit really bad turbulence and I suffered a very violent attack of nausea and vomiting, along with an incredibly severe headache; after this event my 'Bunny' visits stopped... In 1984 in nyc jfk airport whilst waiting to pass through immigration I met a girl who was the spitting image of 'Bunny'; her 'real' name was Anna; we talked very briefly... "Catch" is about this chance encounter."

Do you agree with the phrase "only boring people get bored"? Why/why not?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
Not exactly, because even the most interesting, well-informed and cultured person would get bored doing the job I do, or when (for instance) they are in a waiting room and need the important thing they've scheduled to be happening as soon as possible but there are delays.
I appreciate that people are more likely to get bored if they can't or won't read a book, meditate on the landscape, or otherwise fill quiet time, but boredom does have a role to play in life and can be a spur to doing interesting things.

Have you or anyone you know used DuoLingo to successfully learn a new language fluently? I keep quitting and I don't know anyone who's finished the program lol

I've never actually heard of it?
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/04/smarter-living/500-days-of-duolingo-what-you-can-and-cant-learn-from-a-language-app.html
The closest I've got is watching films with subtitles. I do wish I'd paid more attention in German at school as it would be good to speak several languages but I've never fully learned.

What's a question that annoys you when you're asked it?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
When people (generally well meaning) ask 'why I didn't do anything with my degree' (in history) or otherwise refer to my lack of career success, as they define it.
I already know about that and don't need a reminder?

In Japan the birth rate and rate of young people dating both dropped over the same years that A.I. dating apps and dating simulation games became more popular. Do you think it has anything to do with A.I. or these games keeping humans from dating humans? Why/why not?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I don't know which way the correlation runs; does technology cause the isolation or is it caused by other factors, which then lead to reliance on technology?
It is an interesting thing though. Anyone who doesn't know about the phenomenon look here.

Do you ever delete your answers on here? Why/why not?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I don't delete permanently but since there is no edit feature (that I know of?) I might notice a spelling mistake/grammatical error and copy, delete, then paste but do a manual edit.

When you're trying something new and have an option of two things, do you ever ask someone else to make the choice dor you in case you dislike the option you choose? Why/why not?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I toss a coin or if there are more than two choices go on random.org and select which number!
Often I am torn between the right thing to do and the thing I feel like doing, so I do the above and abide by the verdict.
