Curry chip or gravy chip

handfree33
Gravy my me. Curry, or cheese (even cheese & curry together; some actually think this is a good idea), are just messing with food. Whereas the gravy & the chips work together towards a shared goal.

★ do you think ready salted crisps are pretty boring? i prefer salt & vineger. ★

crybxbyxo’s Profile Photo★ GᗩYᒪIEᑎ. ★
I only like plain crisps and sea salt & black pepper.
I know this puts me in a minority but I can’t bear salt & vinegar, cheese & onion or prawn cocktail, all of which get on my nerves.
I don’t eat crisps often (am more a peanuts man) so never get bored of what I eat.

You mentioned that you have read some of Graham Greene's travel books, could I ask which those are?

StephenInd’s Profile PhotoStephen Ind
The books I mentioned are:
Journey Without Maps (Liberia)
The Lawless Roads (Mexico)
Getting to Know the General (Panama).
They are all fine books, some of whose ideas were worked into fiction, so I’m looking forward to reading In Search of a Charachter, which is about Congo.

Are you enjoying "A Burnt Out Case" by Graham Greene?

StephenInd’s Profile PhotoStephen Ind
Yes, thank you!
I am going to read Graham Greene’s Congo journal next, as I enjoyed his other travel books and want to read his diary of life in Congo in the 1950s, when (apart from the climate) it was almost wholly unlike today.
Although I do less reading than I’d like to, this is a new voyage I’ll embark on next week.

What's everyone doing this Sunday? 🌈🍃

Christinewhat’s Profile PhotoChristine
I went cycling; cycled to the country park, did my volunteering in the woods there and cycled back. So it was a successful day for me, after which I read ( A Burnt Out Case by Graham Greene) and then ate a lamb pie and a lemon cake, & switched on Frozen Planet 2.

Do you think that England has good economy?

Fontaine
No, everything was already too expensive and incomes already too low before the government crashed the markets and brought us runaway inflation out of ideology.
They are literally worse than Thatcher, who at least got inflation under control (though at too high a price) and who didn’t cut taxes until nine years into her rule.
The absurd Truss/ Johnson double act will hopefully come to an end, and the stench of corruption cleaned out.

Are you doing anything tonight?

Alphabearry’s Profile PhotoJoel
After finishing work at 5:30 (working from home) I jogged, cooked kale soup to eat (with rye bread & then macarons) tomorrow, ate today’s dinner, & ironed, all while watching frozen planet 2.
Now I am not doing anything but will go to bed early as I’m tired from work & jogging.

Have anyone started their Christmas shopping yet 🎅🎅🎅

views1261282’s Profile Photoviews1261282
I’ve printed my 2023 calendar and a photobook of my niece, along with some things that I’ll give as gifts.
I never do Christmas shopping as in scrambling round shops panicking, buying things that aren’t wanted or needed, as I don’t think it does any good to me or the ‘beneficiary’.
But when I give my loved ones things they will use, they will be glad.

What is the worst movie u have ever watched ?

sexy_mummy98’s Profile PhotoAleksandra Gawor
Where The Wild Things Are. Couldn’t stand it, barely got through the whole thing.
The Living Daylights was also quite bad because its plot made so little sense, but it wasn’t anything like so bad a film.
In general, though, I read reviews carefully and only see films about things I’m interested in, so it’s rare I stick something on and hope for the best. So I am pleased to say that I mostly see good films.

Have you ever slept all day?

marykateyelkovan’s Profile PhotoMary-Kate Yelkovan
When I worked nights I’d sleep in the day, but I’ve never spent 24 hours or more just lying in bed except for a handful of days when I was very ill. I did spend 15 hours in bed when I had jet lag, but that was because I was extremely tired.
I do think more than 8-9 hours a night/day, and lounging round till midday at a weekend, is a waste of time, of which I already have too little.

If you felt uncomfortable at your workplace whilst being around your coworkers, how would you go about building your self confidence?

asgardarts’s Profile PhotoLivi;
I’ve been struggling with one of my colleagues, who is one of the most ‘normal’ people I’ve ever met (in a bad way).
The other day she said she was going to a concert of someone that I’d never heard of (I looked him up and he is quite fashionable, though not the sort of person I’m going to know about) and she was amazed, as in ‘Do you really not know who that is? Seriously?’.
Yet when I mention something she doesn’t like or understand, she looks at me as though I’ve got three heads, even though I never try ridiculing her the way she thinks she can with me.
I am a live and let live sort of person and don’t judge, but I get judged plenty. So I can’t much help with your query as I don’t know myself, except that someone who tries telling you how wrong you are is talking about themselves.

There’s a one-story house in which everything is yellow. Yellow walls, yellow doors, yellow furniture. What color are the stairs?

There are none, as it’s a one-storey home.
I first heard this over thirty years ago, so it’s not some new idea to me…

What is your favorite plant? 🌿

I’m planting poppies, nasturtiums, marigolds & campions in my garden this weekend, so my favourite will be whichever (if any) grows best! Wish me luck!

Should more women be in charge in government

views1261282’s Profile Photoviews1261282
It depends whether they’re any good.
I agree women and BME people shouldn’t be held back and discriminated against, but I don’t think being from another background makes someone good.
Liz Truss, Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher were all bad for poor women, and Kwasi Kwarteng, Nadhim Zahawi and Suella Braverman are all bad for poor BME people.
(They also aren’t there on their merits; they came up through a David Cameron’s ‘A List’, which is just about the least meritocratic thing on earth, then got promoted for blind loyalty to Johnson and Truss).
So I’d happily be led by a good woman if one were ready to take over, I just deny that a change in genitals or skin colour is worth anything if those at the top have the same toxic ideas.
