What do fireworks make you think of?

Gandalf's fireworks of course! And do you know they are believed to be based on Vicky's jubilee celebrations in 1897 that the infant Tolkien attended, and I went to the very place!

The fireworks were by Gandalf: they were not only brought by him, but designed and made by him; and the special effects, set pieces, and flights of rockets were let off by him. But there was also a generous distribution of squibs, crackers, backarappers, sparklers, torches, dwarf-candles, elf-fountains, goblin-barkers and thunder-claps. They were all superb. The art of Gandalf improved with age.
There were rockets like a flight of scintillating birds singing with sweet voices. There were green trees with trunks of dark smoke: their leaves opened like a whole spring unfolding in a moment, and their shining branches dropped glowing flowers down upon the astonished hobbits, disappearing with a sweet scent just before they touched their upturned faces. There were fountains of butterflies that flew glittering into the trees; there were pillars of coloured fires that rose and turned into eagles, or sailing ships, or a phalanx of flying swans; there was a red thunderstorm and a shower of yellow rain; there was a forest of silver spears that sprang suddenly into the air with a yell like an embattled army, and came down again into the Water with a hiss like a hundred hot snakes. And there was also one last surprise, in honour of Bilbo, and it startled the hobbits exceedingly, as Gandalf intended. The lights went out. A great smoke went up. It shaped itself like a mountain seen in the distance, and began to glow at the summit. It spouted green and scarlet flames. Out flew a red-golden dragon — not life-size, but terribly life-like: fire came from his jaws, his eyes glared down; there was a roar, and he whizzed three times over the heads of the crowd. They all ducked, and many fell flat on their faces. The dragon passed like an express train, turned a somersault, and burst over Bywater with a deafening explosion.

If you were shopping for a new home, what features would be most important to you?

I've always lived in the same house, since I was born, apart from when I was at university. So I don't know anything :)
I've got my room painted blue, blue bed covers, a striped carpet and maps on the walls. I think if I lived anywhere I'd live on a canal boat, I'd spend most of my time at a wharf in the city and that would be my base but I'd journey to places along the canal in my holiday, I've got friends who do just that and I've been to their boat and once went on a trip with them.

It's a good question, sorry I can't give a real answer :)

What artist would you call a "sellout"?

Michael Gove & Boris Johnson, after their lying claims during the referendum campaign have been busted. In a couple of years they'll be lynched by the people who voted for them & have less than nothing to show for it. :)

Do you have a lucky talisman you keep with you? PAP!

My wallet I bought in Cambodia in December 2013!
I went to this cocktail bar, http://www.misswong.net/ it was really decadent, it had an air of Saint Petersburg in 1913 or the Wei ar Republic and it was really strange but SO good, and I was on my way to this amazing pizza place, randomly in Cambodia.

Feeling buzzed, pre-dinner, having lived my luxorious and decadent cocktail life, I bought my wallet and it reminds me of that time and I still cherish my legendary wallet.

Do you consider yourself to be a messy or a tidy person? Have you always been messy/tidy? If not, how did you change your habits?

It depends, doesn't it? :)
I'm super organised and decisive at work, for instance, where my work is always perfect, and I hope in my photography work I manage to combine creativity with organisation and rigour.

But I'm messy when I think it doesn't matter, and I enclose this picture of my room. :)

On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you RN?

A bit, nay a lot, confused, anon :)
I've been pushing it, working hard, exercising hard, not sleeping much (i generally don't in summer due to the daylight). But I've been having some amazing adventures.
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/photos
These adventures tho have tired me. I had a fantastic trip to liverpool. criminally underrated city, but can't really feel it. And I was upset all day at one of my evil schemes being foiled, but then I got home and found out actually it is going ahead, so I'm delighted, except there's still time for it all to go wrong.
And I'm going here.

So I don't know whether it's good or bad. I'm resting up all evening, hopefully it will be enough.

For me, a lack of interaction is probably worse than nuisance anons. But what behaviours - if any - would provoke you into deleting AskFM?

I'd agree with that, I'm pretty enraged by not getting enough likes :)
It feels pointless making posts that aren't read, I've got some followers on tumblr at last.

Would you say your parents are overprotective?

The power station in my girlfriend's home town is closing and I'm really sad, all those warriors thrown out of work, just like after all the "reforms" in the 80s.

You see, it's a gorgeous picture but there's no smoke coming out so it's sad, just like there'll never be anyone going underground and getting their hands and faces dirty at Chatterley Whitfield where my granddad worked.

Would you ever want to clone yourself?

i've locked myself out and i have to wait an hour for my mum to let me in

Is Islamophobia really a phobia or hatred towards Muslim? What's the difference?

Only the easy questions :)
I think criticism of Islam is definitely valid, if you read Does God Hate Women by Ophelia Benson it doesn't exactly paint a flattering portrait.
People who view themselves as liberal are reluctant to do this for three reasons.
1. Often it is used to "justify" things likethe illegal war in Iraq.
2. Some peopledo just hate Muslims, want to physically attack them, and extend this to racism against Arabs, even though many Arabs are Christians or atheists (both groups that have suffered terribly in the Middle East dueto far-right neocon foreign "policy"
3. Misguided, for want of a better term, political correctness, feeling that Muslims are always oppressed and somehow can't be oppressors.
I urge such people to think about the ex-Muslims who are denied the right to follow another religion or become atheists, like the wonderful Maryam Namazie.

Isn't it staggering that a WoC who has fled persecution can be persecuted, in the capital of my country, intimidated by a strong and burly man from a gender-segregated society, and "feminists" support the male aggressoragainst theWoC he physically threatens!
Tragically, the Camoron regime is "allied" to Saudi, Qatar and whatever the rest of them arecalled and the western countries are trying to butcher Syria and depose Asda just like they did withSaddam and Gaddafi, what do they imagine is next? Those foul regimes are allowed to persecutetheir slaves and commit war crimes in Yemen, but Assad is worse than them? Given Dave's shameless cringing to foreign tyrants if it enricheshis mates.
So some peopledo just hateMuslims and support illegal wars against majorityMuslimcou tries despite the obvious consequences, but we are still entitled to be critical of the system of Islam and I think ppl should.

Does your name have a meaning? What is it?

Andrew was the first person that followed Jesus, I like that, though I'm not strong and manly like the name suggests :)
And I hope not to be crucified on an x-shaped cross!
