If you were accidentally placed in a psych floor in a hospital, what would you say to convince the medical staff that you didn't belong there?

avadroitII’s Profile PhotoAva Banana
I wouldn’t, I’d be afraid they’d finally found me out!
Might try to escape but i doubt I could talk my way out!

What’s on your mind?

Buying my new house next year!
Fairly certain it will be more expensive than the rent I now pay, but hope it will be in a better area!
All a bit nerve-wracking, I’m trying not to worry about it but that does rather mean avoiding thinking about it at all!?

Do you hold some conspiracy theory? Tell us!

The Kremlin finances pro-Brexit organisations & individuals, and (with its useful idiots) lies behind most of the bullshit being spouted on social media about no deal, and about the allied movement of anti-vaxxers.
Neither Russia nor the world can rest until the evil genius who lives there is out.

Why do we get emotional from nostalgia?

Complicated!
Partly because we miss places, people and the state of mind we were in; people also miss their childhood or teens or their time at university because they had less work and fewer responsibilities.
But the kind of ‘nostalgia’/emotion that most interests me isn’t missing people & places we knew, it’s the yearning for something that never was (often people yearn for a past time, even though they didn’t enjoy it as much as their minds tell them they did).
This is something that is part of being human; GK Chesterton said that this is because, though fallen creatures, we have a memory of Eden and are always trying to go back there; while I don’t believe this religiously
(To answer your earlier question, I was raised Catholic but drifted away and am now agnostic)
But everyone is yearning for the land that is over the rainbow, which they feel cannot be reached but want to be in anyway, and they may associate this with a past time or the person they fall in love with but it isn’t actually that time/place/person, but a part of being human and wanting life to be more than it is.
This can be good as it’s what drives scientists, inventors, explorers and so on, but can be bad in that people get hopelessly trapped in their dream world and fail to get the most out of this world.
I hope you are always on the right side!

Do you know what an Irish spice bag/box is? If not, plz make a guess without looking it up. I'll have the answer on my page.

I don’t have the faintest idea! If a British spice box exists, I’ve never heard of that either.
I shall now go to find the answer!

Imagine if aliens come to Earth, can humans be racist to them?

avadroitII’s Profile PhotoAva Banana
Yes, if aliens come in peace and humans could have a beneficial relationship with them, but refuse to do so, then we will lose out because of our racism/speciesism.
But if they try to invade and conquer us, then they will be the racists/speciesists themselves.
What if neither side means harm, but a disease spreads from one to the other? That would be a different question!
I have not really thought much about aliens, though I think they may exist, so this is a random headblurt. Do you think much about aliens?

🗝 So, you’re going to hang some decorations on a tree (any tree, doesn’t have to be a traditional, festival-based, or religious, etc, installation). 💿🗡🎀🔱 What three items that you think represent you in some way would you add to the decorations? 🎈⚙️💎🕹

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
It would be a birch tree, my tree :)
The three things would be a badge from my long distance walk

My camera, and my water bottle that I take cycling & walking.
Not decorative, but symbols of the work I do.

If you're an omnivore, do you typically answer questions about plantbased food? If you're some type of vegan do you answer questions about omnivore food? Does it bother you getting asked those types of questions? (Plz still answer if you're vegetarian, pescatarian etc)

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I’m an omnivore and I am glad to get questions about plant-based food though I may not be able to think of an answer!?

I think that I suffer from moderate depression, but why do I feel like I am not as depressed as usual when I'm busy? Sometimes I feel stupid and ask myself " Am I suffering from depression or am I just faking it?

Please don’t think you’re faking it or let people say nonsense like ‘what have you got to be depressed about’ as it sounds like you have depression.
Keeping busy is one way to deal with the black dog that would otherwise follow you around; in the film Everest, Beck Weathers says that this is why he climbs mountains, to escape the thoughts.
I hope you are able to do things you find fulfilling & creative rather than just earning money, doing errands etc. That would help give you something to set against your depression. But I do understand, as with my walking & cycling I do the same thing!

Hi all, my technical problems have resolved and I'm back on a new account with a new but annoyingly unmemorable @. I think I've remembered everyone I was following, but of course I have no idea who followed me. What have I missed?

I got my mum a great present, and it's one I think will interest all sensible people!
Although it's obviously difficult or impossible to get on a plane, one can go on a journey in the comfort of one's own home!

Rice cooker: underrated or overrated?

I have not used one! Reluctant to buy one but if someone gave me one I’d definitely use it.
