No, I understand that it's meant as a gesture but it seems wasteful to me. I would buy my girlfriend a book about a theme she is interested in, and can read about after flowers have wilted.
Am I unromantic? I don't think so actually, just practical.

Makeup or no makeup for girls?

Girls (and boys) look best in what they want to wear or not wear, and worst in what they feel obliged to wear or not wear.
I wasn't attracted to Nicola at first but I've come to see what a beautiful lady she is, which I think is because at first she was made to dress and behave in a style that wasn't natural to her, and was also geing bullied by fucks like Chris Moyles & Lily Allen, so her trajectory is best evidence that the best dressing is being comfortable & accepted.

I haven't dressed as a tree! I don't wear costumes much unless you count my work shirt & trousers, but I did once dress in a traditional shirt at the Peranakan Museum Singapore which makes me look quite dapper, though I wish I'd had trousers instead of shorts.

When watching the TV debate last night and Boris Johnson and the fawners campaigning for a comfy seat in his cabinet were talking.
Don't know if they are liars or bullshitters (have you read On Bullshit by Harry Frankfurt? It's a good encapsulation of the difference, and Trump and Boris are bullshitters) but certainly what they were saying was unreal.
