If you use an emoji on your DP on this site, which one do you use and why did you choose that one? If not, why not?

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
I don't, but my niece introduced me to a sticker which is now in my repertoire, albeit not much is likely to happen to make me use it over the next few weeks!

Yesterday was International Womens Day so on IG I posted some women who I'm grateful for, mesmerized by and proud of. Who are some women that you're grateful for, mesmerized by and proud of?

Who are these women, out of interest?
I sadly didn't meet any of the ladies described in the below article but I've got to know Brenda Proctor's son, who is a cool person and often speaks of her work, which he rightly takes pride in.

~Memberships~ Are you a member of ♣️ Any social clubs? Σ Σ Σ A sorority or a fraternity? ? Any secret or private clubs/societies? ? A political party? ? Any professional associations? ? A trade union?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I'm a member of the National Trust, the Woodland Trust, & the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, much to the chagrin of my bank manager, but they all do useful work.
Secret societies are on a need to know basis ;)
Professional organisations I can't join as I'm not a member of a profession.
A trade union isn't recognised at our workplace (the very idea wouldn't occue to most) but I would consider joining one if they accepted individual members as I agree they are useful to me and to all of society.

What's one of your own, personal beliefs that you don't think you'll ever change?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I'll always be a staunch environmentalist, I may change my mind on whether certain policies work or not but the goal of a.healthy environment is always in sight, whatever roads we may consider best for this journey.
I attribute this to reading Lord of the Rings as a teenager and being inspired by the struggle of the Ents against Saruman the tree-killer, and wanting to be in on that. Which I hope I now am with my voluntary work, of which I do more than I did 10 years ago, not less!

When it comes to significant others sharing a bathroom, what's your opinion? Should someone be allowed to pee in the toilet while another is showering in the shower etc or is it all a big no-no?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
At first I thought you meant sharing as in having the same bathroom and not having seperate bedrooms (which I support) but then I read it more closely and I think the idea is dubious.
While it can be fun to have a shared shower etc, I myself find the idea you cited revolting. You can use the same room but at different times and clean up afterwards!

What's your favorite fairy-tale from childhood?

I once read a tale that I haven't been able to trace and I'd love to know the original.
There was a wealthy prince who had everything he wanted, and one day he saw a shepherd boy playing the most beautiful tune he'd ever heard on a flute.
Rather than appreciate the music, the prince was seized with resentment and envy that a mere peasant could do such a thing, so he seized the flute.
But when he played on it no tune came out and the music was destroyed.
I do think that tale which I heard as a child has so much resonance to adult life, but I have no idea where it came from so I'd welcome any advice.

In the past, I often called a male teacher "Miss" or a female teacher "Mr". Have you ever messed up anyone's pronouns or prefixes accidentally? What are your pronouns? (I'm he)

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
My pronuns are he, his, and King of England :)
I've never mistagged anyone but I did see a very sad incident when I went to Wetherspoons to use the toilet (I would never drink in a Brexity hellhole like that but I do use their toilet) and a transman was thrown out of the male toilets. I pointed out to the security jobsworth that no one cared or felt threatened, but he said "that's not your call, sir".
So whose call was it and in whose name was such officiousness and thoughtlessness done? Only in Wetherspoons, home of the drunken fuckwit.

What's the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever tried to argue/fight with you about?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
My brother is very keen on his arguments, and once angrily demanded to know why I support Donald Trump. Given that I don't support Trump, this was a fairly bizarre thing to be 'debating', but he's just an argumentative person who always has to think he's winning. The whole thing is bizarre looking back on it.

What is your weirdest "quirk"?

xCha0sThe0ryx’s Profile PhotoChaos Queen
When I get an embarrassing thought (which is quite often- I've embarrassed myself quite a few times!) I randomly sing to myself, either a line of a song I've heard or something I randomly make up. That has earned me a few stares on the bus!

When I comes to things like "cats or dogs", "PS4 or Xbox", "coffee or tea" or "Coke or Pepsi" are you opinionated? What are your opinions and do you think you can be snobby about them or not?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
Cats
Not interested
For the most part tea, though I like a mocha every now & then
I don't care about coke or pepsi, I like a rum & coke but if it's a rum & pepsi I probably won't notice?
I don't think any of those things should be taken seriously though, they're not as important as Brexshit, austerity, climate change etc!
