There’s going to be a civil war I. The U.K. and I can’t wait for it to kick off, on one side we’ll have an alliance of Ulster Loyalists, Brexiteers, Anti Feminists and British Nationalists on the other side we’ll have remoaners, feminists, irish republicans, marxists and muslim extremists.

And as I die in agony at the hands of the Scary Muslims, my last words will be "wish I'd listened to Ben".
See you there. I've got together with Jeremy Corbyn and planned the date fir the uprising, next Tuesday.

Yeah that was spam, but I figured the music questions were you a while back (lately they're all metal bands and it's Ben)

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
Aye, I obviously have nothing to do with Ben.
Anonymity has its uses, for people who are for instance LGBT people, and live in closed communities so they can't tell anyone irl what they think, so I defend people's rights not to use their real identity.
But I do think such people should use pseudonyms rather than being purely anon, as it retains the degree of privacy from (for instance) parents, prying employers who are looking for an excuse to discriminate against people, etc, while it's still the case that the person at the other end knows who you are.

Do you ever go anon to ask questions? Do you find anon bullies as cowardly as I do?

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
I've been known to go anon (I'm the asker of the anon music questions!) but I'll always put my own name to my comments f someone insists on it.

Does it matter what others think of you?

Poem for Remembrance Day
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/jul/16/housman-country-heart-of-england-peter-parker-review
As I gird on for fighting
My sword upon my thigh,
I think on old ill fortunes
Of better men than I.
Think I, the round world over,
What golden lads are low
With hurts not mine to mourn for
And shames I shall not know.
What evil luck soever
For me remains in store,
‘Tis sure much finer fellows
Have fared much worse before.
So here are things to think on
That ought to make me brave,
As I strap on for fighting
My sword that will not save.

If you acquired a 3D printer for free, what would be the first thing you'd program it to make?

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
Some kind of painting or black and white picture of the places I photograph.
I always like to throw in a picture or an engraving by a famous artist or a black and white photo of my places because it provides a good contrast.
Here for instance
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/post/167201307364/clun-n-a-leg-which-has-gone-to-sleep-and-has
That works really well, and I feel the loss if it in shoots where I can't find any.
This one for instance
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/post/166681314144/therefore-said-he-unto-them-the-harvest-truly-is
It would be amazing if I could find an old engraving or something, but I couldn't locate it.
So I'd definitely get to work with black and white or thermography or psychedelic shite or something!
Like this picture of my granddad as an x ray which I took on my brother's ipad (I wish I had sonething like this!?)

What fun things have you done for your “adult” birthdays (i.e., 18+ ages)? Scrounging for ideas ???

AmericanLass’s Profile PhotoC.
What about renting a house in the country, a few miles from a town to give the right balance of privacy and access to features, for the birthday person and certain friends/family?
The most fun I've ever had on a birthday was actually my 30th, I was recovering from an illness so I actually felt I was getting younger rather than older as I was strengthening each day. And I wasn't quite well enough to do anything big but a sense of survival & later, rejuvenation, was in the air.
In May I did the above, stayed in a cottage for my friend's birthday and it was outstanding.
Apart from that I'd need to know specifics of the birthday boy/girl before I could offer any more advice.

Imagine you owned your favourite mode of transport (a car, plane, boat, bike, train carriage, copter, whatever), and you could decorate/customise it with whatever designs, logos or colour schemes you wanted. What would your custom job vehicle end up looking like? Describe it ?!

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I'd have a canal boat called the Rocinante, and just go round doing whatever the hell I wanted and never again going to the office.
The name comes from the horse in Don Quixote, the car in Monsignor Quixote by Graham Greene and of course there's a Rush song about it!

This is hindered by my lack of knowledge of canal boats or any other vehichles (certainly spaceships!) but on a pure level of fantasy.

In your knowledge, how to prevent dementia?

Unfortunately I'm struggling with this as my granddad has dementia, exacerbated (I believe) by the fact that he's never really had any interests or hobbies, so since retiring and being widowed he's had little to keep the old grey matter going.
What I do is take him to familiar places and discuss the times he's been there before, he may or may not remember but I'm told that even if there's no conscious memory, something positive is going on. So that's my advice.
If you're helping someone who has dementia get them into a support group of people in a similar situation from their generation, maybe play some old music from their day, hymns, or something.
For yourself, I recommend reading fiction about people who have suffered in the same way because it really helps give an insight into a senile person's way of operating; my understanding of my granddad was really helped by reading Clayhanger by Arnold Bennett, in which a similar thing happens to a once-dominant patriarch.
Sorry if this isn't helpful but the main thing is to repeatedly do things they remember, preferably from a long time ago, try and tie it in to the present.

Why would you employ a woman as a security guard when any male above the age of 10 can over power them unless the woman is a UFC cage fighter or something along those lines?

What if she was a cage fighter and beat the hell out of you would you enjoy it

It will soon be Bonfire ? Night here, where the people will light huge bonfires, throw effigies on them (usually Guy Fawkes, but increasingly politicians) set off fireworks (a nightmare for pets) and in some places do Penny For The Guy. What (other) event(s) are particular to where *you* live?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I don't know, as I avoid it every year :)
This year I'm taking my dog to a place in Shropshire that's the remotest place I could think of that was doable for a weekend (because she is scared of fireworks)
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/shropshire
More of these hopefully :)

I currently follow you and send you questions. Do you wish I didn't? Let me know. (sent to every active person I follow)

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
I welcome questions, especially yours, which I like. :)
If I don't respond it's because I can't think of anything to say, but never mind that, just keep asking!

How heavy is your portable radio? Why do you take it everywhere with you?

Because I like listening to the World at One, the Archers
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Archers
And a lot of other radio stuff like Week in Westminster.
The funny thing us, I've often been stopped by security for having a suspect device! Yes mate, I'm an international terrorist and I'm going to commit my atrocities with this radio... or not.
People do often ask questions out of curiosity because it's a strange sight in this day and age, but it's very convenient.
I have it because I want my radio programmes and there isn't always wifi in the places I go and I don't want to drain my battery and data by trying it on my phone, so it's best to use this.
I've had it since January, it cost 2 hours' wages and I've got months of radio-y goodness out if it without paying a penny more. Not even a change of battery.
Here is the radio with a cup next to it to show its size. As you can see the aerial is the biggest bit and is what people notice.

What's something you plan on changing?

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
Unfortunately I have no plans for changing/growing in the pipeline at the moment.
But there is a good poem about it! (The going to work on Monday poem, I think of it) by AE Housman.
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/jul/16/housman-country-heart-of-england-peter-parker-review
Stars, I have seen them fall,
But when they drop and die
No star is lost at all
From all the star-sown sky.
The toil of all that be
Helps not the primal fault;
It rains into the sea,
And still the sea is salt.
