What colours do you wear the most or enjoy wearing? What colours do you think suit you the most? ???

ronniebon’s Profile PhotoRonnie
Well I actually quite like wearing a suit and tie at work, and smart shoes, it makes me feel like I'm serious business :)
This is my Nottingham t shirt, I'm going to see Nick Cave and of course Nick Cave and the Cure are allies so hopefully people will like to see me "dressed up to the eyes" and be impressed ;)

What is/was your favourite subject at school? ?

ronniebon’s Profile PhotoRonnie
As you may be able to tell, history :)
Since my interest in creative work has taken off I'm angry at the way art was "taught" at my school. my teacher had some kind of personal grievance against me and made no secret of her hatred of me, while if I had another teacher they regarded me as unteachable in that subject the way other kids were regarded as incapable of doing maths and English.
Admittedly some subjects are done to death in firmal study and that kills interest but what if so eone had told me about, for instance, the joys of photographing my surroundings earlier?
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/photos
In criminally underrated TV series The Village (did you watch it?) Mr Eyre takes Bert Middleton under his wing in a similar way and Bert becomes one of thefirst photographers, his work must be extremely valuable now. So I'd have likedto have something like that, but no!
Unemployed men were trained by an art school to do this (see the link for the full story) because someone believed they could and they would be fulfiled by their work once it was done, why did that not happen to me at school?

You're on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal. If you're late one more time you're fired, what do you do?

Syphira’s Profile PhotoSaphira
Well I'd save the dog for several reasons...
Not least of them, the fact that I've been fired from my job twice, but both times I was re-hired afterwards, so I'm still there and 3-2 ahead! Realistically it would be a terrible mistake if they fired me and they must know that. :)

For those of you who like to read: did you have a summer reading list? What were some of the things on it? If you didn't have one, what would you put on it for next summer? For those who don't like to read: what are some movies or tv shows you'd put on your to watch list?

If you were a volunteer, where would you like to work?

Well I already am a volunteer fam, I'd like to spend more time volunteering there.
https://treesforlife.org.uk/
I go there once a year and spend a week there and two days in Edinburgh, I'd like to expand that out so it takes up more like 5 or 10 weeks between the highlands and Edinburgh and spend the rest of my time going round doing wild things but I can't afford that sadly :(

Do you always have to be right or can you accept when you're in the wrong?

Syphira’s Profile PhotoSaphira
Well I do suffer from not being able to admit I've made a mistake because I'm too proud, and also because I'm not in a strong position, for example I'm near the bottom of the food chain at work, so I do try to avoid responsibility.
I just remembered a book I read, I haven't always followed the advice therein but I recommend it.

Favourite dessert? (Try to think specific things if you can) ?

ronniebon’s Profile PhotoRonnie
Well it varies but I like a sticky toffee pudding, what legends eat for desert.
My favourite is from Jo's Cheshire Kitchen (which don't have a website sadly) or direct from Cartmel. (preferably when the races aren't on as the village fills up with arseholes then).
There's a vanilla custard ice cream that I buy from a farm
http://www.buttertons.co.uk/
That is the best accompaniment.

If you can point me in the direction of where I can find the film without purchasing I will gladly watch it! Also there are apparently multiple versions; I'm not sure which one you saw?

AmericanLass’s Profile PhotoC.
The Innocents (1961) directed by Jack Clayton & starring Deborah Kerr. I don't know where you'd find it for free but I do recommend.

So I was bored and made this random list of books I've read over the years and I'm curious to know how many of them y'all have read! Feel free to ignore of course! http://www.listchallenges.com/67-random-books-this-girl-has-read

AmericanLass’s Profile PhotoC.
I've only read 3, hopefully more to be added!
I note that you read Turn of the Screw, I haven't, but I will because I've seen this excellent film based on it which got me interested in the book. Shall we do a deal, you watch the film and I read thebook? :)

I recently heard a strange rumour that the CIA owns this site. The person who shared it with me thinks they're building psychological profiles on everyone here. What do you think of that idea? Who do you imagine may have created this site, and why do you think they made it?

It reminds me of the graffiti near where I live that says I'M WATCHING YOU.
I always reflect that this person must be very bored if they're watching me :)
I don't know who made this site but I do think the CIA operate in a lot of nefarious ways, such as helping create jihadism in the 80s by supporting just about anyone who was against communism, even though some of them such as al-Qaida turned out to be worse than communists.
On a tangent I would recommend this.

How do you react when someone is being dry with you, giving you one word answers?

Syphira’s Profile PhotoSaphira
I don't have anything to do with them.
How much effort would it take to respond politely?
I can see the appeal of rudeness as its 6am on Monday, but it's still the case that I don't indulgei. it myself and hope others never do with me.

How have your musical tastes evolved over the years? Have you always enjoyed the same style of music, or has it changed from one decade to the next?

Well I've had no sudden shift, such as ceasing to listen to a particular band or genre; I listen to virtually all of what I listened to at 21, but of course I've gradually evolved by adding more.
By reading about the bands I like, "X were influenced by Y", "A did the best cover of B's classic track, C" I got new ideas and in this age of Youtube and Spotify it's easy to satisfy your curiosity, which I suppose I Must have more of than most.

To keep in with the autumn theme this is a song I associate with autumn. :)

I'm going out for dinner tonight, which has got me thinking - What is your favourite food to eat when you go out for dinner? (If you can't think of a specific dish, is there a place/type of food you like to order?) ?

ronniebon’s Profile PhotoRonnie
Which of your children do you most love? ;)
The dinner I'd eat out is different to what I'd cook or buy to eat at home so I'd go for a curry here \m/

The fish curry is what I'd have for this hypothetical meal, then dessert at home.

I'm borrowing this question from @amrokasha76 because it's an awesome idea for a group question. Please use this as a free space to talk about anything that's on your mind. I can't wait to see what you discuss!

Well it's the 2nd of September so there can only be one answer to this (Thannkfully I'm not going back to school on Monday, or ever), I'm reflecting on the change of the seasons. :)
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2011/aug/15/poem-of-the-week-ae-housman
I took the enclosed picture in August 2014, I remember reflecting that it's like me in that it should be summer but looks and feels like autumn. (I know that the reason I felt that way was because I was quite ill with my thyroid, but it hadn't been diagnosed; I've recovered now).
So if you read the poem I hope it will start your own reflections, and look at this.

For those who've had partners: what's the pettiest/dumbest thing you've gotten upset with your partner about? What about the other way around? If no partners: apply this question to anyone else.

AmericanLass’s Profile PhotoC.
Well I am a bit upset that she often doesn't want to do things, even when I'm doing things in her city such as this
http://www.mountainsonstage.com
And even though I'm going to her city and hopefully seeing her beforehand, it would be better if she went. I know our interests aren't exactly the same, but I suppose she is far better than anyone else I can think of so it doesn't matter that much.

What's your favorite holiday? Why?

Easter, as I usually go on a walking trip & spend Easter Sunday in a good, High Anglican church, lots of smells and bells and 17th century English (the perfect relaxationafter my walk, then I eat and drink merrily).
The metaphor of redemptive sacrifice means a lot to me even though I'm an agnostic, I take to Lent and Easter natually. The hopefulness and reemergence is something I celebrate, and church seems like the place to do it.
This year.
