When asked here to give an example of a female leader of a country I proposed Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. I have received a bit of criticism of my choice. I was wondering what your opinion of her as prime minister is?
I was against her and think she did a great deal of damage to the city I live in and to the nation, not only through impoverishing people directly but bringing in a culture of short-term greed & selfishness.
Baffled by how the people who lose most from that have, in the recent election, voted for someone who personifies that 'culture' and will obviously make them worse off in the same way.
While obviously I think what I'm saying is true, I'd recommend reading the 3-volume biography by Charles Moore to give a record of what she thought & did.
Though saying all the above I did sympathise with her being a widow & having dementia at the end. Criticism of one's thoughts, and actions, should not become hatred of the person.

Is there a difference between a "record" and an "album"?
Isn't it that a record is anything that's been recorded (single, compilation, ep, full-length) whereas an album only refers to a set of songs arranged in a certain way, and intended to be listened to in full?
I am an album person though I may need to listen to a compilation if certain tracks weren't on the album for some reason.
I do prefer albums to greatest hits records because they fully show the artist's vision. And if someone does an album with a few hits and a load of filler, you're best not listening to them at all, I say!

Is there a difference between a "film" and a "movie"?
Film is more common in British English and movie is more common in American English. I would say film. But I understand movie, so there's no difference.

I have an on-off relationship with my girlfriend so I suppose so, though above all I value the friendship and would let nothing get in the way of that.
It's no secret that I'm more romantically interested in her than she is in me, so technically she is 'friend zoning' me. But I respect her boundaries and why would I become angry & bitter about the thing, thus losing such a good friend! No, I'm glad she is a friend and would like to be a lover but she decides that.
