? Do you have, or have access to, a garden? Are you “green fingered” (i.e. good at gardening)? ? If you don’t have a garden, how close is your nearest green space?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I'm afraid gardening is a thing that passed me by.

I persuaded my parents to get apple and pear trees but they don;t fruit very much, I like harvesting a wile apple or blackberry but I've never been green-fingered as others are.

What was your first paying job?

TheBeesKneesGirl’s Profile PhotoEffy
Working in a warehouse to fund my nights out during my first year of university.
I would load CDs and DVDs in a box and send them out to record shops. That really dates me, doesn't it!?
The first thing I did for money was to load 80 singles of I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness (Does anyone listen to them nowadays? I hope not because they're completely shit) and send it on its way.
Only good thing about that time is I discovered Girls Aloud through the radio they used to play. But I wouldn't admit to liking them if I hadn't been drinking :)

What is the most important thing in life?

Doing something that is really worth doing and provides fulfilment and service to others.
The mistake people make is confusing this with work towards making money.

Post some art you did ?

Completely unplanned, when I almost walked into a herd of cows and somehow had the presence of mind to photograph it!I remember this day well, I was walking round Staffordshire & Derbyshire, and after the walk went to Derby Museum.
Listening to an audiobook of Graham Greene, The Human Factor. Lost my phone, but it was a shit phone that kept dying out so despite the cost of the new phone (which I've just finished paying off) it all worked out well. How random & intense is this?

Biggest regret?

TheBeesKneesGirl’s Profile PhotoEffy
Not staying in education after my first degree, as I'd have been a natural academic and could easily have become a professional historian.
The main reason I didn't do it was that I didn't believe I could, the next was financial. I do think those two things prevent a lot of working-class and otherwise disadvantaged people achieving their full potential and it's something I know I could have done, and got more fulfilment (though probably not more money!) out of.

How often do you work out?

I haven't been to a gym since 2014! But I walk at the very leasy 3 miles a day and at weekends and holidays a lot more than that, and I cycle sometimes (not so often as I don't really enjoy it).
Except in the direst of emergencies, about once every 2-3 months, I keep up this routine every day of my life.

What are your hobbies?

TheBeesKneesGirl’s Profile PhotoEffy
Lots of hobbies!
I'm combining my hobbies of long-distance walking, history & blogging by going here at the next bank holiday

I know there's a big collection of industrial art by Joseph Wright and others at Derby Museum, so I'll go there beforehand and get some material for the blog. The combination of theory & practice is what I like best.

What photo cheers you up every time you look at it?

Don't know if this makes me shallow or an old perv* but thinking about Nadine makes me happy as not only do I fancy her but I do think she is a great singer & performer and I like her personality.
*Less of the old actually as we were born in the same year!

If true female friendship doesn't exist, but friendship between men and women is not possible, what should women be in friends with?

Everybody can be friends with cool people they like, I deny the premises you're using here and think you could do with watching fewer right-wing youtube videos and speaking to more people?

who's your favorite South Park character ?

I've never watched it!
That fact got me into some trouble when my brother had an Ethopian lodger, and referred to him as Marvin after the South Park charachter Starvin' Marvin. In my innocence, I thought that was his name, so when I met him I said 'hello Marvin, how are you doing?' do embarrassment/confusion all round.
But I don't think I was the one in the wrong, it was my brother for thinking shit like that is funny, and I know in general what an arsehole he is but had no reason to think this person's name wasn't Marvin.
