Have you had COVID? If you have, how was it?
Yes, I had it in February. I was lucky that it wasn’t bad. This is because I’m fully vaccinated, young(ish) and healthy.
Thankfully, i learned that I had covid because the British government gave out free tests. My employer allowed me to isolate. Without these things, I might have made someone more ill than I was.
So I do think we should all get vaccinated and tested, isolate if we can and call for a change in the law if we can’t! The sooner this is all over, the better. Because it isn’t over yet.

🍔 American food: YAY or NAY?
I’m in America but I’m not eating ‘typical’ American food as I’m not eating meat for the whole of my stay. I don’t like American farming practice and think there should be more animal welfare rules.
I am eating well though! Eating tacos & pizza, and I just ate a veg wrap and some sweet pecan nuts in glaze.

From today, all major restaurants in the UK have to display the calories on their menus. Do you think this is a good idea? Will it affect what you order? Do you think there are any negative consequences, eg to people with eating disorders?

I think it’s an absolutely dreadful idea; I’ll ignore it myself, as I exercise enough to say I’ve earned the right to eat what I want. But those who have eating disorders won’t ignore it, but make themselves sick with worry about how ‘fat’ they are.
We also need calories to live; some eat too many calories, but calories aren’t bad in themselves and it’s absurd to say they are.

Do you like to cook?
I like to cook but I’m not very good at it! Yesterday I baked an apple crumble and cooked carrot soup from fresh veg. Bought bread because I hadn’t any flour to bake my own. Though I do sometimes bake bread.

Have you ever accidentally sent a text or email to the wrong person?
Yes, only yesterday I was trying to get a response from the head of department because I couldn’t do work that needed to be done until I got his approval.
So I tried to email my supervisor and said ‘can you tell the head of department to stop ignoring me’ but I sent it to the head of department instead!
He responded with the one word ‘approved’ so that turned out well in the end!?
