? It’s Bonfire Night (aka Guy Fawkes Night) tonight here (5th) . Will you be at a bonfire with hot dogs or pie & peas, holding sparklers? ? If you don’t celebrate this where you are, what are your plans for tonight?
No! My parents' dog is scared of fireworks so no one in the family has taken part in them since we discovered what damage they do to some animals & children. They went to a remote part of Shropshirehttp://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/shropshireTo get away. I went there for the weekend (they are still there) and if you look in a few days you can see pictures of my journey.
The one I go back to is The WhiteRibbon by Michael Haneke, not only a masterly horror/mystery story, but also a historical piece set in the vanished civilisation of East Prussia before 1914.Look it up if you want but I prefer not to give spoilers, so I urge just buying it!
I don't watch many but The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue is magnificent, and truly horrifying.I can't link to a review or give a description because spoilers, but if you like horror seek it out!
It's World Vegan Day! Do you think it is healthy to be a vegan/vegetarian?
Certainly better than being one of the people who laughs at vegetarians/vegans and says they're not eating properly, despite being obese and unable to climb a flight of stairs!I am an omnivore myself but hope everybody who's eating their vegan meals is enjoying it. Wash it down with some of this is my advice as like most dark chocolate it's vegan. (the name refers to the texture rather than literal cream) and delicious.
A colleague of mine is married to a social worker, and last year he and his wife were minding their own business at home on the 31st of October when some trick or treaters came round. It was a mother and daughter whom my colleague's wife had been dealing with professionally!Which must have been intensely awkward for all involved!?
I hope you have a great Samhain, Halloween, New Year or whatever you're celebrating tonight and tomorrow! ??? Accidentally sent some of these on Anon, oops.
I don't do anything, haven't so much as answered the door in years! :)I did bend my rule slightly though, as a child ambushed me as I was at the door coming home. She looked really upset when I said I wouldn't give her anything and kept asking, so I relented and gave her a lotus biscuit that I'd planned to eat after tea.Soon afterwards I got a knock, perhaps from this girl's mates who'd heard that I'm a soft touch, but didn't answer!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOAl0enE7kI
Living in a city I don't see many stars, though the city night has a beauty of its own.Where I go in Scotlandhttps://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/post/188090132349/it-seemed-to-be-a-place-that-a-long-leggedThe night sky is incredible but as I say, must be sought out (my camera wouldn't photograph it either). I suppose it's the same in America, you have to go to a national park. This is the night where I live
There's some graffiti near where I live that says I'M WATCHING YOU.I always think that person must be very bored by now if they've spent years watching me!
